  • Patent number: 4428412
Abstract: A portable instant shade device provides protection against glaring sunlight at the interior of motor vehicles or boats. The main body of the device consists of a cylindrical casing housing the shade and the shade roller, which casing has a longitudinal slot at the bottom in which the shade passes through. At each end of the cylindrical casing is a cap which receives the end of the shade roller, holds the foldable grooved arms and provides attachment for the mounting means. The shade roller is a usual spring type, operated as an ordinary window shade. The portable instant shade may be easily mounted detachably with suction cups or any other ordinary clamping device to assure adjustability to any desired position for the purpose of shading the interior of motor vehicles or boats.

  • Patent number: 4408846
Abstract: A method and apparatus for increasing visual acuity of a person wherein a target is selectively moved toward or away from the person to different positions at accurately determined distances therefrom. At each of the positions, the person is required to identify the appearance of the target which is randomly changed to any one of a plurality of different appearances. The concept includes the moving of the target further away from the person whenever the identification of the target appearance is correct at a given position and moving the target closer to the person whenever the identification is incorrect. The invention comprehends moving the target incrementally at smaller distances away from the person than toward the person. A Badal lens is interposed between the person and the target for causing the focal points to be at the nodal point of the eye of the person.

  • Patent number: 4377050
Abstract: The method and apparatus of the present invention are contemplated in combination with a laminated tape including a clear film and a suitable base, an extrudable adhesive being arranged between the clear film and the base along with a color agent adapted for transport with the adhesive during lateral extrusion. Substantial removal of the adhesive from a selected area of the laminated tape thus results in removal of the color agent and exposure of the base within the selected area. The method and apparatus contemplate means for applying heat and pressure to the selected area of the laminated tape within predetermined parameters for causing lateral extrusion of the adhesive layer and corresponding transport of the color agent to expose the base within the selected area. The method and apparatus of the invention preferably contemplate the laminated tape as being of an elongated configuration with a variety of indicia being available for sequentially imprinting different portions of the tape.
