  • Patent number: 6068478
Abstract: An impression system includes an impression cap (4) for transferring an end, protruding from a human tissue structure, of an implant (1) which is fitted in the human body, including possible superstructures, to a master cast. The outwardly directed implant end has an undercut contour on its outside, and the impression cap (4) has a geometry which complements the undercut contour and engages therein. The undercut contour is formed either by an implant geometry tapering in a trumpet shape towards the implant bed, or by a recess near the implant end. Taking an impression and producing a master cast are greatly simplified with the impression system. In addition, the actual geometrical situation on the patient can be transferred to the master cast with greater precision.

  • Patent number: 6029806
Abstract: A suture package includes a base panel with a needle park and a plurality of pockets having plural compartments stacked in the Z direction. The package is suitable for containing and dispensing a plurality of double-armed sutures during time-critical surgery and promotes tangle-free dispensing by winding the sutures through the compartments in a serpentine manner to avoid suture-to-suture interaction. Spatial separation of the needles in the needle park and color coding of the sutures allows for easy identification of the individual sutures during dispensing and when tying off the sutures during surgery.

  • Patent number: 6026804
Abstract: A fluid heater includes a housing, a burner unit disposed in a bottom portion of the housing for burning combustible fuel, a combustion chamber disposed within the housing where the fuel is burned and a heat exchanger disposed substantially within the housing over the combustion chamber. The heat exchanger absorbs heat generated from burning the fuel and conducts the heat to a fluid to be heated. The heat exchanger includes a pair of spaced, parallel, stainless steel tubesheets with a plurality of tubes running therebetween and sealingly received within mating apertures in each of the tubesheets. A plastic front header and a plastic rear header are removably attached to the tubesheets distal to said tubes. The apertures in the tubesheets preferably have forged flanges for increasing the surface contact area with the heat exchanger tubes. The heat exchanger is corrosion resistant due to the combination of corrosion-resistant tubesheets, tubes and headers.

  • Patent number: 6023845
Abstract: An electric cigar cutter employs a motor-driven, rotatable cutting blade which functions to trim a cigar by cutting off the tip. The cutting blade pivots, and as it pivots, it passes through the cigar, thereby cutting the tip. The present invention incorporates two safety features, to prevent accidental activation of the cigar cutter and to protect a user's fingers from contacting the cutting blade. Additionally, a mechanism is provided for adjusting the amount of the cigar to be cut off.

  • Patent number: 6016682
Abstract: A swaging apparatus for attaching sutures to surgical needles includes at least a first die and a second die. The first die has a first member, which includes a first surface, and a second member, which includes a second surface. The second member is movable relative to the first member between an extended position, in which the second surface extends beyond the first surface, and a retracted position, in which the second surface does not extend beyond the first surface. The second die has at least one surface and is movable relative to the first die between a remote position and an adjacent position. When the second die moves relative to the first die from the remote position towards the adjacent position, the second member of the first die is caused to move from the extended position towards the retracted position, and the surfaces of the first and second dies cooperate with one another so as to swage a surgical needle positioned between the first and second dies.

  • Patent number: 6004458
Abstract: A filter/sanitizer has a filter housing, provided with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a filter cartridge with a hollow interior, located within the filter housing, and a sanitizer cartridge, with a hollow core, positioned within the hollow interior of the filter cartridge. In a preferred embodiment, the sanitizer cartridge is constructed with an outer fluid-permeable member and an inner fluid-permeable member, the outer and inner members substantially enveloping a space therebetween, with the space containing a sanitizing media bed. In operation, as fluid enters the filter housing through the fluid inlet, substantially the full flow of fluid passes through the filter cartridge, through the sanitizer cartridge and around the sanitizing media contained within the bed, into the hollow core of the sanitizer cartridge, and out of the filter housing through the fluid outlet.

  • Patent number: 5993753
Abstract: A dual chemical feeder device treats a fluid simultaneously with two different chemical compositions which may not be wholly compatible. In an exemplary embodiment for application in swimming pools, hot tubs, spas and the like, a chlorinator is combined with a sanitizing canister in a chlorinator/sanitizer to chemically treat the full flow of water through the apparatus with a chlorine-based chemical composition and another chemical composition. In alternate embodiments, the chlorinator/sanitizer is configured as a parallel treatment unit and as a series treatment unit. In the series treatment unit, the full flow through the chlorinator also flows through the sanitizing media in the santizing canister, so that all the water is both chlorinated and sanitized by the chlorinator/sanitizer. In the parallel treatment unit, the flow within the unit is divided into two streams which are separately treated.

  • Patent number: 5961049
Abstract: Provided in the shower spray, which may also be connected, as a hand-held shower with a handle piece (110'), to a flexible water hose, are two optionally activable reservoirs (150') and two storage and supply chambers (160') which are assigned to said reservoirs and are intended for receiving ingredients. By means of a venturi nozzle arranged in the shower spray, with appropriate setting, ambient air can be taken in through the ingredients and aromatized as a result. This aromatized air is admixed to the through-flowing water jet at the venturi nozzle. There is no need for any external, voluminous containers or complicated valve mechanisms. The quantity and type of the ingredients to be admixed can be set directly on the hand-held shower spray by a control lever and metering screws (170').

  • Patent number: 5947733
Abstract: The connection arrangement between an implant (1) and a straight or angled abutment (800) can be produced using a clamping screw (400) and an expanding ring (500). An inlet (830) is provided in the abutment (800), and near the lower end of the abutment (800) this inlet (830) is widened via a radially encircling groove (835). The expanding ring (500) through which the clamping screw (400) passes is supported in the groove (835), the head (410) of the clamping screw (400) pressing on the expanding ring (500), and its threaded segment (430) engaging in the threaded bore (21) of the implant (1). The clamping screw (400) can be pushed from below into the inlet (830), with the expanding ring (500) pushed on and with the head (410) leading. The implant (1) can have a non-rotationally symmetrical receiving contour on the inner cone, primarily an inner polygon, and the abutment (800) advantageously has a counter-contour complementary to the receiving contour. A special screwdriver is used for screwing.
