  • Patent number: 4673931
Abstract: Acquired sampled waveform data is displayed on a screen as a busform, wherein a change of state in the waveform during a sampling interval is represented by a solid block character on the screen, and wherein the lack of a change of state in any of the channels during a sampling interval is represented by a space character of the same width as the block character. The blocks and spaces representing contiguous sampling intervals are of the same width and are displayed in horizontal sequence across the screen such that the time between state changes is graphically represented by the horizontal distance between the blocks. Numbers indicating the associated waveform state are displayed when possible in the space or spaces following each block character.

  • Patent number: 4672369
Abstract: In system and method for smooth line raster-scan display, a frame buffer containing a high resolution map of information of an image for display is read so as to furnish plural line stored information for each single line of the raster display. Display circuitry of the system receives the plural line stored information and varyingly weights same to furnish such single line Z-axis information (intensity control) for an X-Y display matrix, such as a CRT display terminal. Means are included in the system for display of the entire frame buffer content on a first fractional basis, e.g., a two thousand line resolution buffer to five hundred line raster. Selection circuitry of the system provides for reading out only a fraction of the frame buffer content, e.g., one-fourth or the five hundred lines thereof, on five hundred raster lines, thus providing true resolution zoom capability.

  • Patent number: 4670858
Abstract: An associative memory having a large storage capacity which also has the capability of being used as a conventional memory, i.e. accessed by physical location. A memory array (11) is accessed in conventional fashion by an address decoder (15). A mask/data drive circuit (13) controls the loading/reading of the memory array (11) when the device is in a conventional mode, and operates on the same pins to provide mask and search data when the drive is in the associative mode. In the associative mode, a plurality of match detect (17) circuits, one for each word location in memory (11), receive the output signals from the memory array (11). The match detect circuits (17) prioritize the output match signals from memory (11) and provide an output indicating the first or lowest word in memory (11) having a match. An address encoder (19) is responsive to the prioritized match output (if any) from the match detect circuits (17) to determine the physical location in memory (11) containing the matched word.

  • Patent number: 4670780
Abstract: A method for matching hardcopy colors to display colors for registered-dot ink-jet copiers. Video RGB (red-green-blue) is converted into chromaticity coordinates in XYZ color space. An explicit solution is achieved by defining a new MSW color space which restricts the hardcopy colors to some percentage of one of the binary mixtures (M) of inks, some percentage of one of the single (S) inks, and some percentage of paper white (W). The color data in XYZ space is converted to MSW space and unreachable display colors are mapped into reachable hardcopy colors. Correction for hardcopy non-linearities is accomplished by using coverage ratios to correct for color shifts due to interaction among the inks. The MSW values are then converted to CMY (cyan-magenta-yellow) values which are processed in accordance with an appropriate dithering algorithm for conversion into dots for printing on paper.

  • Patent number: 4659946
Abstract: A memory gate for an error sampler comprises a memory capacitor having one terminal connected to a reference potential level. A current steering network has an input terminal at which it receives signal current and also has an output terminal connected to the other terminal of the memory capacitor. The current steering network either directs current received at its input terminal to its output terminal or diverts the current from the output terminal, depending on the relationship between the potential at a control terminal of the current steering network and the potential at the output terminal of the current steering network. The potential at the control terminal is biased to follow the potential at the output terminal of the current steering network, and therefore the amount by which the potential at the control terminal must be changed in order to change the state of the current steering network is independent of the voltage on the memory capacitor.

  • Patent number: 4654634
Abstract: A sequence of digital data values is processed by deriving the average W.sub.n of two of the data values X.sub.n-1 and X.sub.n+1. If W.sub.n lies within the quantization step q centered on the data value X.sub.n, W.sub.n is adopted as a modified value of X.sub.n, but if W.sub.n lies outside the quantization step the modified value of X.sub.n is taken to be X.sub.n +q/2 or X.sub.n -q/2, depending on whether W.sub.n is greater or less than X.sub.n.

  • Patent number: 4647770
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a drum (10) has a central shaft (11) which is rotatably mounted to a drum supporting frame (12). A mount (26) pivotally connects one side (30) of the frame (12) to a cabinet (14) for pivoting about a frame pivot (73). A mount (15) rigidly secures the other frame side (32) to the base (14). An isolation mounting bracket (86) supports an optical encoder (84) in position to monitor the velocity of the shaft (11). Bracket (86) has pivots (98, 100) which cooperate with the frame pivot (73) to provide in effect a parallelogram support structure for the optical encoder (84). Thus, the encoder (84) may translate, but not rotate, in response to vibrations of the frame (12) so as to minimize or eliminate erroneous encoder velocity readings otherwise arising from such vibrations.

  • Patent number: 4646355
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing undesirable dots and voids which are smaller than the user defined smallest data item of a bit-map image of a picture being scanned by a picture coding system. The bit-map is delayed as it is being generated to form a series of tessellations or windows of data of selected sizes. The windows are propagated through a series of neighborhood-logic elements which with the output data level of the outer ring of neighborhood-logic elements which define the window being examined to determine if those data levels are all of the same sense. If they are all of the same sense, then all of the neighborhood-logic elements which define the interior of the window are set or cleared so that the output data levels of all of the neighborhood-logic elements which define the window are of the same sense.

  • Patent number: 4646078
Abstract: A graphics display unit providing rapid filling of predetermined areas of the display screen with one or more predefined repetitive patterns stored in the undisplayed portion of a frame buffer memory. The picture processor in executing a display list will encounter commands to load the predefined patterns(s) into the undisplayed portion of the frame buffer memory. The pattern is copied or replicated from there across the entire width of the frame buffer, with the final replication of the pattern being truncated. The display control unit fills the predetermined shapes or areas of the image to be displayed with the pattern(s) thusly loaded into the frame buffer memory, by copying sections of the scan lines of the replicated pattern up into the displayed section of the frame buffer specifically defining the shape to be filled-in. Pattern alignment between contiguous areas to be filled in with that pattern, is provided.

  • Patent number: 4635098
Abstract: A method and system for reconstruction of chroma component segments in a line sequential chroma format television system. Filtering of a received line sequential chroma signal is employed to reconstruct missing chroma components and to attenuate phantom frequency components greater than one half the spatial sampling rate. Digital and analog filters are disclosed for implementation of such post filtering. The luminance component of the line sequential signal is delayed at the transmitter to synchronize the reconstructed chroma segment with its corresponding luminance segment with the use of minimal hardware at the receiver. Horizontal offset chroma sampling is used along with such post filtering to decrease transmission bandwidth requirements without sacrificing horizontal resolution at the receiver.
