Abstract: A communication system is provided, including a first master device to operate as a master of a communication according to a first protocol, a second master device to operate as a master of a communication according to a second protocol, a common slave device to operate as a slave of the communication according to the first protocol and the second protocol with respect to the first master device and the second master device, and a switch to control a connection between the common slave device and the first master device and between the common slave device and the second master device for a communication between the common slave device and one of the first master device to and the second master device. Thus, embodiments of the present invention provide a communication system that minimizes cost increases and improves communication speed in a system in which a plurality of master devices communicate with a slave device performing the same function as the master devices.

Abstract: A method and apparatus using Virtual Circuit Switching (VCS) in a new scheme are provided for allocating and employing resources by combining Circuit Switching (CS) and Packet Switching (PS), in which a base station allocates resources of a dedicated channel using the CS to a user and then transmits data on the dedicated channel. When data is not transmitted to the user, the base station allocates the allocated dedicated channel resources for resources of a shared channel and transmits data of a different user. Therefore, system capacity can be increased and a waste of communication resources can be minimized in a wireless communication system for frequently transmitting a small amount of traffic that is sensitive to a delay time.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating a geo-targeted message with search results are disclosed. The method and apparatus allow client entities to present target messages to computer user recipients by providing geo-targeted messaging that provides search results to computer users along with a geo-targeted message. Client entities lease words based on specified geo-target criteria on specified platforms. Users initialize the apparatus and can perform word searches utilizing the method and apparatus where the word may be a client's leased word that is associated to the user's geographic profile. Thus, the user is provided a geo-targeted message along with search results and the client is able to effectively communicate a message to targeted recipients.

Abstract: A method of managing radio resources and a Node B implementing the same are provided. If the total radio resources used in a cell exceed target radio resources signaled by an RNC, uplink rates are equally allocated to primary UEs and non-primary UEs by controlling the signal strengths of the primary and non-primary UEs.

Abstract: A monitoring apparatus and method in a mobile communication system are provided. A WGW receives information relating to a monitored subscriber from a WSS, establishes a monitoring path between the monitored subscriber and a monitoring server, upon request from the WSS, begins to monitor the monitored subscriber upon receipt of a monitoring start request from the WSS, and transmits monitored data to the monitoring server.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) is provide which reduces uplink signaling overhead in the process of reporting inter-frequency measurement results over a RACH. For measurement reporting, the UE receives an SIB including a cell information list for non-used frequency cells and a threshold from an RNC, compares signal strengths of signals received from the non-used frequency cells with the threshold, and acquires at least one inter-frequency cell ID indicating at least one non-used frequency cell having signal strength exceeding the threshold from the cell information list. The at least one inter-frequency cell ID is included in a RACH message as measurement result information for the at least one non-used frequency cell, and transmitted to the RNC. The RNC determines that the cell corresponding to the inter-frequency cell ID has signal strength exceeding the threshold.

Abstract: A method of notifying a print job to safely and conveniently share the print job, a printer and a printing system using the same are provided. The print job information notifying system includes a printer driver transmitting a print job and a designated use information, a print job information storage unit receiving the print job and the designated user information from the printer driver and storing the same, and a print job management unit notifying the designated user that the print job is stored according to contact information if the designated user information includes the contact information of the designated user.

The terminal also has a clock 208. A processor 209 is arranged to acquire a measurement vector having a list of values, each value representing a measurement made by a receiver 200,204, and the terminal clock's bias. It computes a state vector representing the current state of the system, using a previously-determined state vector, the measurement vector, and a dynamic model in order to derive a dynamic navigation solution.

Abstract: A broadcast signal processing apparatus that is capable of recording and reproducing an externally received broadcast signal with respect to a hard disc drive, and which includes a broadcast signal receiving part for receiving a broadcast signal, demodulating and dividing the received broadcast signal into a video and audio signal, a hard disc drive formatted in a file allocation table (FAT) form, and wherein the HDD has a FAT and a data region, and a control part for recording, searching and reproducing the audio and video signals with respect to the HDD based on the FAT file system. When the FAT is updated, the apparatus is further capable of adding a temporary file termination data to an end of the updated data, and converting, corresponding to a recording stop signal, the temporary file termination data into a normal file termination data according to the FAT file system.

