Abstract: A heat treatment apparatus with a process chamber, a tubular heater, a heat exhaust system and a cooling section. The heater surrounds an outer circumference of the process chamber. The heat exhaust system exhausts an atmosphere in a space between the heater and the process chamber. The cooling section blows a cooling fluid into the space to cool the atmosphere. The heater includes a tubular heat insulator, a heat generating resistor on an inner circumference of the heat insulator, and an outer shell provided on an outer circumference of the heat insulator. The cooling section includes at least one annular flow path between the heat insulator and the outer shell, and an outlet in the heat insulator. The outlet blows cooling fluid toward a vertical central axis of the heat insulator, or in a direction oblique to the direction toward vertical central axis of the heat insulator.
Abstract: The present invention relates to nucleotide sequences encoding enzymatically active cobalamin-methionine synthase and functional fragments thereof that are modified in comparison to the respective wild-type enzyme such that said enzymes show reduced product inhibition by methionine. The present invention also relates to polypeptides being encoded by such nucleotide sequences and host cells comprising such nucleotide sequences. Furthermore, the present invention relates to methods for producing methionine in host organisms by making use of such nucleotide sequences.

Abstract: There is described Pd enriched diesel oxidation catalysts and their application as catalysts for the oxidation of CO and HC emissions from a compression ignition/diesel engine. The catalysts are characterized by increased performance and hydrothermal durability these goals being achieved by employing a layered design to eliminate low temperature catalyst quenching by toxic HC species in the exhaust stream.
Abstract: A cushioning device with double layer cover with the layers connected to define first and second pockets. The first and second pocket having access openings for insertion and removal of shell sections to be placed in a stacked state. A closure device as in a zipper for adjustable placement of the cover in a cover interior cavity closure state and a cover interior cavity access state. A first core insert received within the cover interior cavity. The arrangement of the present invention makes it well suited for use as an adjustable head pillow kit featuring a variety of different comfort level core inserts that can be switched out to achieve a personal overall comfort level. A method of assembling the cushion and adjusting the comfort level with different inserts is also presented.

Abstract: When a barrier film is formed on an exposed surface of an interlayer insulation film on a substrate, the interlayer insulation film having a recess formed therein, and a metal wiring to be electrically connected to a metal wiring in a lower layer is formed in the recess, a barrier film having an excellent step coverage can be formed and increase of a wiring resistance can be restrained. An oxide film on a surface of the lower copper wiring exposed to a bottom surface of the interlayer insulation film is reduced or edged so as to remove oxygen on the surface of the copper wiring. Then, by supplying an organic metal compound containing manganese and containing no oxygen, generation of manganese oxide as a self-forming barrier film is selectively allowed on an area containing oxygen, such as a sidewall of the recess and a surface of the interlayer insulation film, while generation of the manganese oxide is not allowed on the surface of the copper wiring. Thereafter, copper is embedded in the recess.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for managing active safety for an automatically operating machine comprising a work surface and a work tool displaced according to a pre-established work program. The method consists of dividing (100) the work surface into several zones and, during the work program cycle and in response to detection (200) of an operator's intrusion into a first zone when the tool is active in a second zone, also consists of carrying out at least one of the following actions: keeping (210) the tool's programmed displacement at the normal speed if the tool's displacement is programmed in a zone not adjacent to the first one, keeping (220) the tool's programmed displacement at reduced speed if the tool's displacement is programmed in a zone adjacent to the first one and modifying (230) the work program if the tool's displacement is programmed in the first zone so that the tool's work can be continued in a zone other than the first one.

Abstract: A road-surface friction-coefficient estimating device compares a rack-thrust-force deviation value with a preliminarily set maximum-value-determination threshold value. If the rack-thrust-force deviation value is above the maximum-value-determination threshold value, the device determines that tires are slipping, and sets a front-wheel friction-circle utilization rate in that state as a road-surface friction coefficient. If the rack-thrust-force deviation value is below the maximum-value-determination threshold value, the device refers to a preliminarily set map to determine a restoring speed at which the road-surface friction coefficient is to be restored to 1.0 based on a vehicle speed and a front-wheel slip angle. While restoring the road-surface friction coefficient at the restoring speed, the device calculates and outputs the road-surface friction coefficient.

The chirped grating structure includes a first region, a second region, and a third region arranged in that order in a predetermined axis direction, the first, second, and third regions including a plurality of projections constituting a chirped grating. The plurality of projections are provided at placement positions arranged with a predetermined pitch in the predetermined axis direction. The coupling coefficient ? of the chirped grating monotonically increases in the predetermined axis direction to a predetermined value in the first region, remains flat in the second region, and monotonically decreases in the predetermined axis direction from the predetermined value in the third region.
Abstract: An effective algorithm for the CPU with a flash memory is disclosed to shorten a dead time to erase the flash memory and to write new data therein. The flash memory of the invention provides front and back blocks for the user data area. When the front block is filled, the back block is erased just after the front block is fully filled in advance to receive a new data next to be written.
Abstract: An driving assist control unit controls actuators such as a front wheel steering device, an accelerator pedal mechanism, an alarm lamp. The control units estimates permissible tire-force being capable of acting on the vehicle tire on the basis of road-surface friction coefficient and ground load of the tire, and then calculates tire-force margin by subtracting current tire-force currently acting on the tire, such as total driving force and lateral force, from the permissible tire-force. The control unit then controls steering reaction force of the front wheel steering device, reaction force of the accelerator pedal, and flashing frequency of the alarm lamp in accordance with the magnitude of the tire-force margin, respectively.

Abstract: A substrate heating apparatus includes a top plate arranged above a hot plate so that a vertical space is formed between the hot plate and the top plate. The top plate has an evacuated internal chamber serving as a vacuum insulating layer that suppresses heat transfer from a first surface of the top plate facing the hot plate to a second surface of the top plate opposite to the first surface. When heating the substrate, a gas flow flowing through the space between the hot plate and the top plate is generated.
Abstract: A heat treatment apparatus has a substrate holder with two holder constituting bodies that each have a plurality of columns and substrate holding sections. One of the holder constituting bodies holds substrates so that their front surfaces face upward, while the other holds the substrates so that their back surfaces face upward. At least one of the holder constituting bodies moves vertically to change the positions of the holder constituting bodies relative to each other. A distance between one of a first pair of vertically-adjacent substrates with respective front surfaces facing each other and the other of the first pair of substrates is set to ensure treatment uniformity and to be larger than a distance between one of a second pair of vertically-adjacent substrates with their respective back surfaces facing each other and the other of the second pair of substrates.
