    Abstract: An antenna for an electronic projectile detonator. A desired antenna pattern which is rotationally symmetrical to the longitudinal axis of the projectile is produced by designing the antenna as a dipole which is fed via a coaxial line and which is decoupled from the feeder line by a .lambda./4 wave trap. The dipole is realized by a frustoconical widened portion of an extension of the inner conductor of the coaxial feeder line, which widened portion constitutes the detonator head in the tip of the projectile and coincides, as regards position and direction, with the longitudinal axis of the projectile at the feed point of the antenna, and the wave trap which is also designed to be rotationally symmetrical to the longitudinal axis of the projectile.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the deposition of particles in the respiratory tract and/or for checking the operating function of the respiratory tract by means of pulses of gases or aerosols injected into a stream of air inhaled by a test patient and by obtaining a measuring signal in each of the inhaled and exhaled streams. The main stream of the inhaled and exhaled air is conducted directly through a band of light (3), and the region of the intersection of the band of light with at least part of the inhaled and exhaled streams is placed in the object plane of an optical image system for a light measuring device. Either the individual pulses generated by the individual particles in the inhaled and exhaled streams or the scattered radiation emanating from the gases and aerosols in these streams is measured to obtain the ratio of the exhaled to the inhaled numbers of particles and/or the concentration profile in the inhaled and exhaled streams.

    Abstract: An apparatus for painting the outer circumferential surfaces of a plurality of cylindrical containers. The apparatus comprises a rotatable disc having a surface positioned in a vertical plane and a plurality of mandrels secured to the surface of the disc and projecting horizontally therefrom for supporting the containers. A rotatable painting roll is positioned adjacent the disc for applying paint to the containers. First and second rotatable paint storage rolls are provided, the second paint storage roll being above said painting roll and interposed between the painting roll and the first paint storage roll. The axes of the two paint storage rolls are parallel and in a horizontal plane, and the axes of the painting roll and the second storage roll are parallel and define a plane which is angularly displaced with respect to the horizontal and vertical planes.

    Abstract: An AC or DC solenoid for operating a hydraulic or air valve, or another machine comprises a means provided at one end of an armature for reducing the effective cross-sectional area of a magnetic path extending through the armature and a yoke when the armature and a stationary core have a distance therebetween which is smaller than a predetermined fraction of the full stroke of movement of the armature. The solenoid is further provided between the armature and the stationary core with a means permitting them to be brought into axially overlapping relation to form a section of leakage flux therebetween. According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided novel means for securing a solenoid of the armature in tube type to a valve body. The improved solenoid has a small size, a long life, and superior performance without causing any excessive attraction over a given small stroke and generating any large noise.

The input signal to the digital/analog converter is provided by the output of a second counter which serves as a memory having a counting content of picture elements corresponding to the previously detected tape position.
