Abstract: Disclosed is a structure of a downlink common channel for transmitting an ACK/NACK to notify whether retransmission should be performed through a transmission position of the downlink common channel according to a channel code of a time slot allocated to a UE, and a method for distinguishing an ACK from a NACK, in using a HARQ scheme for uplink transmission of a TDD CDMA scheme in a 3G mobile communication.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for inputting Hindi characters in a terminal. A touch screen displays a first key set and a second key set. The first key set includes first letter keys with all consonants and a combination lock key for entering a compound consonant. The second key set includes a first letter selected from the first key set and second letter keys with predetermined vowels combinable with the first letter. Upon selection of the first letter from the first key set, a controller controls the touch screen to display the second key set and receives at least one letter from the first and second key sets.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for selecting a location platform for a user equipment to roam and a method for determining the location of the user equipment using the same. The method for selecting a location platform includes: checking a visiting network of the UE in response to a location request message transmitted from the UE which is roaming; and selecting a location platform to calculate a location of the UE by comparing positioning capability information of the checked visiting network and positioning capability information of a home network of the UE. According to such a method, it is possible to efficiently perform the positioning of the UE, regardless of the location of the UE, thereby improving the quality of the positioning service.

Abstract: A method for transmitting a packet over a radio channel in a mobile communication system. The method includes receiving first packets from an upper layer; checking a number of and a size of the first packets to be bundled in a second packet; generating the second packet using the first packets and a header including an indicator that indicates if the number of and a size of the first packets to be bundled in the second packet satisfy a predetermined condition; and transmitting the generated second packet via a lower layer.

Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for searching a phone number and originating a call by using an image in a mobile communication terminal having a touch screen. The apparatus includes the touch screen for displaying at least one image in an image area, a memory unit for storing at least one image and a phone number corresponding thereto, and a control unit for performing call origination by using the phone number corresponding to each image if a touch input is made onto the relevant image displayed in the image area.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for ensuring the integrity of a container to be transmitted to a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) terminal. A DVB-H server divides a container in which data required to deliver broadcasting information is included into one or more sections, extracts a Cycle Redundancy Check (CRC) value related to data of each section, and then creates profile information of the container. The created profile information of the container is used to check the integrity of the container, and is transmitted following the addition of the created profile information to a header part of the container. Hence, the terminal compares data of an actually received container with data of a container which has to be received on the basis of the profile information related to the container, and determines if the data included in the container is lost.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a packet in a mobile communication system. A transmitting side allocates a short sequence number for an initial transmission packet using some bits among bits of a predetermined length for expressing a sequence number of the packet, and sets a first flag indicating use of the short sequence number. The transmitting side inserts the short sequence number and the first flag into the packet, and transmits the packet to a receiving side.

Abstract: A method is provided for setting up a network for Internet Protocol (IP) communication between mobile terminals. A first mobile terminal determines a second mobile terminal that will communicate with the first mobile terminal. The first mobile terminal generates network setup information of the first mobile terminal for the IP communication and performs network setup using the network setup information. The first mobile terminal generates a network setup message including network setup information of the second mobile terminal, and sends the network setup message to the second mobile terminal.

Abstract: A method is provided for allocating resources of a control channel in a mobile communication system using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). The method includes, when a time index and a frequency index of available Resource Elements (REs) are defined as l and k, respectively, dividing the available REs in a two-dimensional structure of (k, l); and time-first-allocating each RE to a plurality of RE groups while increasing the time index l for each frequency index k from an initial value up to a predetermined range.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for transmitting broadcast data in a digital broadcasting service system. The apparatus includes a server terminal for receiving a digital broadcast transport stream from a digital broadcast service provider, removing a header used for the digital broadcast reception from the received broadcast stream, and transmitting a stream of broadcast data from which the header has been removed; and at least one client terminal for accessing the server terminal through an Internet Protocol (IP) network, and receiving and outputting the stream of broadcast data from which the header has been removed. The apparatus enables the user to view DVB-H broadcasts through an existing terminal, even without buying a terminal having the ability to receive a DVB-H transport stream.

