Abstract: A class of polymer precursor materials, which, under appropriate conditions, react to form cross-linked polymers, is disclosed. These materials contain a backbone segment, preferably a polyacrylate, and have pendant therefrom (1) reactive mono- or disubstituted olefinic groups, such as vinyl or allyl itaconate, and (2) water-solubilizing groups, such as the half ester of maleic acid. This class of materials, especially when combined with specifically-defined oxygen-activated catalyst systems, provides water-based paint compositions which exhibit film formation, strength and durability characteristics comparable to those of the best solvent-based paint formulations.

These urea derivatives have analgesic and anti-irritant activity when administered to humans and lower animals.
Abstract: Cookie products, having distributed therein (1) discrete regions providing a stable, crisp texture; and (2) discrete regions providing a stable, chewy texture, have a desirable, storage-stable plurality of textures. This can be accomplished, for example, by manipulation of sugar crystallization in different parts of the product.

These carbamates have analgesic and anti-irritant activity when administered to humans and lower animals.
Abstract: 4-Vinyl-2-methylenebutanedioic acid and its esters, as well as amide and nitrile analogs of these compounds, are diclosed. These compounds are capable of undergoing a rapid free radical cyclopolymerization reaction. The compounds, themselves, may be used as film-formers (for example, in paints or plastics) or may be used as groups pendant from a backbone, especially a low molecular weight backbone, to form other, more complex film-forming polymer precursor materials.
Abstract: A class of polymer precursor materials, which, under appropriate conditions, react to form cross-linked polymers, is disclosed. These materials contain a backbone segment, such as polyacrylate, having pendant therefrom mono- or disubstituted olefinic groups, such as vinyl itaconate, having specific polymerization rates. This class of materials, especially when coupled with specifically-defined oxygen-activated catalyst systems, provide paint and plastic compositions which exhibit excellent film formation, strength and durability characteristics.
Abstract: A compound, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a linear or branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.11 alkyl, alkynyl or aralkyl group, a linear or branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.22 alkenyl group, or an unbranched or branched C.sub.6 -C.sub.11 cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl group; and wherein one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is OH, the other being OH or H. These hydroxyphenylacetamides have analgesic and/or anti-irritant activity when administered either topically or systemically.
Abstract: Stable colloidal dispersions of 1-triacontanol in water are disclosed. The dispersions are capable of more consistently stimulating plant growth by allowing for the uniform application of a large number of very small crystalline triacontanol particles. The dispersions preferably also contain an anionic, cationic, zwitterionic or polyfunctional single bond nonionic surfactant dispersing agent.
Abstract: Disinfecting solutions for use with hydrophilic soft contact lenses, containing effective amounts of C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 fatty acids, especially octanoic acid, are disclosed. These solutions provide broad spectrum antimicrobial efficacy together with rapid and complete desorption of the fatty acid antimicrobial from the contact lens material, resulting in a minimization of irritation and sensitization risks to the user. The method of disinfecting hydrophilic soft contact lenses using C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 fatty acids is also disclosed.

Abstract: Topical antimicrobial compositions in the form of an aqueous gel or lotion are disclosed; these compositions contain C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 fatty acids and have a pH no greater than about 5. The compositions provide excellent broad-spectrum antimicrobial performance and, in fact, are more effective than similar compositions formulated as creams, ointments, non-aqueous lotions or non-aqueous gels. The method of treating skin disorders of pathogenic origin using these compositions is also disclosed.
Abstract: Boron containing polyphosphonates of the formula ##STR1## wherein Z is a boron-containing radical; R.sub.2 is an alkyl group containing from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; R.sub.3 is a geminal diphosphonate or a vicinal polyphosphonate containing up to 10 phosphonic acid radicals; R.sub.4 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, amino, benzyl, halogen, hydroxyl, --CH.sub.2 COOH, --CH.sub.2 PO.sub.3 H.sub.2, or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 PO.sub.3 H.sub.2 ; and the salts and esters thereof, have high affinity for calcified tissues, in particular calcific tumors. The compounds are useful in boron neutron capture therapy of such tumors.
