  • Patent number: 7198546
Abstract: A pad groove analyzer and associated method configured to assess the grooves on the pad and determine how worn the pad is. The pad groove analyzer may be configured to monitor the grooves via a contact or no-contact process. In a contact process, the pad groove analyzer may include a stylus which physically contacts and moves along the pad. As the stylus falls into the grooves in the pad as the stylus moves along the pad, signals are created, and a stylus monitor uses the signals to determine to what extent the pad is worn. The stylus monitor can be configured to communicate with the general tool controller. In a no-contact process, the pad groove analyzer may take several different forms.

  • Patent number: 7190185
Abstract: A test methodology which provides that test structures, such as transistors, are arranged in a plurality of rows. A logic circuit controls which row is to be measured. An incrementer receives a triggering signal and functions as an address adder. Each time the triggering signal rises from 0 to 1, the output of the incrementer increases by 1. The output of the incrementer serves as the address input into a decoder. The decoder is connected to the rows of test structures. Preferably, each test structure contains a control circuit which is controlled by this signal (i.e., the output of the decoder). If the test structures are transistors, bias to each of the transistors can be applied separately with a common gate, source and well, and measurement can be done with a separate drain node.

  • Patent number: 7185431
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a linear compressor includes measures to account for possible variations in manufacture of the spring connecting between a cylinder part and a piston part. In the method, the piston is located at a predetermined axial position in the bore of the cylinder of the compressor. A spring that is connected with the cylinder part is extended so that a piston connection point of the spring is at a position based on a predetermined displacement of the spring or a position in which the spring exerts a predetermined reaction force. In this position, this piston and the spring connection point are thus separated by a distance that depends on the actual formed dimension of the individual spring. The piston and the piston connection point are subsequently joined to have a rigid axial separation that is fixed according to the separation attained in these steps.

  • Patent number: 7181820
Abstract: A receptacle which is configured to receive a fastener element having a hexagon, or some other polygonal profile, and which is configured to rotationally or angularly orientate the insert fastener element. One version of the receptacle provides that the receptacle is in the open position as a fastener element is dropped therein. Then, a jaw cylinder closes the receptacle, thereby orientating the fastener element. Another version of the receptacle uses springs instead of a jaw cylinder, and orientates the fastener element upon rotation of a threaded shaft of a pulling head.

  • Patent number: 7170901
Abstract: A device and method of controlling a de-jitter buffer, and specifically the nominal delay thereof. The nominal delay is adjusted based on delay information associated with a network in which the de-jitter buffer is located. The nominal delay is maintained between a minimum and maximum nominal delay, and is adjusted based on the probability that a packet will arrive outside a predetermined delay interval.

  • Patent number: 7170031
Abstract: The invention relates to earth connections to workpieces particularly a workpiece to which an arc is to be struck, and more particularly to a workpiece that is underwater. It is of considerable importance that a workpiece is properly connected to earth, and that the impedance of the connection is not such as will elevate dangerously the voltage on the workpiece. The objective of the invention is to solve this problem, an objective met by an earth connection for workplaces that comprises a loop in the connection of the workpiece to earth, the loop being connected at each end to and being completed by the workpiece, and there being a sensor means to sense current flowing in the loop above a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 7167469
Abstract: A method of processing Voice band Data in a communication path in a telecommunication network. The communication path consists of a plurality of Voice band Data relay gateways, including a first Voice band Data relay gateway, a last Voice band Data relay gateway, and at least one Voice band Data relay gateway between the first and last Voice band Data relay gateways. The method includes steps of detecting the Voice band Data relay gateway, and disabling the at least one Voice band Data relay gateway between the first and last Voice band Data relay gateways, whereby the at least one Voice band Data relay gateway between the first and last Voice band Data relay gateways does not encode and decode the Voice band Data.

  • Patent number: 7162973
Abstract: A grill member for use in a poultry feeder assembly has a generally curved rim member having an outward side surface which varies in radial distance relative to a center of the grill member and a top surface which varies in vertical height relative to a generally planar lower edge of the rim member without the need to adjust the grill member. The grill member also is configured to be rotated relative to a rotationally stable drop tube member in order to change both a position of a brood gate defined in the drop tube member relative to a base portion of a pan member and a height of a feed gate provided between a distal end of the drop tube member and the base portion of the pan member in order to control the flow of feed into the pan member through the brood gate and the feed gate.

  • Patent number: 7157035
Abstract: The present invention relates to delivery conduits used in systems that provide positive pressure ventilation therapy. In particular, the present invention relates to a sleeve that allows flexible conduits to be joined and sealed to a thermoplastic connector, allowing for gases to be supplied to the conduit. The sleeve is used in the over moulding of an end connector onto the conduit. The sleeve and method of attaching a connector to a conduit of the present invention has the advantage that it prevents the connector from loosening or breaking when the conduit is bent, pulled or stressed, which can occur in some cases where the connector is attached to the conduit using a bond, such as glue. Furthermore, the occurrences of flashing of plastic across the conduit walls will be prevented during moulding, ensuring that no air or water leakages occur within the conduit walls.

  • Patent number: 7156599
Abstract: A cage nut assembly includes a nut and a cage wrapped therearound. The nut and/or the cage are provided with a number of stand-offs. The stand-offs reduce the amount of bearing surface interface between the cage and the nut thus reducing the possibility that the two parts will stick to each other after a bath is applied to the mating surface, and thus to the cage nut assembly, as the cage is welded to the mating surface. The stand-offs can be configured such that the cage nut assembly can move through the bath in a horizontal position, an upside down position, or a sideways position, substantially without the cage and nut sticking to one another.

  • Patent number: 7153691
Abstract: The present invention is a method of identifying and assessing DNA euchromatin in biological cells. The amount and/or distribution of DNA euchromatin generally relates to RNA/protein synthesis, which may change in certain conditions, such as disease, and/or cellular response to environmental and/or chemical agents. The present invention detects the potential presence of disease by assessing DNA euchromatin in ostensibly normal cells and similarly provides means to monitor and assess treatment response. The present invention may also be used to assess how application (or removal) of influences, such as environment, radiation, chemical agents, medications, herbs, vitamins, etc., interact to effect cells, establishing uses in monitoring wellness and pharmacological screening. Additional uses include assessing age related disorders, allergies, infections, Alzheimer's disease, ‘Time of Death’, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc.
