Abstract: A printer wherein a drive roller of a pair of sheet discharge rollers is made of rubber and a driven roller of the pair of sheet discharge rollers is made of synthetic resin; the leading end of a sheet is guided so as to be abutted against the drive roller earlier than the driven roller; the sheet that is in the course of being discharged is guided by a sheet discharge tray so as to come in slidable contact with an edge portion that is on a print head side of a sheet discharge opening. As a result, the printer can provide satisfactory printing conditions quickly with a simple structure and reduce noise leaking from the sheet discharge opening.
Abstract: A composition comprising metal oxide particles having photo-catalytic activity, a solvent-soluble zirconium compound and a solvent. Preferably, the metal oxide particles having photocatalytic activity are titanium oxide particles; the metal oxide particles have an average particle diameter of about 0.005 to 0.3 &mgr;m; and the amount of the zirconium compound is in the range of about 3-200 parts by weight, as ZrO2, per 100 parts by weight of the metal oxide articles. A composite of a film having a photo-catalytic activity with a base material is made by coating the base material with the above composition to form a film, and curing the film on the base material.
Abstract: The improved thermal head adjusting method used when an image is recorded onto a thermal recording material by applying a voltage to a thermal head in accordance with image data, comprises the steps of measuring an initial state of at least one of characteristic values of the thermal head and adjusting the voltage to be applied in accordance with the image data with respect to a reference voltage. According to this method, variation in densities caused by difference of and variation in individual thermal heads can be greatly reduced and a high quality homogeneous thermal image can be stably recorded without being affected by difference of thermal heads.
Abstract: A method of detecting the loss-of-signal condition at the input of a transmission line interface when the input signal is coded. The input signal decoding includes an additional procedure allowing the detection of loss-of-signal condition. Since the pseudo-random sequence of the input signal transitions includes sequences of code violations, the additional procedure, over a certain threshold error rate, corresponding to a number of code violations in a unit of time, detects the loss-of-signal condition.
Abstract: A pre/post-distortion circuit particularly for microwave radio-frequency systems is disclosed. The pre/post-distortion circuit according to the present invention, comprising an input signal (I) controlled attenuator (AT), is characterized by further comprising divider means (DI) for properly subdividing said input signal (I) and transmitting it to respective channels (A, B, C), a first (C) of said channels comprising means (PS, DC) for repeating or cloning, from a distortion point of view, the signal whose circuit one wishes to pre/post distort, the others (A, B) of said channels comprising substantially linear networks (LN), and adding means (AD) to sum the signals coming out of said channels (A, B, C). A method is also disclosed for pre/post-distorting a signal, particularly in radio-frequency systems.

Abstract: Reclaimed rubber having excellent performance is applied for reuse in tires or for asphalt, etc. The reclaimed rubber obtained by devulcanization treatment of vulcanized rubber from discard tires, etc. has a proportion of sol to gel: 10-80%, a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of the sol by gel permeation chromatography (GPC): 20,000-300,000, and a degree of swelling of the gel: 3.0-20.0. Abstract: To make a variable phase shifter at low cost and that is easy to manufacture, two propagation paths for a high frequency signal are provided in parallel between the input and the output of the phase shifter. These two paths are of different lengths. An intermediate node on one of the paths is connected to an intermediate node on the other path by a PIN diode. The diode is connected to the paths by a segment of line further enhancing the length difference. By biasing the diode to a desired level, it is caused to present a particular impedance to propagation. It is shown that by acting in this way the diode can vary the phase shift between the input and the output without needing to use harmful reactive components.
