Abstract: An apparatus and method for a function setting event in a mobile terminal according to user position information are disclosed. According to the apparatus and method, a character agent function is added to a mobile terminal, and when an event occurs in the mobile terminal, the event occurrence and process is expressed by corresponding character User Interfaces (UIs). When user position information confirming event and function setting related event occur, they can be expressed through the character agent function.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus and a method of controlling the same are provided. The image forming apparatus includes a device information storage unit, a determiner and a controller. The device information storage unit is included in a replaceable device of the image forming apparatus and stores device-related information. The determiner determines whether the replaceable deice is a licensed or recycled product by analyzing the information stored in the device information storage unit, and outputs the determination result. The controller controls an operation of the image forming apparatus in response to the determination result output from the determiner. Since an operation of the image forming apparatus can be controlled according to characteristics of the replaceable device installed in the image forming apparatus, printing quality can be prevented from being deteriorated, durability of the image forming apparatus can be lengthened, and a user can safely use the image forming apparatus.

Abstract: A retransmission method and apparatus performed in a transmitter of a mobile communication system supporting a Hybrid Automatic Retransmission reQuest (HARQ) operation and an Automatic Retransmission request (ARQ) operation for retransmission of a packet are provided. At least one ARQ entity generates at least one ARQ packet, and an HARQ entity transmits an HARQ packet including the at least one ARQ packet to a receiver, and transmits a local NACK signal indicating transmission fail of the ARQ packet to a corresponding ARQ entity, if the HARQ packet fails in transmission.

Abstract: A method of calculating the position or state of motion of one or more terminals is proposed in which each has a receiver capable of making measurements of signals received from one or more transmission sources for use in calculating the unknown position or state of motion of the or each terminal. At least one transmission source has a known directional transmission pattern, and the bearing from one of the receivers of the or each of the transmission source having a known directional transmission pattern is estimated. Weights are assigned to the measurements made by the one receiver, the weights being calculated from the bearing or bearings and the known directional transmission pattern of the transmission sources.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispersing user equipments (UEs) to non-preferred frequencies in a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MEMS) system is provided. Information regarding a time required until a next session of the MBMS service is started is received. A determination is made as to whether to set a layer dispersion indicator (LDI) in a session stop message, according to the time required until the next session is started. The determined session stop message is sent to the UEs.

Abstract: A device for fusing a predetermined toner image on a paper and which electrically insulates a heating body of a fusing unit from a power supply unit by heating the heating body using an induced current generated by a transformer. The fusing device includes an insulation unit for generating an induced current in response to an alternating current, a heating body heated by the generated induced current, a toner fusing unit which fuses the toner image on the paper using the heat received from the heating body, and a tube-expansion adhesion portion closely adhering the heating body to the toner fusing unit using a predetermined tube-expansion pressure.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of constructing an integrated artificial immune system that comprises appropriate in vitro cellular and tissue constructs or their equivalents to mimic the normal tissues that interact with vaccines in mammals. The artificial immune system can be used to test the efficacy of vaccine candidates in vitro and thus, is useful to accelerate vaccine development and testing drug and chemical interactions with the immune system.

