  • Patent number: 5066074
Abstract: For controlling the slip when braking a road vehicle and in particular for improving control in case of different friction values on the right and left vehicle sides the rotational behavior of the front wheels and, as a measure of the vehicular velocity and vehicular deceleration, the rotational behavior of the rear wheel running with a higher friction value are observed. The rotational behavior of the front wheels and the vehicular deceleration are evaluated in accordance with criteria manifesting the danger of yawing moments which are excessive with respect to the driving stability of the vehicle. Upon reaching a predetermined vehicular deceleration threshold value representative of high yawing moments, any further yawing moment increase is restricted by limiting the braking pressure or the braking pressure increase at the front wheel having a better road surface contact.

  • Patent number: 5066073
Abstract: A brake system intended for automotive vehicles provided with a brake pressure transmitter (1) which is linked to the wheel brakes through pressure medium lines, and with sensors (19 to 22, 24) which are responsive to the brake pressure or to the behavior of rotation of the wheels and by means of which the braking effect at the wheels brakes is detectable. Furthermore, separating valves (SO.sub.1, SO.sub.2, SO.sub.3, SO.sub.4, SO.sub.HA ) for shutting off the flow of pressure medium in one switching position are incorporated in the pressure medium paths leading to the wheel brakes. A monitoring circuit (3', 25') to which the sensor signals are transmittable recognizes the failure of one wheel brake and thereupon automatically commutates the separating valve located in the pressure medium path leading to the wheel brake which has failed into a valve position locking the flow of pressure medium.

  • Patent number: 5066056
Abstract: A power striker pin mechanism utilizes a base plate having a horizontal guide slot in its front side surface and a vertical guide slot in its rear side surface. A striker pin carrying slider is slidably received in the horizontal slot and is formed with a cylindrical post portion which projects rearwardly of the slider through a clearance opening in the base plate and through the vertical slot at the rear side of the base plate. A circular cam is located in the vertical slot and formed with an eccentric bore which rotatively receives the post portion of the slider. The circular cam is mounted upon a guide member for rotation relative to the guide member about its center and the guide member in turn is mounted for movement vertically relative to the base plate within the vertical slot. A flexible cable fixed at one end to the cam is tensioned to apply a torque to the cam.

  • Patent number: 5063710
Abstract: A power drive for a sliding door includes a slider for guided sliding movement along a fixed path between first and second end limits of movement. The slider operably engages with a sliding door to impart motion from the slider to the sliding door when traveling in a first direction. A reversible power drive is provided for driving the slider along the fixed path between the first and second end limits of movement in first and second directions of travel. A latch release, coupling the slider to the sliding door, initially releases a latch mechanism and, after release of the latch mechanism, transfers motion from the slider to the sliding door when traveling in the second direction.

  • Patent number: 5060159
Abstract: To control the brake system of a two-channel anti-lock system, solely the rotational behavior of the front wheels (VR, VL) is measured and analyzed for generating a vehicle reference speed (V.sub.REF) and braking-pressure control signals. The quantities determining the braking pressure in the wheel brakes and/or in the brake circuits (I, II) are measured, and a wheel pressure pattern (RDM) is formed from these which, by approximation, represents the pressure variation in the wheel brakes. The wheel-pressure-pattern signals are utilized for dimensioning the valve control signals and for determining the variation of the vehicle reference speed (V.sub.REF).

  • Patent number: 5058699
Abstract: For controlling a traction slip control system with brake and motor management, motor regulating signals (m) are derived from electrical signals indicative of the brake pressure or which influence the brake pressure. Preferably, a brake pressure pattern (p[t]) is formed taking into account the pressure build-up and pressure decrease characterics of the wheel brakes or of the entire system as a basis for computing the motor regulating signals (m).

  • Patent number: 5052719
Abstract: In order to simply and economically fix to an internal-thread coupling (12) a pipeline (17) furnished with two slidable external-thread connections (15, 18), the invention contemplates fabricating the two external-thread connections (15, 18) together in the shape of one part only. At a predetermined screw-in torque, one external-thread connection (15) is torn off and as a result one pipeline end (16) is safely retained in the internal-thread coupling (12). The second external-thread connection (18) may be slid to the second end (21) of the pipeline and can fix the latter to a further internal-thread connection. The fixing means and methods contemplated by the invention are automation compatible and, upon fixing, protect the pipeline from being detached from the coupling through faulty handling.

  • Patent number: 5048645
Abstract: A re-usable wear indicator (14) detachably secured to the pad carrier plate (2), especially intended for a disc-type brake shoe (1), which is located at the same point as is a spring (8) precluding rattling from occurring. • Patent number: 5049706
Abstract: A switch for use on the steering column of a vehicle includes lever operated switch members controlling vehicle operating circuits. A switch lever is mounted in a housing attachable to the steering column of a vehicle for movement in one of two mutually separate planes and/or rotation about a longitudinal axis extending through the switch lever. Actuators are mounted in the housing and are independently responsive to one of the modes of movement of the switch lever for controlling a separate switch member mounted in the housing. Each switch member carries electric contacts which are selectively engaged by contacts carried by a driven member in the switch member as the switch member switches position in response to movement by the associated actuator to effect switching of the connections for a particular vehicle operating circuit.

  • Patent number: 5046216
Abstract: This invention describes a windshield wiper system comprising a windshield wiper which may be linerarly driven to and fro by means of a driving member extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the windshield wiper. The driving member is guided in a frame from which projects a carrier for the windshield wiper. In the emergence area of the carrier from the frame there is provided a hollow-cylindrical seal of elastic material, which seal is diametrically penetrated by the carrier. The carrier and the driving member are thus protected against weather influences, because in the seal there is sort of an air cushion. If required the seal can due to its shape without any problem serve as a real heating hose and/or as a discharge hose for condensation water.

  • Patent number: 5044702
Abstract: A brake system providing traction slip of the controlled driven wheels. The rotating pattern of the driven wheels is permanently monitored by sensors (S1, S3 and S2, S4, respectively). In the event that one of the driven wheels tends to spin, the system switches to the traction slip mode so that a drive M of two pumps (21, 26) is actuated and an ASR valve (80) reswitched causing the air pressure to be applied to the booster chamber of the servo system (3) and the master cylinder to be actuated independently of the pedal actuation. During the start-up phase of the pumps (21, 26) pressure fluid is passed from the master brake cylinder to the driven wheels enabling a fast and effective pressure build-up in the wheel brakes of the driven wheels to effectively prevent the wheels from spinning. The master cylinder (2) therefore provides the function of an accumulator.
