  • Patent number: 5069119
Abstract: A device for separating the yolk and albumen of eggs, after removal from the shell, includes a cup-shaped member in an upper portion of a unitary housing for receiving an egg, retaining the yolk and allowing the albumen to overflow the cup-shaped member through surrounding slots into a first chamber in the housing, a lever being operable thereafter to break the yolk and form an opening in the cup-shaped member for allowing the yoke to flow through a tube extending downwardly through the first chamber into a second chamber. The chambers each have inclined floors and chutes for allowing their respective contents to flow into separate containers. A funnel is preferably mounted above the cup-shaped member together with an anvil so that the shell of the egg can be broken on the anvil and the combined yolk and albumen directed into the cup-shaped member by the funnel.

  • Patent number: 5005674
Abstract: In accordance with the invention, conventional cable operated, pull up braking systems can be combined with a pair of bi-directional, rotatable grip subassemblies to provide braking action without change in the rider's grip. Each subassembly of the invention includes a cord attached to a hand grip that includes a longitudinal bore that is slidable about but rotatable with respect to the handle bar. In one embodiment, each hand grip includes a cylinder having an enlarged head, a central segment and a longitudinal bore slightly greater in diameter than the handle bar. At the exterior of the central segment is an exterior cylindrical cover preferably of compressible rubber. The outer diameter of the compressible cover is larger than that of the enlarged head of the support cylinder, and is of sufficient length to comfortably accommodate the grip of the rider.

  • Patent number: 4733133
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for producing microwave radiation wherein a generally stable, high-beta, relativistic electron plasma is formed and magnetically confined in a magnetic mirror region of a suitable enclosure, a convectively unstable wave then being created in the confined plasma for producing a pulse of relatively intense microwave radiation at a frequency near a local electron gyrofrequency of the plasma, the plasma preferably being formed by simultaneous multiple-frequency electron cyclotron heating and upper off-resonant heating using microwave power at frequencies above the electron gyrofrequency of the plasma.

  • Patent number: 4702031
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a visual bite indication comprise a weighted mass having an opening through which a fishing line is loosely threaded so that the weighted mass is suspended upon the line and causes the line to sag when the line is extended for fishing so that tension produced in the line by a bite causes the weighted mass to move as a visual bite indicator. The weighted mass is adapted for being secured to an adjacent eyelet during casting to prevent the weighted mass from interfering with forward passage of the line from the reel. Preferably, the weighted mass and one eyelet are magnetically attractive to each other, the one eyelet either being a fixed portion or adapted for attachment to a pre-existing rod. Multiple embodiments of the adjacent eyelet are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4669237
Abstract: An apparatus and method of use thereof is disclosed for ridding areas of bats. The apparatus comprises an exit passageway that permits bats to move out of the area and down through an exit passageway. The passageway prevents return entrance to the area because of the passageway size construction. The size of the internal surface, the flexibility of a portion thereof and the material of its construction prevents the bat reentry.

  • Patent number: 4615785
Abstract: A clip is disclosed of a type for securing workpieces to a bar forming part of a framework for suspending the workpieces in a bath suitable for anodizing or other electrolytic treatment of the workpieces. The clip has an elongated body with tapered engagement teeth at both ends thereof for arrangement adjacent the bath bar. A central portion of the clip body is adapted for engagement with a flexible band which is wrapped around the bar for resiliently urging the clip against the bar. In use, either end of the clip may be moved away from the bar, preferably by using a tool fitting into slots on the clip body for positioning a workpiece between either end of the clip and the bar. The clip is of a uniform cross-sectional configuration adapted for extrusion whereby a plurality of the clips may be formed by transversely cutting an extruded member conforming with the cross-section of the clip.

  • Patent number: 4598003
Abstract: Various embodiments of an imprintable tape and a preferred method for forming and imprinting the tape are disclosed. Generally, the tape includes an opaque film portion formed from polytetrafluoroethylene and a layer of material of contrasting color laminated to the opaque film so that upon application of compressive force to a selected surface portion of the film, unique characteristics of the polytetrafluoroethylene in the opaque film cause it to become transparent within the selected surface portion and thereby form a contrasting indicia or design by the resulting exposure of the underlying tape or surface. Another embodiment of the tape employs an underlying surface to which the tape is applied for forming the contrasting indicia or design exposed by compressing part of the tape. Various embodiments are disclosed for forming a contrasting colored surface beneath the opaque film.