Abstract: A white detecting method and apparatus using the same are disclosed, wherein the white detecting method includes steps for using a luminance division and/or using a window division for white detecting. The luminance division detects a white by using at least one color data information existing in a white area, and the window division detects a mean value of at least one color data information existing in the white area as a white. With this, the white which forms a reference in color correction, can be accurately detected, thereby improving a stability of color sense and reducing an error probability in white balancing.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically classifying files on a mobile communication terminal are provided. The inventive method and apparatus enable the files to be automatically classified and copied into a desired storage folder on the mobile communication terminal. An exemplary method for automatically classifying files on a mobile communication terminal includes receiving a command to copy a selected file, determining an attribute of the selected file, determining a storage folder in which to store the file according to the attribute of the file and copying and storing the file in the determined storage folder. The method and apparatus enable files that a user desires to copy from an external device to the user's mobile communication terminal to be automatically classified according to their attributes and be stored in storage folders corresponding to the attributes, thus minimizing the inconvenience of individually designating a storage folder for each file whenever the files are copied.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for correcting a color registration are provided for improving the quality of images of an image forming apparatus. A surface condition is estimated of an intermediate transfer belt used to correct a color registration. A determination is made as to whether an abnormal section exists on the intermediate transfer belt. Location information is stored regarding the abnormal section on the intermediate transfer belt, if the abnormal section exists. A mark for color registration correction is formed on a normal section, other than the abnormal section. The color registration is corrected using the mark. Accordingly, if a partially inferior section appears in the intermediate transfer belt and a mark is not normally formed, the color registration is successfully corrected.

Abstract: An image recording/reproducing apparatus and a control method thereof to provide the functions of recording image files in a recording medium and reproducing and editing the image files recorded in the recording medium. The apparatus and method enables a user to easily select and manipulate functions of the apparatus using a menu display, and can record, reproduce and edit the image files according to the function selected by the user. The apparatus and method, therefore allows the user to easily select and manipulate the functions using a displayed menu, and more efficiently manage and easily search for the recorded image files.

Abstract: A content distribution system is provided to facilitate e-commerce transactions for products and services associated with distributed content. A content stream comprising content blocks, reference content blocks and floating reference content blocks uses metadata to identify products and services associated with content blocks. The metadata and floating reference content blocks are used to substitute dynamically selected content for content blocks based on profiles of user(s), the broadcast station, the advertisement spot defined in the stream and content available for substitution. A market server determines optimal matches to support content substitution, and performs brokerage and bidding functions among suppliers of products or services associated with content selected by users.

Abstract: A method is described, for use with an SPS mobile terminal receiver 102, of providing a compact assistance vector to initialize and constrain the computation of the terminal's location within a region of validity. The compact assistance vector is provided to a computing node 108 able also to obtain measurements from a mobile terminal satellite positioning system receiver within said region. For a known reference point 104 within the region, the range or ranges from the reference point to one or more satellites 101 of the satellite positioning system are obtained. The range or ranges are represented by a number or numbers of ranging code repeat intervals in a limited resolution format. The compact assistance vector is created from the representation or representations of ranging code repeat intervals and transferred to the computing node 108. The compact assistance vector can then be used to initialize a location computation for the SPS mobile terminal receiver 102.

Abstract: Disclosed are a device and method for securely storing and organizing SDARS content on a portable player. SDARS audio content is stored on a private partition of the device not available to a client PC. Shadow files are stored on a public partition of the device. The shadow files contain metadata related to the corresponding SDARS audio and a reference to the SDARS audio on the private partition. Playlists can be organized on the device intermixing stored SDARS content with DRM and non-DRM protected media content. Downloading of purchased or subscription-based media files based on observed or received SDARS content is facilitated. Digital Rights Management features are included to control authorized actions with respect to SDARS content. Firmware updates are performed using encrypted firmware unique to the particular device to thwart firmware hacking.

Abstract: The present invention incorporates germinal centers (GCs) into three-dimensional (3D) engineered tissue constructs (ETCs). In an embodiment, we have incorporated the GC in the design of an artificial immune system (AIS) to examine immune responses to vaccines and other compounds. Development of an in vitro GC adds functionality to an AIS, in that it enables generation of an in vitro human humoral response by human B lymphocytes that is accurate and reproducible, without using human subjects. The invention also permits evaluation of, for example, vaccines, allergens, and immunogens, and activation of human B cells specific for a given antigen, which can then be used to generate human antibodies. In an embodiment of the present invention the function of the in vitro GC is enhanced by placing FDCs and other immune cells in a 3D ETC; FDCs appear more effective over a longer time (antibody production is sustained for up to about 14 days.
