Abstract: A method of forming a radially expandable externally grooved tubular fastener from metal, comprising the steps of providing a suitable tubular blank (11) having a tubular wall (12) and squeezing the tubular wall between an internal member (17) with a surface which engages the internal tubular wall face (15) of the blank and a plurality of external members (18) provided with suitably shaped surfaces engaging the external tubular wall face (16) of the blank (11) thereby to form grooves (23) on the external tubular wall face (15) of the blank (11).
Abstract: A tool and method for installing collapsible inserts. The tool includes a stabilizing handle which is threaded onto a tool body. The tool body is threaded onto a tool shaft. In use, a collapsible insert is threaded onto the tool and the insert is positioned in a hole in a workpiece. An actuating handle of the tool is then rotated, while holding the stabilizing handle, to cause the collapsible insert to collapse, thereby installing the insert relative to the workpiece. Once the insert has been collapsed using the tool, the actuating handle is rotated in the opposite direction, while holding the stabilizing handle, to disengage the tool from the insert. Then, a hanger is threadably inserted into the collapsed insert and a threaded rod is threaded into the hanger. Alternatively, the threaded rod is directly threadably engaged with the collapsed insert, without need for a hanger.

Abstract: A method of securing a nut plate to a workpiece includes the step of providing a nut plate include a nut, a holding bracket having tubular and bracket portions, and a stem. The tubular portion has an aperture therethrough which is inwardly tapered from a first end to a second end thereof. The stem is positioned within the aperture of the tubular portion. The tubular portion is positioned within an aperture defining a wall of a workpiece, such that the bracket portion rests on top of the workpiece. The nut is retained within the bracket portion. A force is applied to the stem such that the head expands the tubular portion radially outwardly from the first end to the second end such that the tubular portion becomes secured to the wall. The holding bracket may be formed of two separate elements, a sleeve having a tubular portion and a bracket.
Abstract: A clothes drying appliance includes a cabinet and a drum inside the cabinet supported on a drum support structure. A belt passes around the drive pulley of a drive motor and around the drum for driving rotation of the drum in either direction. A belt tensioning device includes a pair of spaced apart tensioning pulleys each having an axis of rotation substantially parallel with the axis of rotation of the drive pulley. An imaginary line between the centres of the tensioning pulleys separates the drive pulley from the drum. The pulleys are supported on a yoke and the yoke passes around the drive pulley, with the tensioning pulleys spaced sufficiently close to impinge upon the path of the belt passing around the pulley and drum. A biasing agent such as a spring presses the pulleys toward the drum by urging the yoke toward the pulley.

Abstract: The invention relates to pet beds, and particularly with pet beds with a wall and a base encased in a fabric overcoat. Known pet beds have the disadvantage of needing a rimmed section to allow use by e.g., heavy dogs, and the further disadvantage that rimmed sections on walls formed from resilient materials generate high levels of waste. The object of the invention is to avoid this disadvantage, an objective met by a pet bed comprising a peripheral wall formed from a resilient material, the wall having a trapezium cross-sectional shape that diminishes in width from its upper to lower end.
Abstract: A charge information calculating apparatus according to the present invention has a configuration provided with inputting means for inputting information, and charge calculating means for calculating introduction expenses of facilities required for working as a franchisee that provides automobile repairing services by a specific repairing method. With this configuration, it is possible to provide a charge information processing apparatus for calculating introduction expenses of facilities required for working as a franchisee that provides automobile repairing services by a specific repairing method.
Abstract: The invention relates to a pair of pressing jaws for hydraulic or electric pressing tools for pressing fittings onto pipes or for the press connection of electric cables, the two pressing jaws being disposed for rotation about a common axis and each pressing jaw forming a bearing eye for this purpose. In order to configure a pair of pressing jaws of the type in question in a more functionally advantageous manner, it is proposed that each pressing jaw forms two bearing eyes with coaxial bearing openings, and the bearing eyes are disposed in an interengaging manner in the assembled state.
Abstract: An apparatus and method of enclosing material in a netting and supplying a handle for ease of carrying the netted material, comprising clippers, irises, and a handle maker. A novel scissors assembly for severing the netting is disclosed. A conveyor carries the material to a pair of irises. The irises gather the netting around the material, the first clipper closes and severs the netting, and the handle maker forms a loop out of the severed netting. The second clipper attaches the loop back to the netting to form a handle. A scale can be used to weigh the material and a printer can create a label, with the weight or whatever other information is desired, for attachment to the netting.

Abstract: An adaptor for a cable puller provides for attachment of the cable puller to various sized conduits. The adaptor provides a V-shaped groove in which the conduit rests. A T-shaped clamp secures the adaptor to the conduit. Gripping members are provided along the V-shaped groove. The gripping members include ribs which mesh with a thread on the outer surface of the conduit to provide a secure connection between the cable puller and the conduit.
Abstract: A methodology for generating scan based transition patterns (i.e., ATPG pattern generation for transition delay faults (“TDF”)) wherein when either a slow-to-rise (STR) or a slow-to-fall (STE) transition fault is detected, that specific fault is removed from a fault universe as well as its companion TDF, wherein the companion fault is a fault on the same node as the detected fault but has the opposite transition. In other words, if a slow-to-rise (STR) transition fault is detected, the slow-to-rise (STR) transition fault is removed from the fault universe as well as its corresponding slow-to-fall (STF) transition fault (and vise versa). By removing companion faults as well as those which are specifically detected, pattern generation run time is reduced as well as the total pattern count for the final delay test pattern.
Abstract: The present invention provides a simple, inexpensive apparatus for and method of capturing biological or other material from sample suspensions on a collection surface and for depositing captured material on a receiving surface, such as a microscope slide, for observation and analysis. Accordingly, cytological material may be deposited in near mono-layers for the detection of disease. In one embodiment of the present invention, density gradients of material are captured and deposited, thus providing a desired range of concentrations for examination. In another embodiment multiple depositions or multiple slides may be made from the same sample suspension. The method and apparatus to exploit this new method are both presented for various applications. The dimensions of material captured and deposited may be controlled and used in conjunction with microscope slides that confine material to specific regions of interest.

Abstract: A bond pad structure which includes an aluminum bond pad which include one or more dopants that effectively control the growth of IMC to a nominal level in spite of high tensile stresses in the wafer. For example, aluminum can be doped with 1–2 atomic % of Mg. Alternatively, Pd or Si can be used, or elements like Cu or Si can be used as the dopant in order to reduce the overall tensile stresses in the wafer. This can control the abnormal growth of IMC, thus arresting the IMC crack formation. A combination of dopants can be used to both control the tensile stresses and also slightly alter the gold-Aluminum interface thus enabling a uniform and thin IMC formation. This tends to reduce or eliminate any voiding or cracking which would otherwise occur at the wire bond transfer.
