Abstract: A system and method for providing temperature compensation in a oscillator component (such as a crystal oscillator component) that includes a closely-located temperature sensing device. The crystal oscillator component in example systems and methods is exposed to a temperature profile during a calibration procedure. Temperature and frequency data are collected and applied to coefficient generating function according to a temperature compensation model to generate a set of coefficients that are used in the temperature compensation model in an application device. The generated coefficients are stored in a coefficient memory accessible to an application device during operation.

Abstract: An electric motor system having a rotor with a plurality of permanent magnets, and a stator having a winding through which current is flowing for driving the rotor. A control unit controls the current flowing through the winding. The control unit employs a first filter and a second filter, each filter is connected to the winding and has outputs coupled to a comparator. The comparator compares the signal output of the first filter to the signal output of the second filter. The control unit controls the current flowing through the winding depending on the result of the comparison of the two filtered signals.

Abstract: A speaker system is provided, including a suspension element having an outer edge and an inner edge. The suspension element, such as a spider or surround, varies in shape along at least a portion of the suspension element to help relieve both the radial and tangential stress placed on the suspension element when it is stretched. The shape employed in the suspension element allows the suspension element to stretch more easily, creating a higher performance speaker of the same size by increasing the diaphragm excursion and voice coil movement.

Abstract: A highly integrated GPS RF Front End which uses a single conversion stage employs an image rejection mixer stage to eliminate the need for an image reject RF bandpass filter. Also a relatively high sample rate A/D is employed which allows a timeless monolitic IF Filter to be used. Abstract: Extensions to the concept of using a power line carrier to convey a data record from the secondary side of a first transformer to a receiver in a power distribution substation include receiving the data record over a secondary data path in the event that the primary path is not available. The data record received over the secondary path through a second transformer rather than the first transformer must not interfere with other data transmissions from other transmitters and needs to identify the source of the transmission. An alternative to using a secondary data path through second transformer rather than the first transformer is to provide a data bridge around an opening in the primary path. Abstract: The present invention discloses methods, apparatuses, and systems for eliminating auto- and cross-correlation in weak signal CDMA systems, such as GPS systems. The invention uses parallel data paths that allow standard correlation of signals in parallel with verification of the lock signal to determine whether the system has locked onto the proper signal within the scanned signal window. Abstract: A computer system with an appropriate set of instructions to allow the computer system to serve as a translation device for use in a structured interview between an interviewer using a first language and an interviewee in a second language in order to minimize or eliminate that need for a human translator during the acquisition of routine information. Abstract: Normal 802.3 Ethernet requires a tree topology. If a ring or a loop exists, then packets will be forwarded around the ring indefinitely. If the ring is broken, then there is no possibility of packets being propagated forever. This invention shows how to quickly impose a virtual break in the ring such that all nodes can communicate with each other, and how to remove the virtual break when a real failure occurs. This is accomplished by placing intelligent nodes on the ring that work together to virtually break and restore the ring. An embodiment is disclosed that handles a unidirectional break in a communication link where the unidirectional break is not sensed as an OPER DOWN state.