The apparatus and method employ algorithms that can be implemented in any of a personal computer, personal data assistant, hand held computing device, blood glucose monitor, infusion pump, medication delivery pen, meter, calculator, among other therapeutic, diagnostic or informational devices used for managing a patient's blood glucose levels.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving packet data using multiple antennas in a wireless communication system is provided. In a wireless communication, system using multiple antennas, the apparatus and method can efficiently transmit and receive packet data according to channel conditions without a waste of transmission bandwidth.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a wireless telephone having at least two speakers include a first speaker mounted on a folder housing of the wireless telephone; and a second speaker mounted on a body housing of the wireless telephone. The first and second speakers can be a telephone conversation speaker or a multimedia speaker, where the multimedia speaker outputs a message reception alert tone or a ringing tone. The method and apparatus further include a rotary section for rotating the folder housing, where the first or second speakers can be mounted on the rotary section.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for generating a personalized radio channel playlist by time division multiplexing songs from multiple received channels from one or more broadcast source streams in a queue. Users specify favorite channels for building personal playlists, or multiple default playlist channels are provided by genre. Thumbs up/down buttons on the radio receiver enter a song or artist being played back into a favorites list used to search all channels for matches or a banned list used to block songs from future playlists. A matched channel carrying the favorite is added to the playlist. Segments on the playlist are dynamically truncated to reduce the average time each segment is played and facilitate preview. Preview times can vary depending on the size of the playlist or number of channels used. Connectivity options and web interfaces facilitate transfer and sharing of customization parameters for personalized radio configuration.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for receiving, by an access network (AN), reception strength of a forward pilot channel, measured and reported by each access terminal (AT), as forward data rate information, and transmitting packet data to each AT according to the forward data rate information. When the number of repeated transmission slots for packet data transmitted based on the forward data rate information is greater than or equal to two, the AN repeatedly transmits the packet data as many times as the number of slots, which is less than the number of repeated transmission slots, and transmits new packet data through the remaining slots.

Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for performing diagnostic functions of an external device such as a printer, connected to a host computer. The apparatus and method receive information about diagnostic functions supported by the external device from the external device; receive one or more of the diagnostic functions which are selected by a user; request the external device to perform the selected diagnostic functions; and receive the results of the requested diagnostic functions from the external device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting user equipment (UE) status information in communication with one serving Node B and at least one non-serving Node B in a mobile communication system. The method and apparatus comprise generating transport channel data including UE status information; transmitting the transport channel data to the serving Node B and the at least one non-serving Node B, receiving a response signal for the transport channel data from the serving Node B, and retransmitting the transport channel data if the response signal received from the serving Node B is a non-acknowledge (NACK) signal, and ending the retransmission of the transport channel data if the response signal received from the serving Node B is an acknowledge (ACK) signal.

Abstract: Apparatus and Method for transmitting control message related to a packet call service in an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) that transmits/receives an IMS control message using a control plane to reduce a delay caused by setting of a user plane in a packet call setup process. A user equipment (UE) determines whether an IMS service is registered in response to a radio resource control (RRC) connection request. The UE sets an SRB_IMS request parameter requiring that the IMS control message be processed through a signaling radio bearer (SRB) depending on whether the IMS service is registered. The UE transmits an RRC connection request message including the SRB_IMS request parameter to a radio network controller (RNC). The UE configures an SRB_IMS entity.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for reliable, wireless group alerting in a system having a database, switch, wireless network, and a plurality of intelligent mobile receivers, and preferably employing a modified two-way paging based on ReFLEX™ protocol information service (IS) messages and a novel ALOHA command for multicast acknowledgement from mobile receivers. An encrypted message is broadcast to a group address and received by a selected number of the mobile receivers. The network replies to the sender with detailed information about the individual members in the alert group. Each of the mobile receivers in the group then acknowledges the common message back to the system, decrypts the message, displays it to the user, and allows the user to respond. The system employs centralized management to simplify the roles of the mobile users and administrators, minimizing configuration and operational human errors that would otherwise result in confusion or lost messages.
