Patent number: 5475314Abstract: A method for improving accuracy of estimating natural frequency of a distribution system. The estimation is performed in order to identify a rectifier load that generates harmonics due to commutation oscillation. It includes the steps of measuring a charging current flowing into a power factor improving capacitor to obtain first data, removing fundamental frequency from the first data to obtain second data, determining, from the second data, a first time at which the amplitude of commutating oscillation components takes a maximum value, picking up third data in the interval beginning from the first time and ending at a second time later than the first time by T/N, where T is the period of the fundamental frequency, and N is the number of rectifier phases, performing frequency analysis on the third data to form fourth data by expanding the third data into a Fourier series, and determining a local peak frequency, that is, the natural frequency in the fourth data.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1995Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Fuji Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Naoki Kunihiro, Tadashi Naito

Patent number: 5475719Abstract: Accurate phase switching of similar pulse trains having different phase position, in which a respectively selected pulse train determines a pulse train to be distributed by means of a phase locked loop, is achieved. Each pulse train is individually delayed so the phase position is roughly adjusted to zero with respect to the pulse train to be distributed. Each non-selected pulse train is continuously compared with the pulse train to be distributed. A phase error voltage is determined that corresponds to a phase difference still present as it would become effective as a control voltage in the phase locked loop. An oppositely equal correcting voltage is added to the phase error voltage to produce a sum, and the sum is made available as an output voltage. Switching to another pulse train is effected by maintaining the relevant correcting voltage at a momentary value and switching the associated output voltage into the phase locked loop as a control voltage in place of a previously used output voltage.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1994Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Alcatel N.V.Inventors: Michael O. Patent number: 5473304Abstract: A method is disclosed for the protection of catalytic converters for exhaust gas purification by measuring the temperature with a heat tone sensor suitable particularly for the implementation of the method, wherein a heat tone sensor composed of at least two NTC or PTC resistors and provided with a coating of a catalytically active material on the sensor in the region of at least one of these resistors is arranged ahead of the catalytic converter in the exhaust gas stream or a part thereof, with the catalytically active material initiating the same exothermal reactions as they take place in the catalytic converter employed for the exhaust gas purification. Patent number: 5473702Abstract: An adaptive filter estimates the noise component in a primary audio signal by convolving a secondary audio signal with a set of coefficients. The estimated noise component is subtracted from the primary audio signal to produce an output signal. During steady-state operation, the adaptive filter coefficients are updated as to minimize the difference between the primary audio signal and the estimated noise component. Steady-state operation is identified automatically by monitoring the power level of the primary or secondary audio signal, or the power level of the output signal. Coefficient updating is suspended when the monitored power level rises from a steady state to an unsteady state, and is resumed when the monitored power level returns to its previous steady-state level, or settles into a new steady state.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1993Date of Patent: December 5, 1995Assignee: Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tatsumasa Yoshida, Ryoichi Miyamoto, Masashi Takada, Katsuya Suzuki

Patent number: 5472915Abstract: The invention relates to an opto-electronic component having a narrow aperture angle. The conventional design of components transmitting radiation or reacting to radiation and concentrating that radiation with the aid of lenses results, on account of the increasing distance between the lens and the semiconductor chip, in increasing component dimensions in the radiating or detecting direction with an increasingly narrow aperture angle. In accordance with the invention, a parabolic or approximately parabolic reflector is provided that is connected to a support strip supporting the semiconductor chip such that the latter is as close as possible to the focal point of the parabolic or approximately parabolic surface of the reflector. The reflector is preferably connected to the support strip by engaging elements and surrounded by a housing.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1994Date of Patent: December 5, 1995Assignee: Temic Telefunken microelectronic GmbHInventors: Werner Schairer, Jorg Angerstein, Siegfried Giebler, Jurgen Riedel, Thomas Mistele
