  • Patent number: 5090082
Abstract: A windshield wiping device for swivelling windshields of motor vehicles. The device includes a wiper shaft, which is supported on the assembly adjacent to the swivel axis of the windshield, and a wiper arm projecting over the windshield. The arm includes an attachment part, by means of which it is attached to the wiper shaft, and a pivoting part which can be swivelled relative to the attachment part around a swivelling axis, and which, by means of an electrical motor is brought into a stopping position on the windshield, in which the electrical motor is independently switched off by means of a stopping position switch. In order to open the windshield without damage, in the stopping position, the swivelling axis, between the attachment part and the pivoting part of the wiper arm, is directed at least approximately in parallel to the swivelling axis of the windshield.

  • Patent number: 5090745
Abstract: A plastic quick-connect connector for connecting a plastic tube or fluid line to a connector stem. A elastically expandable plastic compression sleeve is slid over the end of the mating plastic tube or fluid line. The connector stem receives the plastic tube and surrounding compression sleeve the stem to expand the plastic tube and the tightly surrounding compression sleeve radially outwardly into a gripping relationship with the stem therebetween. The compression sleeve is of a material which does not relax at elevated temperatures on the order of 350.degree. F. This arrangement prevents creep or relaxation of the plastic tube or fluid line which, in turn, prevents an undesired pull-off, or separation of the completed connection.

  • Patent number: 5090293
Abstract: A hydraulic booster for slip-controlled brake systems, including a booster piston (1) arranged in a booster housing (11) and confining a booster chamber (4). A braking pressure control valve is provided whose control part (12) is actuatable by a lever mechanism (13) as a function of the piston of the control part (12). An actuating piston (2) is displaceably guided in the booster piston (1) and is positioned by way of a push rod which cooperates with the lever mechanism (13). To provide a hydraulic booster to realize boosting factors of any desired size, both of constructional and strength-minimizing nature, an annular surface (24) is formed the stepped actuating piston (2), on the side of the push rod (22) and is larger than the total area of any opposing annular surfaces, subject to the booster chamber pressure to create a net force acting to oppose the push rod force and allow setting of the boosting factor by adjustment of the area of the annular surface.

  • Patent number: 5090262
Abstract: The disclosed lever-type gear works on a variable transmission ratio, with the degree of transmission being respectively dependent on the position of the levers and the position of the roller element between the levers. According to a preferred arrangement, the gear can be so designed as to provide a state of indifferent equilibrium once a force F.sub.P is applied to the associated lever by a rod located on the driving side, which force F.sub.P changes along with the stroke s.sub.p of the rod while a constant force is applied to rod applying force to the other lever, irrespective of the stroke s.sub.M thereof.

  • Patent number: 5087907
Abstract: A friction lining warning device for a pin-guided spot-type disc brake whose caliper housing, brake carrier is slidingly arranged at a pin. A stud which engages an opening of the pin and is arranged in alignment with the pin. A switch housing surrounds the pin and is connected to the caliper housing, to the brake carrier, the pin and the stud and is movable relative to the switch housing and to the caliper housing. Electric switches in the stud, in the switch housing release when the stud has travelled a predetermined distance relative to the switch housing. • Patent number: 5083243
Abstract: A lamp for motor vehicles including a fog warning or backup lamp. The lamp comprises a lamp compartment which is covered by a transparent cover glass towards the front portion. A bulb projects into the lamp compartment from the back and a parabolic reflector diverts light from the bulb onto the cover glass. High light values are obtained even in the case of a small light transmitting surface at the front of the lamp compartment. This is achieved in that the cross-section of the lamp compartment is larger than the light transmitting surface at the front of the lamp compartment and that the bulb is partly surrounded by a ball reflector which is located outside the light transmitting surface. The center of the ball reflector is at least approximately identical with the filament of the bulb and the ball reflector casts light form the bulb onto the parabolic reflector.

  • Patent number: 5077701
Abstract: This invention relates to a distance measuring device, in particular for motor vehicles, in which a converter is utilized for transmission of an ultrasonic signal and also for reception of the echo signal. Thereby the echo signal received by the converter is compared at a comparator with a threshold value after having been appropriately amplified. This threshold value is at a particular changeover time changed over from a first high value, which is independent of time, to a smaller, time-dependent value. Thereby the changeover time is computed from a measured time depending on the dying-out behavior of the converter.

  • Patent number: 5076593
Abstract: A disc brake caliper seal arrangement wherein an annular seal is provided between the caliper housing and the outside diameter of the piston provided therein. The seal provides a rollback function which returns the piston to a given running clearance between the disc rotor and brake pads after actuation of the brake. The seal is provided in a substantially square or rectangular cross-sectional configuration and is disposed in a seal groove of the caliper housing. The seal is provided with annular recesses on the ends of the parallel sides of the seal adjacent to the outside diameter of the piston. The central portion of the side of the seal which engages the outside diameter of the piston is provided with a circumferential groove. The recesses provide space of sufficient volume for the seal to deflect into before encountering the straight groove side wall, thereby eliminating the need for a machined chamfer in the housing groove.

  • Patent number: 5074471
Abstract: A windshield cleaning system with a spraying device is described, in which windshield cleaning system a jet element made of an elastic material is carried in an adjustable jet body formed in the shape of a ball. The jet element is formed with elastic lips forming a spraying mouth which is normally closed and which is located outside of the jet body. The spraying mouth is opened by the pressure of the washing liquid. • Patent number: 5069424
Abstract: A quick connect connector for fast connection of fluid carrying assemblies such as a mating tube and a fluid unit. The connector includes a connector body which houses the connector components and accepts a redundant clip which pushes an upset bead of the male tube toward an annular seal which surrounds the end of the male tube. The redundant clip includes fingers which are received within an external groove on the connector body when the tube head is in the fully locked position within the housing. The fingers of the redundant clip proved a secondary locking feature in the event that the locking fingers of a primary locking within the connector body should fail. • Patent number: 5067779
Abstract: A pedal-actuated braking pressure generator for a brake system with anti-lock control comprising a vacuum-operated servo unit (1), which serves both for boosting the braking force and for generating an auxiliary energy opposed to the pedal force. The system further comprises a master brake cylinder (2) and a piston arrangement (3) connected upstream of the servo unit (1). The piston arrangement comprises a pedal-side piston (15), a reversing valve (18), a pressure transmission chamber (17) and a push-rod piston (19). • Patent number: 5067365
Abstract: An adjusting mechanism for a control member for influencing automotive vehicle engine torques. A spring-supported actuating member is articulated via pulleys at a mechanical linkage. The mechanical linkage transmits the movement of the actuating member onto a control member. The control member is influenced irrespective of the activation of the actuating member by another control variable effective, in particular, by the slip effect of driven vehicle wheels.