Abstract: Provided is a method for transitioning between a distributed transmission mode and a localized transmission mode, including transmitting, by a Base Station (BS), a measurement control message to a User Element (UE), wherein the UE makes corresponding measurement and transmits a required measurement report message to the BS and the BS transmits a transition indicator message of new mode to the UE based on measurement report message sent from the UE; and commencing CQI reporting and a downlink transmission of a new mode between the UE and the BS. The BS can choose a more appropriate transmission mode for the downlink transmission based on changing characteristics of the channel in the time domain and the frequency domain.

Abstract: A data processing apparatus and a method for displaying time-based data are provided. The data processing apparatus includes a storage unit for storing data processed by the data processing apparatus and identification information for sorting the data, a display unit having a first display section for displaying one or more data sort functions and a second display section for displaying data according to a data sort function selected from the first display section, and a control unit for sorting the data stored in the storage unit and controlling the display unit to display the data in a life data mode.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and a method for controlling a Bluetooth in a portable terminal. The method includes receiving a Bluetooth connection request signal; determining whether a current state is a communicable state in which a Bluetooth control message can be received; if it is determined that the current state is the communicable state, determining whether a correct Bluetooth control message has been received and stored; and if it is determined that the correct Bluetooth control message has not been received and stored, establishing a connection of a Bluetooth communication.

Abstract: A system and method of a multimedia Push-To-Talk (PTT) over Cellular (PoC) box service is provided which can reflect dynamic requests of a user using a function for interworking with a PoC server and an Extensible Markup Language (XML) Document Management Server (XDMS) in a PoC system. In a method for providing the PoC box service, the PoC XDMS stores various information about a type of media to be stored by a PoC user, a PoC box type, and a connection address after a service request expires. An associated service is implemented by Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) technology between the PoC server and a PoC client and by interworking with the PoC server and the XDMS.

Abstract: Disclosed is a software robot apparatus and a method including detecting environmental information, detecting multiple external events objects, generating a sensor value having an effect on the software robot, changing physical states related to external events and internal events, generating a physical state value, changing a perception state, generating a perception state value corresponding to the changed perception state, changing an emotion state, generating an emotion state value; detecting an episode related to a behavior type, storing a variance related to each state, calculating a representative variance, and when a current perception state or a current emotion state is identified as unstable, detecting an episode capable of changing the unstable state into a normal state, determining a behavior and an object stored in the detected episode as a final behavior object, and expressing an actual behavior of the software robot to the object corresponding to the final behavior object.

Abstract: A CQI reporting method for a Dual-Cell HSDPA service of a mobile communication system is provided for reducing CQI reporting overhead. A user terminal transmits channel quality indicators for downlink channels in a mobile communication system, measures channel qualities of a first downlink channel and a second downlink channel, compares the channel qualities of the first and second downlink channels with each other, selects at least one channel quality of the first and second downlink channels, and transmits at least one channel quality indicator indicating the at least one channel quality.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving packet data between a UE and an Enhanced Node B (ENB) using a Hybrid Auto Repeat Request (HARQ) scheme in a mobile communication system. The method includes the steps of receiving configuration information from an ENB, the configuration information including a first Maximum Retransmission Limit (MRL) value to be applied to data that is transmitted over a persistent resource, and when data to be transmitted by the UE is quasi-real time data, transmitting a first data packet to the ENB by using the persistent resource and applying the first MRL value the first data packet, which is configured from the quasi-real time data.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating a binaural beat for brainwave induction is provided. Upon receipt of a stereo audio signal, a decorrelator extracts a common component existing in common in both channels of the stereo audio signal, and outputs the remaining stereo components except for the extracted common component. A frequency shifter generates a common component in which the binaural beat is included, by shifting a frequency of the extracted common component. First and second mixers mix the common component in which the binaural beat is included, with the remaining stereo components.

Abstract: A method and system for selecting an RS in an MS in a communication system are provided, in which the MS measures channel qualities between the MS and at least two RSs, and selects an RS for relaying signals between the MS and a BS from among the at least two RSs according to the channel quality measurements.
