Abstract: This disclosure provides examples of innovations for a heating pad to be used with heating removable basins or drapes containing sterile fluid. When used with a sterile basin, it is desirable for the pad to deform to conform to the irregular surface on the bottom of the basin. It is also desirable for the pad to have a low thermal mass so that the pad is more responsive to the control system.

Abstract: Generic SATPS receivers and methods for configuring generic SATPS receivers that include a plurality of outputs are provided. These configurable SATPS receivers are adapted to be utilized in at least one of a plurality of particular SATPS receiver applications, and can also include a plurality of input paths, and a means for generating selected ones of the plurality of possible outputs. Selected ones of the plurality of outputs are enabled/disabled based on at least one requirement of the particular receiver application to configure or program the generic SATPS receiver to function as a SATPS receiver used for a particular SATPS receiver application or operating environment. Abstract: A system for establishing and maintaining communications across disparate networks comprises a satellite dish and control unit comprising a network management server and a satellite data conversion component. The control unit may further comprise an application server and a satellite dish alignment component. The system may further comprise at least one access point and a plurality of wireless routers. In certain embodiments, the system is relatively easy to deploy and can even be used when traditional network infrastructure is unavailable.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a spread spectrum matched filter with Doppler correction suitable for using in a radio frequency receiver. The system includes a signal sampler operable to receive signal data and a Doppler shift system operable to provide a Doppler shift correction value. The system also includes a time domain signal processor in signal communication with the signal sampler, the Doppler shift system and the code signal input, the time domain signal processor operable to shift the signal data by the Doppler shift correction value and to determine a correlation between the shifted signal data and the code signal input. The system reduces a waveform representing Doppler correction values into a Boolean combination that may selectively represent the waveform and be implemented by the processing of a matched filter.
Abstract: Methods and systems consistent with the present invention provide a host based positioning system. The host based positioning system includes a tracker hardware interface that connects to a dedicated hardware space vehicle tracker to a host computer. The tracker hardware interface receives positioning information from the space vehicle tracker and communicates with the host computer using predefined messages. The host based positioning system includes a layered protocol approach to enable user applications on a host computer to access data from tracker hardware device.

Abstract: A signal processing system control method and apparatus are described. Various embodiments include a signal processing system with multiple subsystems. A method for controlling the signal processing system includes storing channel records in a designated area of shared memory. Channel records include channel data that include one of multiple discrete signals to be processed by multiple subsystems in a time-multiplexed manner. The channel record includes information used by the multiple subsystems to process a channel, including information used to configure the multiple subsystems, information used to allocate the shared memory, and information used to communicate between multiple subsystems.

Abstract: A mounting device is provided for extending at least part of a line article along at least part of a structure. The mounting device includes a mounting platform having a base and two resilient legs extending from the base, where each of the two resilient legs has a free end such that a first distance between the two resilient legs is shorter than a second distance between the two resilient legs parallel to the first distance, and where the two resilient legs together form mutually opposing points of contact capable of securing the mounting device onto a structure. The mounting device further includes at least two retaining mechanisms extending from the mounting platform, where the first and second retaining mechanisms are mutually positioned to be together capable of extending at least part of a line article in any direction along at least part of such a structure, regardless of the direction in which the mounting device is secured by the two resilient legs on the structure.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for use by a receiver in decoding information sent by phase-shift keying over a carrier frequency is disclosed. The method is well suited for use with power line carrier (PLC) applications as it is adapted to appropriately position the sampling window based on a zero crossing of one of the phases of the power line. The method allows for receipt and processing of information on more than one carrier frequency and from transmitters operating on a phase of the power line that is different than the phase used by the receiver to detect the zero crossings of the alternating current at the power grid frequency on the power line. A number of alternative embodiments are included.

Abstract: A system is provided for suspending a plurality of line array loudspeakers. The suspension system includes a rigging bar having an engaging member, such as a pivotal member, positioned near one end of the rigging bar. The engaging member includes a free end capable of extending outward past the end of the rigging bar in which the engaging member is positioned. The end of the rigging bar opposite the pivotal member is designed to releasably receive an engaging member of an adjacent rigging bar. The free end of the engaging member of the rigging bar may include a hole that aligns with holes positioned in the receiving end of the rigging bar. The engaging member of one rigging bar may then be secured to an adjacent rigging bar by aligning holes of the engaging member of a first rigging bar with the holes in the receiving end of a second rigging bar and inserting a release pin through the aligned holes.

Abstract: A system, method, and device for recording and tracking resistance training parameters in connection with a resistance training workout. A specially configured portable recording device has a very compact user interface having an input device with very few inputs. A user may record resistance training parameters directly on the recording device both quickly and easily with few and simple keystrokes, resulting in an improved recording process. A personal trainer or strength coach may track the workouts of multiple exercisers with increased convenience. Abstract: In a method for producing a radionuclide, a target chamber is filled with target fluid and pressurized. A particle beam is applied to the target chamber to irradiate target material of the target fluid, and the target fluid becomes heated. The heated target liquid may expand out from the target chamber through a lower opening. A space including target fluid vapor may be created in an upper region of the target chamber. The upper region is sealed to maintain the vapor space.
Abstract: Alkali fuel cells, systems, and related methods, and flow-through, high-surface area electrodes, are employed to generate electricity. The electrode can include a porous substrate comprising a first side for fluid ingress, a second side for fluid egress, and a plurality of walls oriented in different directions between the first and second sides, with voids defined between the walls, which can include surfaces and micro-scale pores. A thin film comprising a catalytic material can be disposed on the surfaces. A fuel/electrolyte mixture can be flowable generally from the first side, through the voids and the pores of the substrate and in contact with the thin film, and to the second side. Additives can be included for refreshing the electrolyte and/or the electrode. A water/thermal/pressure management system includes a permeable membrane from which water can be removed from a fluid while retaining fuel and/or electrolyte in the fluid. The electrolyte can include an additive that cleans the electrodes.
Abstract: A vehicle control system of a vehicle configured to communicate with an external device, such as a portable digital assistant or mobile phone for the purpose of sending and receiving external data regarding a user's personal settings for vehicle components. As an example, the user data may correspond to the position of the driver's seat. The user data may be retrieved from the external device and transferred to the vehicle control system of a second vehicle to configure the second vehicle to the user's personal settings. The user data may be, as and example, transferred using the vCard data format for personal data interchange.
Abstract: This invention provides a method for designing a waveguide profile based upon predicted performance measurements of the waveguide. The method involves establishing a design metric, such as the change in acoustic reactance along the transition of the waveguide. Initial values may then assigned for the radius or diameter of the throat of the waveguide as well as values for the initial slope of the waveguide along the major and minor (or x and y) axis and the depth of the waveguide. The waveguide may then be divided into two or more sections. The values of the slopes for each section are then altered based upon the design metric. When using the change of acoustic reactance as the design metric, the slope of each section of the waveguide is adjusted to minimize the change in acoustic reactance between the sections, which is the desired performance standard.
