Abstract: A watering device connectable through a threaded fitting to a source of water. The device includes an elongated conduit having a first portion with an aperture and a second portion with a second aperture. A flange connects to the first portion of the conduit and fits against a lip or ridge of a rotatable member which is passed over the conduit from the second portion to the first portion. The rotatable member includes a threaded surface, which engages the threaded fitting leading to the source of water.

Abstract: A device for monitoring a container such as a manway in conjunction with an analytical probe utilizing a shield. The shield covers the manway opening. The shield also includes a plurality of passages to permit communication of gases between the outside and inside of the container. The shield includes a first exterior side and a second erior side relative to the container. The fastener holds the shield to the periphery of the entrance structure of the container. A support also positions a probe to permit the same to pass from the first exterior side to the second interior side of the shield.

Abstract: A collection device for capturing and transmitting electromagnetic radiation utilizing a reflector having a concave reflecting surface for concentrating electromagnetic radiation to a focal point. The reflector also includes an opposite surface, a flexible optical guide includes a first end portion which is located at the focal place of the reflector. Flexible optical guide also includes an intermediate portion which extends to the reflector and a second end portion which is located at the opposite surface of the reflector. The flexible optical guide extends through the reflector such that distribution of the concentrated electromagnetic radiation will pass from the second end portion of the fiber optic cable.

Abstract: A temperature indicating device utilizing a housing having an exterior and an interior which includes first and second chambers. First and second chambers communicate with one another. An opening through the housing allows communication between the interior and exterior of the housing. A bimetallic element which is capable of assuming first and second configurations is positioned within the second chamber. A movable member is found in the first chamber and contacts the bimetallic elements when the bimetallic elements assumes the first configuration. A spring bias the contact between the movable member and the bimetallic element and urges movement therebetween when the bimetallic element assumes the second configuration. A signal indicates such movement by utilization of the opening between the exterior and interior of the housing.

Abstract: A vehicle movable on at least first and second wheels utilizing a first platform having wheels attached to the same. A second platform is rotatably attached to the first platform and spaced outwardly from the first and second wheels attached to the first platform. Bosses, fixed to the second platform, extend to the vicinity of the first platform wheels. Linkages, such as rods, are rotatably attached to the bosses and to the wheels for provision of steering and braking controls. In certain embodiments, a third platform is employed to activate a braking wheel.

Abstract: A system for arming and disarming a central intrusion alarm system control utilizing the activation status of a particular appliance. The system employs a detector for determining the position of an on-off switch associated with a particular appliance. The regulator prevents the operation of the arming control in a central intrusion alarm system when the detector determines that the appliance is “on”. The system of the present invention may be employed with multiple appliance switches. In addition, transmission of the disarming signal to the central intrusion alarm arming control may be accomplished through hard wires or by radio transmission.

Abstract: A system for obtaining reliable data from a chemical sample for at least one variable environmental condition utilizing a photometer. The photometer obtains sample characteristic data at a plurality of discrete wavelengths. The reliability of the data is determined by obtaining a training set of data, and obtaining a number representing the variation between the mean center of the training set of data and the data representing the sample characteristic obtained by the photometer. Such number represents the basis of determining outliers of the data representative of the reliability of the data.

Abstract: A clip mechanism for a line utilizing a first member having a first portion and a connected second portion. A second member with first and second portions connected to one another is also employed. The second member also possesses an end portion terminating in a plurality of protrusions. Each of the protrusions possesses a tip. The tips extend from the second member at different lengths such that at least, one tip lies closer to the first portion of the second member than another tip. In certain cases, the ends of the tips lie in an arcuate configuration that is particularly useful for gripping rounded lines.

Abstract: A device for applying stimuli to a subject for therapeutic purposes utilizing an audio source producing a selected audio tone. An audio speaker delivers the audio stimulus to the left and right ears of the subject in an alternating manner, such that the sounds may be heard in either of the ears or may be heard in both of the ears in sequential fashion. Visual or tactile stimuli may be delivered to a subject singularly or simultaneously with the audio stimulus.

