A drain region is placed within the well region and adjoins the substrate surface. A source contact is electrically connected to the source region. A drain contact is electrically connected to the drain region. A top region of the first conductivity type is within the well region separate from the drain region and extends laterally from the drain region toward the source region.

    Abstract: A method utilized with an underground conductor detection system for calibrating a downhole transmitter to compensate for detuning of the transmitter antenna by geologic formations. The method comprises sending a synchronization signal to the transmtter antenna, measuring the current flow through the transmitter antenna and adjusting the current to a constant level, and measuring the phase difference between the transmitter antenna current and the synchronization signal. A receiver transmitter is calibrated by sending a synchronization signal to a radiating antenna in the receiver that in turn sends a calibration signal to the receiver antenna that is directed over the entire signal pathway back to surface located signal processing equipment. Another method of underground conductor detection sends a surface wave to the downhole receier to cancel the effect of the surface wave modulation on a target wave being radiated by the underground detector.

The optical servo tracks are imprinted on the floppy disk by placing a stamper disk bearing a template of the optical servo tracks in a hydraulic press and pressing the stamper disk and floppy disk together, typically under five to nine tons per square inch of pressure.

A second capacitor is connected between the first end of the resonant circuit and the power source. A first switch is connected between a second end of the resonant circuit and the reference voltage. A second switch is connected between the second end of the resonant circuit and the power source. A control module operates the first switch and the second switch so that the resonant circuit operates at near resonant frequency. The control module is integrated on a single integrated circuit. The first switch and the second switch may be also integrated on the single integrated circuit.

    Abstract: A circuit generates control signals used in pulse width modulation. A square wave signal generator generates a square wave signal based on the value of a sawtooth signal. The sawtooth signal has a maximum voltage level and a minimum voltage level. The voltage level of the sawtooth signal is compared with a first voltage slightly above the minimum voltage level. When voltage of the sawtooth signal is increasing and reaches the first voltage, a rising edge of the square wave is generated. The voltage level of the sawtooth signal is also compared with a second voltage slightly below the maximum voltage level. When voltage of the sawtooth signal is increasing and reaches the second voltage, a falling edge of the square wave signal is generated.

A base-emitter voltage differential is maintained across the first resistor to develop a first resistor current and a base-emitter voltage is maintained across the second resistor to develop a second resistor current. The first resistor current is mirrored and the second resistor current is subtracted from the mirrored current to obtain a reference current. The resistors have resistance values so that the products of each resistor current multiplied by its temperature coefficient are equal. The resulting reference current is temperature independent.

    Abstract: A regulator circuit is connected to a transformer. The transformer has a primary winding connected to a rectified D.C. voltage signal and has a feedback winding. A feedback capacitor is coupled across the feedback winding of the capacitor. The regulator circuit includes a high voltage switching transistor, a pulse width modulator which controls the high voltage switching transistor and a high voltage power up transistor. At power up, the high voltage power up transistor connects the single high voltage pin to the feedback capacitor allowing the feedback capacitor to begin charging. When the feedback capacitor has charged past a first threshold voltage the pulse width modulator alternately turns the high voltage switching transistor on and off. When the high voltage switching transistor is turned on, the high voltage pin is connected to ground and current passes through the primary winding of the transformer, and thus current is generated through the feedback winding into the feedback capacitor.
