  • Patent number: 4380883
Abstract: A fishing signal apparatus utilizes a detachable clamping mechanism which may be affixed at selected locations along the length of a hand-held type fishing rod and reel. The clamping mechanism has a spring wire affixed thereto. The other end of the spring wire is configured to prohibit a bell mechanism from accidental disengagement with the spring wire. The bell mechanism may be adjusted to clampingly reside at selected locations along the length of the spring wire. By adjusting the location of the clamping mechanism and the location of the bell mechanism, wave and wind action can be eliminated as a means of ringing the bell, while minor non-biting forces, acting on the fishing tackle, can also be disregarded.

  • Patent number: 4367570
Abstract: An automatically disengagable safety buckle assembly utilizes a rod-like element having two free ends. The rod-like element is secured to one end of the flexible safety strap. A plate having a hook-like end is secured to one end of another flexible safety strap. The rod-like element is introduced between a spring-like sheet secured to the plate and another sheet that is spaced non-uniformly outwardly from the side of the plate carrying the hook. The rod-like element is permitted to slide along the spring-like sheet, after entry, to a dwell position which is defined by an outwardly disposed arcuate excursion in the surface of the other sheet. The apparatus is employed prior to impact with the rod-like element reposing in the dwell position. Upon impact, the rod-like element is displaced towards the hook of the plate and continues to restrain the user from unlimited forward travel.

  • Patent number: 4367438
Abstract: An electronic measuring apparatus utilizes an RC oscillator, having one fixed impedance element, in one feedback loop, and two similar impedance elements alternately and separately coupled into the circuit, utilizing separate transmission gates and separately energizable inverters, each tandemly operated so as to disengage one of the similar impedance elements, while the other impedance element is being utilized. The output of the device is two separate and sequential streams of pulses, each reflecting the magnitude of each of the similar impedance elements, when employed in the circuit. Stability and response time is enhanced, permitting accurate measurement of a variable impedance element, against a like but fixed impedance element, if desired. Display means are provided, after both series of pulses are electively added, subtracted, multiplied, or divided.

  • Patent number: 4363228
Abstract: A locking mechanism for ranges utilizes a bar extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the knob operated shafts controlling the operation of the individual valves of a gas range or the individual switches of an electric range. A plurality of arms are pivotably secured to the bar, each having fingers directed and biased towards the longitudinal axis of each shaft. Each shaft is rotatable and carries an opening at a discrete location in the surface thereof. Rotating the shaft to a position corresponding to deenergizing the associated heating element of the range into an off position permits the free end of the finger to enter the opening, preventing further rotation of the shaft when the bar is slidably positioned into a locked position by the operation of a key operated lock.

  • Patent number: 4353547
Abstract: An exercising apparatus utilizes an inclinable table over which is pivotably secured an arm. The arm is pivotably secured to the free end of a piston whose housing is otherwise pivotably secured to a frame to which the arm is secured. The cylinder has the uppermost chamber filled with oil and coupled to an oil receiving vented chamber by way of two parallel pads, each containing a check valve operable in opposed directions. Each path also contains a manually operable valve, one of which is disposed hydraulically in parallel with a valve containing selectably different size orifices. The lower chamber of the cylinder contains an elastic membrane which segregates the lower chamber into two separate compartments, the upper of which is filled with oil and the lower of which contains air. The operation of the cylinder simulates different weights and the effect of gravity thereon as if a user were actually lifting a barbell.

  • Patent number: 4344417
Abstract: A solar energy collector utilizes a generally wedge-shaped device whose lateral upper surface is receptive of light rays passing therethrough into the wedge-shaped body of the collector. The lower surface of the collector reflects rays upwardly towards the upper surface. Such rays are re-reflected back towards the lowermost lower surface. Each successive internal reflection tends to further dispose the reflected rays in a direction substantially parallel to a plane located intermediate the upper and lower surfaces and substantially thereinbetween. A solar operated heater, disposed at the external face of the wedge-shaped collector is heated by all the rays directed towards such heater. The collector may be provided with a prismatic adapter located above the upper surface of the collector.

  • Patent number: 4285383
Abstract: An adjustable vehicle screen utilizes a telescoping frame having a slot disposed in the innermost surface thereof so as to permit an elastic-like screen member to have the marginal edges thereof pass therein. The free edges of the screen are captured within the tubular telescoping frame. The frame may be dimentional so as to accommodate various window openings in motor vehicles by allowing the screen to expand or contract in size in conformity therewith. One embodiment of the invention utilizes a pair of hinges joining together a pair of U-shaped frame members so as to permit the screen element to be folded up when not used. Such U-shaped frame members each have telescoping components thereby permitting the apparatus to adjust in size for various window openings. A portion of the frame is provided having a protrusion extending outwardly therefrom so as to be installed within the groove located in the frame of the vehicle in which the uppermost edge and the side edges of the window may reside.
