  • Patent number: 4520940
Abstract: A flask, particularly for carrying alcoholic beverages, comprises a tubular body portion, having a seamless continuous internal surface, with respective inner end members fitted in the body portion to close the ends thereof and respective outer end members secured by soldering to the body portion at the ends thereof to define respective chambers between the inner and outer end members. The solder of the joints is out of contact with the interior of the flask, and any excess solder is received in the chamber, so that in use, liquid in the flask cannot become contaminated by contact with solder. A filling and pouring spout is secured to the inner and outer end members at one end of the flask.

  • Patent number: 4519597
Abstract: A folding apparatus for separating a web into individual signatures and producing two folds in each signature, comprises an upper cylinder, a lower cylinder and an intermediate cylinder. Each of the cylinders is rotated about an axis, the axes of the upper and intermediate cylinders being parallel and spaced apart to define a given plane and the axis of the lower cylinder being parallel to the axes of the first and intermediate cylinders and offset from the plane thereof. The upper and lower cylinders rotate in the same direction and the intermediate cylinder in the opposite direction. First and second folding assemblies produce two folds in each signature. The first folding assembly includes cooperating portions carried on the upper cylinder and on the intermediate cylinder. The second folding assembly includes cooperating portions carried on the lower cylinder and on the intermediate cylinder. A cutting assembly separates the web to produce the individual signatures.

  • Patent number: 4518390
Abstract: There is disclosed a fixture or apparatus for use in the tinting of a contact lens or the like. The fixture includes a tube having a body portion and a closed end portion, which includes an annular masking structure to support the lens and define a ring-like unmasked area. Proximate the masking structure, a tinting medium receiving chamber is defined. A method for using the fixture is also disclosed. In an upright position, the tube body portion is filled with a preparatory solution. Into this fluid-filled tube, a contact lens is dropped. As the dropped lens passes through the liquid column, the hydraulic forces acting thereon produce a state of dynamic equilibrium, with the lens convex side down. This action tends to properly position and center the lens as it comes to rest upon the mask structure. Next, a mandrel device is inserted into the tube to fix the lens in place against the mask.

  • Patent number: 4513973
Abstract: A pocket-sized electronic board game is disclosed. The apparatus for playing the game comprises a casing which serves also as the playing surface, through which project a plurality of push-buttons for actuating the keys in selected positions. A membrane-type key board may alternatively be used. The push-buttons and keys are arranged in a plurality of rows and columns with elongate light sources extending parallel to the rows of columns and between adjacent pairs of row-wise or column-wise keys. The electronic circuit within the casing acts to detect depression of two adjacent keys in any row or column and operates when such detection is made to cause the light source between the two actuated keys to illuminate and remain illuminated until the end of the game so that by depressing pairs of keys in turn players can "claim" sides of the squares constituted by the light sources.

  • Patent number: 4511324
Abstract: A mold assembly for forming a dough mass into a unique pizza shell. The molding method and apparatus are operable to form the pizza shell from a preestablished, pre-measured quantity of dough sufficient to fill the mold cavity completely, but to obviate extrusion of excess dough from the mold. Thus, material is conserved and wasteful trimming operations are eliminated. The selected mass of dough used is correlated with the specific volume of the mold cavity to ensure complete filling while avoiding "overrun". Controlled spacing is provided between the cooperating dough-shaping mold elements so that air may escape from the mold cavity during compressive closure of the mold while the dough is retained to prevent extrusion. The shell itself is characterized in that it is not merely a flat sheet, but consists essentially of a planar base sheet bounded by a circumambient, integrally-formed, upstanding rim, marginal dam, or edge.

  • Patent number: 4511189
Abstract: A roller bearing for linear movement of the type wherein the rollers circulate endlessly is provided. A direction changing path is provided in the shape of a circular curve reversing relative to the direction of movement of the bearing, a connecting load track and return hole at each end, for circulating the rollers. The shape of such direction changing path is obtained in such a manner that the projection of the path onto a plane perpendicular to the direction of movement of the bearing is also a circular curve. As a result, width and height of the bearing unit are made optimum so as to achieve an overall most compact bearing unit. Also a preload device and grease are arranged. The compact endless linear movement roller bearing thus obtained is made without any decrease in the bearing load capacity of prior art apparatus the same size.