Abstract: A vehicle hitch supported cargo carrier mechanism connectable to the hitch of the vehicle located above a ground surface utilizing an adapter. The adapter connects to the hitch of the vehicle. A base member is connected to the adapter and utilizes an upright element, which extends outwardly from the adapter. A platform capable of carrying cargo links to connector. The connector is rotatably fastened to the upright element permitting the platform to also rotate from a horizontal position to a vertical position. A lock fixes the rotational movement of the platform as desired between the horizontal and vertical position.

Abstract: A holding device for an external switch operated module utilizing a base member. The base member has a bottom, an end portion extending outwardly from the bottom, and a flange connected to the base member. A spring which is fastened to the base member includes an element extending outwardly from the base. The base member, bottom and end portion combine with the spring to form an open chamber. A lever is operable to exert a force on the spring member to reduce the size of the open chamber and hold the module tightly. A retainer maintains the lever-actuated force while the module is in use.

Abstract: An excess flow control valve which automatically shuts off when an excessive flow of liquid or gaseous material is detected. The valve uses a flow sensitive piston which is drawn up to cover the valve outlet when the flow exceeds a specified rate. When the piston is seated against the valve outlet, flow ceases, or is reduced dramatically, and the piston is held in place by the pressure of the supply. Additionally, ports are provided to activate a pressure differential device which can be used for remote monitoring and/or valve position, i.e., a red flag or switch, if desired.

Abstract: A filtration system utilizes a heater 40 and a heat exchange subsystem for elevating the temperature of a feed stream to a membrane filtration unit 12. Upstream from the unit 12, a solids-liquid stream is divided into two streams 32, 33 that pass through respective heat exchangers 22, 28 wherein heat from the concentrate stream 44 and the permeate stream 34 is transferred to the solids-liquid stream before entering the membrane filtration unit 12. Flow regulators are provided to equalize the flow rates of the streams passing through the heat exchangers. The invention lowers the viscosity of the feed stream resulting in the benefits of increased filtration capacity and extended membrane life.

Abstract: A door lamination structure including a core member with first and second surfaces separated by an endless edge third surface. A groove extends around the endless third surface and forms a chamber in the core. First and second sheets of protective material are placed over the first and second surfaces respectfully. A fastener holds the first and second sheets to the chamber of the groove.

Abstract: A salad dressing emulsion of high stability utilizing a continuous oil phase and a dispersed acidic aqueous phase. A sufficient mount of divided solid curd is suspended in the emulsion to maintain the dispersion of the acidic aqueous phases for a relatively long period of time.

Abstract: A lighting fixture utilizing a housing surrounding a fluorescent light source. The housing has an aperture defining an edge portion for determining the cutoff angle of light emanating from the source. A first upper reflector is formed on the inner surface of the housing directing light from the source at angles ranging between the cutoff angle and angles less than the cutoff angle. The second reflector, located adjacent first reflector in the housing between the housing aperture and the first reflector, directs light from the source ranging between a selected angle, which is less than the cutoff angle, and at angles less than the selected angle. The result is a lighting fixture which possesses an optical delay in the activation in the second reflector as one approaches the optical axis from a peripheral position.

Abstract: A wheelchair motorizing apparatus which is mounted to a wheelchair frame utilizing a guide. The guide is oriented in a generally upright configuration. A support is movable along the guide for positioning upwardly and downwardly relative to the existing wheels of a wheelchair. A driven wheel is connected to the support and engages the ground surface when the support is moved into the downward position.

Abstract: A device for purging contaminated oil from a lubrication conduit is provided. The device may be used wherever a contaminated fluid or gas is purged from a conduit circuit. The preferred embodiment includes a housing which may be finned to allow the radiating of heat from engine oil to the environment. The housing includes an inlet and a primary and secondary outlet adapted for serial installation in a conduit. The housing is further provided with primary bore and a secondary bore therethrough so as to allow communication between the inlet and the primary and secondary outlets. The primary bore includes a check valve seat with in the housing. The secondary outlet is fitted with a diverter valve seat and a diverter valve to allow a user to selectively open and close the diverter valve. The check valve allows normal oil flow during engine operation when the diverter valve is shut off but closes when a negative pressure exists at the primary outlet with respect to the secondary outlet.
