Abstract: The disclosure relates to transfer of a user equipment from a network to another network. In the method a user equipment communicating with a first network is transferred from the first network to a second network providing resources to a plurality of operators. After initiation of the transfer, an operator is selected for the user equipment amongst the plurality of operators. A controller of the second network is then provided with information regarding the identity of the selected operator, and the user equipment is transferred to the second network. Information regarding the identity of the selected operator is also sent to the user equipment.

Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for performing a location registration in a cellular communication network, wherein a subscriber identity of a user equipment is analyzed when a location registration request has been received, and a priority is allocated to the subscriber based on the result of the analysis. Then, the location registration request is admitted or rejected based on the allocated priority and a detected network load. Thereby, the network operator is able to guarantee network services for home subscribers in cases of increased network load.

Each gas discharge pulse is counted as an individual event having an approximately equal value.
Abstract: A receiver includes a channel estimator for estimating a channel impulse response of a radio channel; an equalizer for generating linear minimum mean-square error equalizer coefficients and providing an equalized signal to a correlator; an estimating unit for forming an initial estimate of received data elements on the basis of an equalized signal; and a processing unit. The processing unit is configured to calculate a scaling factor by taking an inverse value, subtracted from a value of one, of a conjugate transpose of a linear minimum mean-square error equalizer coefficient vector multiplied by a channel impulse response vector, and to use the scaling factor for determining reliability of the initial estimate of the received data elements.

The transmitter also is configured to omit data transmission on the data channel.
Abstract: A geared motor for driving an electric wheelchair, which can realize features such as light weight, compact size, low noise, and low vibration at the same time, as well as high performance at low cost. In a driving device of an electric wheelchair for driving a wheel shaft by the power of a motor, the motor is disposed in such a manner that a motor shaft thereof is orthogonal to the wheel shaft. A hypoid speed reduction mechanism having a hypoid pinion and a hypoid gear intervenes between the motor shaft and the wheel shaft.
Abstract: A system and method for maintaining security in a distributed computing environment comprises a policy manager located on a server for managing and distributing a security policy, and an application guard located on a client for managing access to securable components as specified by the security policy. In the preferred embodiment, a global policy specifies access privileges of the user to securable components. The policy manager may then preferably distribute a local client policy based on the global policy to the client. An application guard located on the client then manages access to the securable components as specified by the local policy.
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to uplink communication in a GSM/EDGE telecommunication system. A method according to certain embodiments of the invention include at least one wide-band carrier wave in the group of carrier waves being generated in a mobile station by applying linear modulation at a first modulation symbol rate, the first modulation symbol rate being a multiple of a second modulation symbol rate, while preserving a predefined carrier spacing and allowing the at least one wide-band carrier wave to overlap with at least one adjacent carrier wave.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling power consumption in a short-range wireless terminal. In order that the power save mode could be adapted to the traffic pattern of the terminal, the data traffic of the terminal is monitored and at least one parameter describing the data traffic is defined. Based on said at least one parameter and the beacon interval information received in beacon frames, the power state of the terminal is dynamically controlled so that the terminal is maintained in one of at least two power states including an active state and a power save state.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing multicast and/or broadcast services to user terminals (8, 9) via a cellular network (2, 5). In order to increase the efficiency of multicast or broadcast transmissions, it is proposed that each of said user terminals (8, 9) willing to receive content data of at least one multicast and/or broadcast service enters at least once for a pre-determined time a state in which it is capable of receiving content data of said multicast and/or broadcast service. The invention equally relates to a corresponding user terminal, to a corresponding cellular network and to a corresponding mobile radio system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for simultaneously polishing the inner and outer surfaces of an unpolished polymeric stent using a heat process. The unpolished stent can be mounted, for example, on a “spiral-mandrel,” a tubular helical structure with gaps in between a series of coils of the structure. Heat from a heat source can then applied to the spiral-mandrel at a range between the glass transition temperature and melting temperature of the polymer of the stent.
