  • Patent number: 4184335
Abstract: An improved wave motor tank utilizes a tank having an open mouth portion disposed in a downwardmost position when residing in a body of water experiencing the effects of waves and tides. The tank is coupled to a mechanical apparatus, well known in the art, utilized in extracting energy due to the fall and rise of the tank. The interior of the tank is subjected to a negative pressure so as to tightly couple the tank to the water in which it is caused to reside. The tank is provided with a flotation chamber which contains a gas thereon, offsetting the weight of the tank and any ballast attached thereto, maintaining such tank at a near weightless condition yet effectively "clamped" to the surrounding water.

  • Patent number: 4183418
Abstract: A tricycle apparatus utilizes a chassis having a housing disposed surrounding the midregions of the rear axle of the tricycle. Each rear wheel is provided having a child carrying seat secured to a fender-like covering therefor. The rear axle is provided having two portions concentrically aligned with one another and each being locked to each other utilizing a removeable locking pin therefor. In a manual mode of operation, both portions of the rear axle, when locked together, are caused to rotate, operating the rear wheels by the conventional pair of bicycle pedals journaled to the tricycle frame. A double output shafted gear head motor, utilizing a pair of slip clutches is coupled individually to each portion of the rear axle so as to enable a battery, carried by the housing, to operate the motor, provided operating power for the tricycle when such motor, slip clutches and battery are added to a mounting within the housing.

  • Patent number: 4176666
Abstract: This disclosure pertains to a gas scavenger apparatus utilized to recover anesthesia-logical gases derived during surgical procedures and to dispose same to a closed vacuum line substantially limiting the inadvertant escapage into the atmosphere. A reservoir bag is connected to the patient's anesthetic circuit, which in turn is connected to a scavenger valve. The vacuum line constantly empties the reservoir bag drawing off the waste gas accumulated therein. When the reservoir bag is substantially empty, a valve admits ambient air, as well as waste gas, into a chamber emptied by the vacuum line. Thus, the vacuum line does not act on the patient's anesthetic circuit, serving only to empty the reservoir bag as waste gas accumulates therein.

  • Patent number: 4173834
Abstract: An apparatus for educational use in the playing of mathematical games utilizes forty-four playing cards. Each of the cards bears an enlarged numeral extending over the ranges from one to forty-four. Each card has the same surface carrying the enlarged numeral encoated wtih three multiplication steps and three division steps whereby one common numeral is used in each multiplication step and as a divisor in each division step. None of the numerals is extended beyond number 12 excepting the enlarged identifying numeral. The users record their proficiency in rapid use of each card, when randomly collected, on a score board having four wheels with a score imprinted thereon. The wheels are rotatably secured to a plate having windows exposing the score value on the wheels. Each of the four wheels are separately identified by a color, equivalent to the color of each four separately decorated medallions.

  • Patent number: 4173338
Abstract: A game score apparatus utilizes a display apparatus in conjunction with a miniaturized hockey game which responds to the output signal generated by placing the puck in a holding position from which it is dispensed automatically so as to simultaneously start up a display clock exhibited on a display panel in digital form. The clock continues to operate until such time that the puck is disposed in one of the two goal positions so as to descend downwardly into a transparent tube causing a photoelectric cell to sense its presence therein. Scoring automatically takes place at the same time as the clock is then stopped. Apparatus is provided for adding additional score points to either of the two displayed scores, similarly displayed in digital form. A counter is utilized to determine which game period is in progress. Such counter being operated by the timing apparatus reaching the total period equivalent to a full period play.

  • Patent number: 4171580
Abstract: A boot dryer utilizes a housing having an ingress port and an egress port and a low current consuming motor driven fan therein. A pair of flexible hoses are removably secured to the ports of the housing and extend downwardly therefrom when the housing is supported by a wire-like hook pivotably secured to the uppermost regions of the housing. The hook is extensible in length facilitating and supporting the housing depending downwardly therefrom. The free end of the flexible hoses, removably secured to the ports of the housing, are cut so as to form an angle to the longitudinal axis of the hoses. In use, the hoses are inserted into a pair of boots exposed in side by side relationship and a slow cool flow of air enters one boot and circulates upwardly through one hose and through the housing and then downwardly through the other hose, exiting outwardly from the remaining boot, thus drying the boot without cracking or deteriorating the interior of the boot.

  • Patent number: 4162715
Abstract: An automatic releasing seat belt utilizes a plate attached to a flexible belt portion of a seat belt. The plate is provided with a rectangular opening. A housing is attached to the other seat belt component having a compartment therein which is accessible by having a slot on one side and an opening on another side adjacent to the side of the slot. The plate is inserted in the slot such that the opening in the plate is disposed adjacent to the opening in the housing. Within the housing there is a camming plate utilizing a spring to bias upwardly and outwardly towards the opening in the housing a camming edge thereof. The camming edge engages one side of the opening in the plate. Thus, when the plate is inserted into the slot, the camming plate locks the plate into a given position. A flexible cable is disposed having one end engaged within the cavity of the housing and has a cam rod attached to the end of the inner cable portion thereof.
