  • Patent number: 7669305
Abstract: A method and article for designing dual-mode adapters in a joint press kit. A plurality of ball joints for use with the adapters are selected. An adapter design is created by defining a first variable representative of a physical characteristic of the adapter design; defining a second variable representing a quantity of ball joints that are not compatible with the adapter design in a second operational mode; generating data sets including the first and second variables; and utilizing the data sets to determine a value for a characteristic of the adapter.

  • Patent number: 7664753
Abstract: An internet and/or intranet based database search system and method for conducting searches of highly confidential records such as individual patient medical records and to automate the process of securing required approvals to make such records available to a properly authorized and authenticated requesting party. The system's central premise is that the patient has a fundamental right to the confidentiality of their personal medical records and should control that right through specific, informed consent each time that a party requests to receive them. It reinforces the widely held conception of privacy in general as well as of the sanctity of the doctor/patient relationship by granting the doctor the right, subject to the patient's express permission, to initiate a search request.

  • Patent number: 7658570
Abstract: A remotely actuated manhole system is disclosed having a cover that is pivotable relative to a frame secured with a collar on a bulk carrier, the cover being pivotable around a substantially vertical axis between and to open and closed positions. In the closed position covering an opening to a compartment in the bulk carrier, the cover is shiftable vertically between and to locked and unlocked positions by an inflatable seal member below the cover. The manhole system includes catches that prevent over-rotation of the cover from the open position to the closed position, and the catches engage in the locked position by the vertical upward movement of the cover. The inflation of the seal member and the pivoting of the cover are remotely actuated.

  • Patent number: 7658581
Abstract: A threaded element of plastic material for a joining assembly has a uniquely formed thread profile of a small profile angle between 30° and 50° and a rounded crest of a relatively large radius of curvature. The gap between the revolutions of the thread is of a volume which exceeds that of the thread. In order to provide for a specific cutting geometry of the thread profile the threaded element comprises a plurality of angular segments which are radially offset with respect to each other such that adjacent angular segments provide cutting edges. Furthermore, a tool and a method for making such a joining assembly are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7660980
Abstract: Methods and systems for establishing secure TCP/IP communications for individual network connections include the steps of intercepting a conventional TCP SYN packet prior to transmission from a source node to a destination node, embedding unique identifiers into standard fields of the packet header, wherein the unique identifiers are associated with the specific connection attempt and wherein the unique identifiers identify the user account and/or the computer hardware initiating the communication attempt, then forwarding the modified TCP SYN packet to the destination node and intercepting the modified TCP SYN packet prior to arrival, determining whether secure communications are required based on the unique identifiers extracted from the packet headers, based on other TCP/IP information, and based on predefined rules associated with the same. If secure communications are required, such requirement is communicated within either an RST or a SYN-ACK back to the source node.

  • Patent number: 7656257
Abstract: A low energy magnet actuator allows magnetic fields to be turned on and off using a small amount of energy. The magnetic actuator according to the invention generally includes a base suitable for the support of a plurality of magnets. An actuatable shield is positioned in relation to the plurality of magnets so that it effectively blocks the magnetic field when it is positioned over at least one of the magnets. The magnetic fields of the plurality of magnets interact in a manner that allows low energy actuation of the shield.

  • Patent number: 7644730
Abstract: A fluid isolation valve having a valve body with a first fluid flow port, a second fluid flow port and a fluid drain port with a valve in the fluid drain port. The valve body also defines a fluid flow channel, a drain flow channel and a valve portion, wherein the valve portion is disposed in the valve body to be communicated with the first fluid flow port, the second fluid flow port and the fluid drain port. A flow diversion device is also provided and is disposed within the valve portion. The flow diversion device is configurable between a first configuration and a second configuration, such that when the flow diversion device is in the first configuration the first fluid flow port is communicated with the second fluid flow port. Consequently, when the flow diversion device is in the second configuration the first fluid flow port is communicated with the fluid drain port. The fluid flow can be decrease or stop by use of the valve within the fluid drain port.

  • Patent number: 7634820
Abstract: An adjustment mechanism for a helmet. A first sliding surface is defined in a first portion of the helmet and includes an opening. A second sliding surface is defined in a second portion of the helmet. Two spaced apart arms extend from the second sliding surface. The first and second sliding surfaces are in sliding engagement with one another with the arms sliding within the opening. A lever is pivotally connected to the first portion in proximity of the opening and pivotable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The lever has a series of regularly spaced apart parallel teeth which in the locked position protrude through the opening with at least a selected one of the teeth being engageable between the two spaced apart arms to prevent the first and second sliding surfaces from sliding relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 7634518
Abstract: A data management and archive method and apparatus, such as for implementation in an automated system to monitor and manage status, performance and configuration data for a plurality of networked storage components. Analysis and cross-correlation of data related to the plurality of storage components can be done individually, collectively and/or comparatively. A collection manager component of a workload analyzer is implemented to start and stop data collection in the context of a system comprising at least one storage component (or at least two networked storage components). The collection manager includes a command and control module that coordinates requests of data from at least one collection agent configured on at least one host connected to the storage component(s). The collection manager manages collection of data and effects file transfer of collected data according to a user specified policy, and maintains status of the data collected.

  • Patent number: 7628573
Abstract: A self-piercing rivet of a special rivet geometry is described, which in particular is suitable for joining high strength steel sheets, but can also be used for other metal sheets. The self-piercing rivet is in particular characterized by a special underhead geometry as well as a special geometry of the rivet foot (cutting region). Thus the self-piercing rivet has an underhead chamfer which with a radial plane of the self-piercing rivet encloses an angle of 20°+5°/?5° and merges tangentially into the cylindrical outer surface of the rivet shank via a radius. In the region of the rivet foot the self-piercing rivet has a plane shank face, which extends essentially at a right angle to the rivet axis and which merges “smoothly” into the cylindrical inner surface via a shank inner surface and a radius.

  • Patent number: 7628183
Abstract: A nozzle ejects a liquid stream generally horizontally inward from a location near the periphery of a tank, and fairly close to the upper surface of liquid in the tank. The liquid stream impinges on a splash plate or deflector to break the liquid stream into a reasonably uniform dispersion of droplets over a substantial area of the surface of the liquid in the tank, which reduces the surface foam.
