  • Patent number: 7532718
Abstract: A headphone receiver apparatus for use with low power transmitters includes a pair of headphone speaker enclosures connected by a headband. An antenna element in the form of a spring steel band or a plastic cable/antenna band where one of the conductors is utilized as the antenna is configured generally concentric with but offset from the headband and the user's head by at least 0.5 inches over at least some length of the antenna. Low-noise performance is improved by a low noise amplifier incorporated before the receiver IC, and a bandpass filter interposed between the low noise amplifier and the receiver IC. A base-loading inductor is used to tune the antenna element to resonance, with or without capacative end-loading. Lumped inductors, ferrite beads, or a parallel resonant LC circuit may be used to isolate the shield conductor at RF frequencies, and/or to reduce the loading of the other conductors.

  • Patent number: 7521990
Abstract: A noise reduction circuit for AC power, AC power neutral lines, and DC power. In a first embodiment for use with AC power, the invention operates by subtracting the error voltage from an incoming AC signal boosted in voltage by a small boost transformer. In a second embodiment, the present invention reduces noise in AC power neutral lines by effectively operating as a power corrector and reduces unwanted noise on the neutral line at all frequencies without introducing unwanted current in the ground line. In a third embodiment, the invention reduces noise in DC power supplies.

  • Patent number: 7474757
Abstract: A circuit (FIGS. 2A-2D) and method of providing an auto-on and/or auto-off capability for an audio device, of a type having an audio plug (14) which mates with the output jack of an audio source. The portable transmitter (10) modulates audio signals from the audio source onto a carrier and transmits them to a receiver. The auto-on and auto-off capability is provided to prolong battery life and degradation of the transmitter circuit and comprises pinching off a FET (Q2) when the circuit is in an “off” state. This occurs when a pre-determined threshold in a capacitor is reached by not discharging that capacitor. The capacitor (C29) is discharged by dropping a comparator input below a pre-determined threshold limit when presented with an audio peak and wherein the drop in value causes the comparator output to go low, causing the capacitor to discharge and causing the FET (Q2) to supply power to the regulator.

  • Patent number: 7470168
Abstract: A reinforced support bra having a pair of generally conically-shaped cups arranged for supporting a pair of breasts, each of the cups including an outer edge and a nipple tip portion. A back strap is attached to the cups and positioned for wearing around the torso, in the conventional fashion. Shoulder straps connected the top of the cups and the back strap and are adapted for placement over a wearer's shoulders. A non-stretchable reinforcing ring is attached to each of the cups and is placed generally concentric with the nipple tip portion between 40 percent and 95 percent of the distance from the outer edge of the cup and the nipple tip portion of said cup. Shoulder strap extensions may be provided and connected from the top of the cup to the ring to a shoulder strap, and slidingly disposed through a slide buckle so that lift can be tailored to the wearer's needs and preferences.

  • Patent number: 7440580
Abstract: An acoustical bass absorber which reduces peak and dip frequency response errors caused by interference from naturally occurring axial standing waves in rectangular rooms. The apparatus uses two forms of simple harmonic resonance: pistonic diaphragm resonance and Helmholtz cavity resonance. The pistonic diaphragm resonance is achieved by attaching a rigid planar membrane to metal springs. The Helmholtz cavity resonance is achieved by constructing an enclosed chamber attached to an open cylindrical tube. Coupling these two dissipation devices leads to several-fold improvement in absorption and total room mode attenuation.

  • Patent number: 7431222
Abstract: A masking device to prevent over-spray when using an aerosol can to apply aerosols to a work surface. The device includes a horizontal channel structure, the back end of which is essentially open and serves as an insertion point for an aerosol nozzle feed tube from an aerosol can, while the front end serves as an attachment seat for a masking unit. The back end of the horizontal channel is open, providing the user access to the aerosol nozzle in order to actuate the aerosol nozzle with a finger, whereby an aerosol is propelled forward into a masking unit. The masking unit has a small orifice creating a planar opening at the back, and a large orifice creating a generally planar opening at the front The masking unit is essentially hollow, providing the ability to contain an aerosol, the large orifice serving as a mask against a target surface.

  • Patent number: 7429933
Abstract: A bracket and method for use in mounting a transducer/antenna unit in an underground meter box of the type which contains a remote-reading water meter. The box has a peripheral ledge defining an access opening that seats a lid. The bracket comprises a pair of beams which are spaced-apart sufficient to enable the installation and support of a cap containing the antenna. A pair of right angles on the beam ends are seated between the ledge and lid to suspend the beam and therefore the antenna at a predetermined height below the lid. The height is sufficient for holding the antenna at a position which is optimum for radiating RF signals for pick up by an above-ground remote receiver.
