Abstract: A method and an apparatus for storing data provide data memory in a systematic, cyclical arrangement, provide plural data portals in an arrangement defined by modular arithmetic, and provide sequential, relative movement between the data memory and the data portals. When one or more of the plural portals is selected, data can be input or output in a manner which is predictable, straight-forward, free of scheduling constraints, and very efficient, without contention between the separate portals. Also disclosed are a method and apparatus which provide data memory in a systematic, cyclical arrangement, provide a systematic arrangement of plural data outputs, and provide sequential, relative movement between the data memory and the data outputs. The memory devices of the present invention can be designed so that the memory device circulates data either through or past fixed portals. Alternatively, the data can be stored in fixed locations and the portals moved from location to location.

An optical method of concatenating binary information contained in successive time windows of an input signal includes forming g converted input signals obtained by amplitude modulating g optical carrier waves having different wavelengths, each converted input signal presenting, within the time windows, amplitude modulation as a function of the input signal. The method also includes forming a multiplex signal made up of a combination of g delayed signals obtained by applying delays to the converted input signals, the delays being such that any two consecutive delayed signals are offset in time by the duration w of the time windows.

Abstract: Novel herbicidal and defoliant substituted aniline derived compounds represented by general structure (I) are described. W, X, Y, Z, and Q are as defined in the disclosure. Also described are the processes for the manufacture of these compounds and agriculturally suitable compositions containing these as active ingredients which are useful as herbicides for general or selective pre-emergent or post-emergent control of undesired plant species and defoliants at very low concentrations of these biologically active compounds.

Abstract: A SEM review station provides a plurality of images of a defect area of a wafer structure, particularly a semiconductor integrated circuit, during manufacture. Inspection of the multiple images provides a depth determination and/or contour information. Knowing the depth of a defect is useful for determining a corresponding manufacturing step and chamber in which a defect was introduced. One SEM review station provides a stereoscopic SEM image signal by combining signals from two images taken from different perspectives, and determines the depth of a defect. Another SEM review station provides contour information through three images taken with varying directions of electron detection so is that shading differences can be used to characterize the defect as flat, as a protrusion, or as a recess.

Abstract: A system and method for presence-based video and multimedia calling by which a workstation is dynamically associated with a user based on user log-in information so that video and multimedia calls are routed to at least one workstation at which that user is logged in. This allows a caller to place a video or multimedia call to a recipient without knowing the network address of the workstation at which the user is logged-in or the physical location of the recipient. The invention provides for detecting whether a participant is logged into the network and notifying the caller accordingly. The invention further provides for the routing of AV and data signals among workstations dispersed over multiple LANs, on different networks, or at different locations. Mulitple types of services and signal format standards may be supported within the same call. Network and workstation capabilities may be included as calls follow a user to any workstation in the system.

Each of the cutter stacks comprise a central shaft journaled for rotation and a bearing module at each end of the central shafts. Each bearing module comprises an end housing, and a pair of insertable preassembled bearing assemblies mountable in each of said end housings. One bearing assembly has a thru-hole for journaling a first shaft for rotation and a second bearing assembly has a thru-hole for journaling a second shaft for rotation. The housing has an inspection port at the top to allow for tightening of the cutter stack.
