  • Patent number: 4668066
Abstract: Various movable mirrors are arranged within a camera for shifting operation by a lifting mechanism and are provided with a mechanism for promptly settling the movable mirror on its return to an original position from a shifted position. The mechanism includes an antibounce member and when the mirror is forcedly shifted in response to an operation of the camera, the position of the member is biased to the outside of the moving locus of the mirror and upon return of the mirror to its original position, the member is released from the biased state and comes within the moving locus of the mirror to prevent rebound thereof.

  • Patent number: 4665818
Abstract: In a double band press each of the press belts has an associated pressure chamber in which fluid pressure medium acts to pressurize the sheet form material passed between the press belts. Each pressure chamber is formed by a pressure plate, the associted press belt and a sliding surface seal mounted in a groove in the pressure plate with the seal in sliding contact with the press belt. The sliding surface seal is secured within a retaining member fitted with narrow play into a groove in the pressure plate. Each press belt extends horizontally between a pair of spaced rollers. The retaining member is vertically displaceable within the groove. Support members located within the pressure chamber secure the retaining member to the pressure plate. A groove seal in the form of an O-ring is located between the base of the groove and the retaining member and is in contact with the opposite sides of the groove.

  • Patent number: 4666133
Abstract: A wall member for a converter chamber for the treatment of cast iron melt with magnesium. The size and shape of the wall member of a converter have a decisive influence on the efficiency of the treatment of a cast iron metal in a converter and on the accuracy of obtaining a residual magnesium content. For an optimum control of this influence, the length L of the wall member is determined in accordance with the formula L=600.times.T.sup.0.45 .times.A and the height H is determined in accordance with the formula H=0.5 L.times.A, wherein A is a coefficient ranging between 0.5 to 1.5 depending upon the sulfur content of 0.01 to 0.15% by weight and depending upon the thickness of the refractory lining of the converter vessel ranging from 40 to 150 mm.

  • Patent number: 4665694
Abstract: The fluid friction coupling, which is suitable especially for a fan of an internal combustion engine, comprises a buffer chamber (39) which receives a part of the entire quantity of shear fluid contained in the coupling, through an inlet opening (43) placed beneath the shear fluid level (47), when the coupling is not in rotation. The received partial quantity lowers the liquid level in the shear gaps (23). In cold starting therefore the coupling transmits a reduced torque, which by reason of the consequently increased slip increases the pump effect of a pump device (37) and reduces the fan noise. The quantity of shear fluid contained in the buffer chamber (39) is delivered again to the shear fluid cycle of the coupling with time retardation through a constricted opening (45) when the coupling is in operation.

  • Patent number: 4666280
Abstract: A flash shot control device for a camera in which the angle of flash lighting is controlled in accordance with the output of a backlight detector. On assumption that a subject of principal photographic interest takes its place at the center of the field of view, when backlight is detected, the flash lighting is concentrated to the central portion of the field of view, thereby the shadows of the subject are lightened by the flash.

  • Patent number: 4667104
Abstract: A method and apparatus for deriving an off-course signal for an orbiting th satellite, preferably a geostationary satellite, by an earth-horizon sensor. The earth-horizon sensor operates in the infrared range and comprises, in the focal plane of an input lens, a chopper disk, which is periodically reciprocated with a determined chopper frequency (f) and which has a diameter corresponding to the image of the earth, and a detector (1) receiving the periodically interrupted radiation of opposite earth rims. The output signal of the detector is demodulated synchronously with the chopper frequency (f) and corrected with a correction signal corresponding to different temperatures of opposite earth rims (earth anomaly).

  • Patent number: 4666275
Abstract: In the disclosed camera, an arrangement shifts the light detecting location of a light sensor facility from a first position offset from the camera's optical axis to a second light detecting location offset from the axis and angularly displaced from the first position. In a specific embodiment, a mount, rotatable about an objective lens, shifts a light detector from below the lens to the side of the lens so that when the camera is turned from a horizontal to a vertical position, the light detector may still be located below the lens. Preferably, the mount also carries the flash emitter of a flash unit and a camera grip so they retain their positions when the camera is turned. Effectively, the light detector, the flash emitter, and the grip remain in position while the camera body is turned.

  • Patent number: 4666096
Abstract: A thread spooler includes a plurality of spool units, each of which includes a thread defect sensor of a defect classification device which reacts to defects of the thread to be wound up. A large number of sets of predetermined operational parameters of the spool units and/or the defect classification devices can be recorded by a central input device into a central memory which stores all these data simultaneously. Each of the spool units includes a decentralized memory, into which one of the centrally stored operational parameter sets can be loaded individually for each spool unit by a call-up switch. A central control determines for respective groups of spool units a predetermined sequence, in which the operational parameter sets can be called up by the spool units. The classification device determines the thread defect, preferably individually for each spool unit, and indeed respectively referred onto the last wound gauged length of the thread.

  • Patent number: 4664495
Abstract: A rear light condition detecting device for a camera is arranged to measure distances to a plurality of parts appearing within a taking picture plane on the assumption that an object located nearby is the main object to be photographed or that a light source such as the sun is among faraway objects. The device determines the object to be in a rear-light or counter-light condition in cases where the luminance of the nearby object is extremely lower than other objects or that of a faraway object is extremely higher than other objects.
