  • Patent number: 4826349
Abstract: A vehicle barricade comprises a frame having an open top and bottom, side, front and rear portions. A barrier plate is pivotally associated with the frame for being pivoted between a first and a second position. A cylinder and piston assembly pivots the barrier plate between the positions. A first stop extends from and is carried by the barrier plate. A second stop is connected to the frame and is engageable with the first stop for preventing said barrier plate from pivoting beyond said second position. A plurality of tubes extend forwardly from the front portion and prevent the frame from moving in the event the barrier plate is impacted by a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4825729
Abstract: A torque transfer gear system comprises a plurality of first and second torque disks. The first torque disks each comprise a disk having first and second parallel surfaces and a plurality of gear teeth extending equiangularly thereabout but not extending radially beyond the associated disk circumference. The second torque disks likewise include a disk having a plurality of equiangularly disposed teeth, and the teeth do not extend beyond the associated disk circumference. The first torque disks are disposed in spaced apart relation and are rotatable on parallel axes. The second torque disks are also disposed in spaced apart relation and the teeth of the second torque disks are in meshing engagement with the teeth of the adjacent first torque disks. Application of torque to one of the first torque disks causes all torque disks to rotate and thereby transfer torque from one disk to another.

  • Patent number: 4821825
Abstract: An air-portable all-terrain vehicle is provided with six wheels on three equidistant axles all driven from a single engine via two transfer boxes and differential gear units on each axle. The axles are fully floating beam axles on long travel coil springs and controlled by radius arms and Panhard rods. The radius arms may be parallel to and co-extensive with the respective propeller shafts coupling the differential gears to the transfer boxes and the connections between the propeller shafts and the transfer box outputs may include torsional vibration dampers. A dual circuit braking system with a deceleration sensing valve can be provided to limit the hydraulic pressure to the front wheel brakes. Loading/unloading in the field is facilitated by demountable side panels serving also as loading ramps.

  • Patent number: 4821631
Abstract: A food cooking device for cooking Oriental dishes is disclosed comprising a base and a cooking pan support means pivoted to the base. An acceleration and deceleration means is provided for rapidly accelerating upwardly from a starting position to at least the rear portion of the support means at an initial high velocity followed by a subsequent rapid deceleration, whereby when the cooking pan is positioned on the support means, it will move upwardly with the support means and propel food placed therein into the air upon rapid deceleration of the support means, thereby causing the food to be turned for uniform heating of different portions of the food.

  • Patent number: 4821964
Abstract: A two-material atomizing nozzle to produce a solid cone jet with a jet angle larger than 45.degree. comprises a nozzle unit with a first duct coaxial with the nozzle discharge and receiving a gaseous medium (for instance air) and a liquid medium (for instance water), a second duct orthogonal to the first duct and issuing into it serving to supply the liquid medium. To supply the gaseous medium, the nozzle unit comprises a third duct issuing into the first duct at the level of the second duct and being orthogonal or essentially orthogonal to both. A recoil bottom is provided for the premixed two-material mixture in the first duct and comprises communication apertures to an annular duct coaxial with and preceding the nozzle discharge into which it merges. The nozzle discharge also is in the shape of an annular duct, however its external boundary is flaring.

  • Patent number: 4819416
Abstract: The present invention discloses an apparatus for cutting grass and the like comprising a rotary cutting member. The rotary cutting member includes a hub and a plurality of arms extending therefrom. Each of the arms includes a line holder for receiving a flexible cutting filament. The flexible cutting filaments include first and second cutting elements. The flexible cutting filaments are prestressed so that the first cutting element intersects the second cutting element thereby forming a substantially V-shaped flexible cutting filament. Each of the arms includes an air foil positioned remote from the hub. The air foil creates a low pressure area above the blade which will facilitate lifting the grass upward in the direction of the lawnmover blade.

  • Patent number: 4819761
Abstract: A sound radiating loudspeaker and tubular enclosure combination wherein the tubular enclosure is either formed in a helical configuration or two or more straight tubular sections which interest each other at an angle. In either form the tube is capable of free standing on a supporting surface with a loudspeaker closing the upper end of the tube and angled generally toward a listening area. Also in either form, additional speakers enclosed in shorter tubes may be joined to the main tube with all speakers either in a common plane or in planes at a slight angle to one another.

  • Patent number: 4819547
Abstract: An actuator has a first connection point and a second connection point at opposite ends and is contractable along an axis extending between the connection points. The actuator has at least one hollow enclosure with an opening for admitting a pressurized fluid. A simultaneously radially expandable, axially contractable constraining means cooperates with the enclosure. The constraining means converts radial expansion of the actuator into axial contraction when pressurized fluid is admitted into the enclosure. In a preferred form, the constraining means comprises a network of non-stretchable, flexible tension links.

  • Patent number: 4818191
Abstract: A double-acting diaphragm pump system for pumping and spraying materials, particularly corrosive liquids and abrasive fluids. The system includes a hydraulically driven double-acting diaphragm pmup which is electrically controlled for alternately pumping material through the dual pump chambers to an outlet pipe. The diaphragms of the double-acting pump are moved back and forth by a dual-acting hydraulic cylinder powered by a hydrostatic transmission for providing automatic response to pumped fluid needs, coupled with overpressure protection. An expansion tank maintains a constant pressure on the fluid as it is discharged from the pump. The system is capable of spraying abrasive slurries of a wide variety, at an even spray pattern, as the system wears, and hardened wear rings around the inlet and outlet valves permit the pump to be inexpensively rebuilt after extended use pumping abrasive slurries.
