Patent number: 4534343Abstract: A metered dose inhaler is provided for inhalation of asthmatic medication. An upright cylindrical air chamber has structure at the top for receiving a pressurized canister of asthmatic medication and for conducting metered doses thereof into the air chamber. A one way valve is provided at the bottom of the air chamber to admit air but to preclude escape of mist. A mouthpipe is provided at the top of the chamber on one side thereof for insertion in a patient's mouth. A deflectable diaphragm is provided in cooperation with the mouthpipe so that when a patient inhales the diaphragm deflects to permit the mist in the air chamber to be inhaled, air entering the one way valve of the bottom of the air chamber to supplant the mist. When the patient exhales the diaphragm closes, and the exhaled air is bypassed to the outside.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1984Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: Trutek Research, Inc.Inventors: Christopher Nowacki, Alfred G. Patent number: 4534229Abstract: A novel method for preparing a ground-meat sample for compositional analysis and an apparatus for performing the method are disclosed. The method comprises a series of steps. The first step includes obtaining a predetermined quantity of ground meat. Next, the meat is formed into a layer having a predetermined thickness. Then, a first portion of the layer is isolated from the remainder. The isolated first portion is then urged into an elongated, hollow member having an axis, an open end, and a resistive end movable along the axis relative to the open end. The isolated first portion and the resistive end are then urged together so as to produce a substantially air void-free isolate out of the first portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1983Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: Dickey-john CorporationInventors: David B. Patent number: 4534674Abstract: A road resurfacing or repaving machine is disclosed. The machine is self-propelled, and has a chassis. A preliminary heater depends from the machine chassis to provide preliminary heat to the underlying road. A preliminary scarifier breaks up the top of the heated road surface. A main heater behind the preliminary scarifier provides a second heating action, and a main scarifier behind the main heater further scarifies the hot road material and the road surface. Spray means sprays liquid asphalt cutback over the hot, scarified material. A first macadam dispensing device behind the spray means dispenses new hot mix material to the hot, sprayed material and road surface to make up solid material lost through pot hole formation or other road deterioration. A first mixer commingles the newly added hot mix with the old, sprayed, scarified material on the road surface. A first screed levels and at least partly compacts this material to form a first lift.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1983Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: Cutler Repaving, Inc.Inventor: Earl F. Patent number: 4531536Abstract: A novel flow divider-combiner valve unit is disclosed. A valve body includes fluid passageway means for controlling fluid flow through the divider-combiner valve unit. The fluid passageway means comprises: a cavity, first, second and third passageways; first and second pressure-responsive elements; and biasing elements for retaining the pressure-responsive elements substantially in open positions until a predetermined substantial pressure differential exists in the divider-combiner valve unit. The biasing elements also enable the pressure-responsive elements to move substantially independently of each other toward closed positions when a first pressure differential in the divider-combiner valve unit exceeds the predetermined pressure differential. The biasing elements additionally cause the pressure-responsive elements to move substantially in unison when a second pressure differential in the divider-combiner valve unit exceeds the predetermined pressure differential.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1984Date of Patent: July 30, 1985Assignee: Modular Controls CorporationInventor: Constantine Kosarzecki

Patent number: 4530462Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating, spreading and distributing a solid or liquid particulate material. The particulate material is pneumatically conveyed into a centrifugal chamber within a rotor (20) operatable by the flow of material for centrifugal separation of the particulate material. The terminal edge of the circumference of the centrifugal chamber serves as an overflow for establishing a buffer store and has a flow-retarding inwardly directed flange. A baffle may be provided around the terminal edge to intercept the material flung out and to conduct the material, via hopper-like flow-retarding recesses, to different outlets provided around the terminal edge.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Assignee: Ingenjorsfirman Alf Andersson HandelsbolagInventor: Alf H. Patent number: 4530308Abstract: A feeding system for delivering feed to troughs associated with rows of animal confinement cages is disclosed. The system comprises mobile hopper means for carrying a load of feed past troughs associated with each row of animal confinement cages. Delivery means extend from the hoppers; these delivery systems each receive feed from the hopper and deposit the feed in the feed troughs. The delivery sub-systems include a tube extending from a hopper and hopper conveyor toward a distal tube end at the trough. A shoe is attached to the tube at the distal end so as to support that tube distal end at the location spaced above the trough bottom. A grader blade is pivotally attached to the shoe in such a position as to be located behind the tube when the shoe and tube are moving in a forward direction along the trough.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Assignee: Chore-Time Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Keith A.
