  • Patent number: 4573889
Abstract: The bore of a bearing bush for a gear pump has a first recess located in a zone of load concentration in the bore, the first recess being supplied with a fluid under pressure. A second recess in the bore is located wholly outside the zone in which concentrated loads occur and acts as a reservoir for fluid, to prevent cavitation within the bore as a result of low pressures caused by radical movements of a shaft within the bush. A passage connects the second recess with a zone of lower pressure within the pump.

  • Patent number: 4573238
Abstract: A door closer device comprises a body defining an internal chamber in which a piston is slidably received, the chamber, in use, containing hydraulic fluid. A valve is arranged in a passage in the body to permit the fluid to flow through the passage in both directions between spaces in the chamber at respective opposite sides of the piston. The valve has a first part axially adjustable along the passage and a valve member attached to said first part but movable axially relative thereto in the passage between extreme positions where it engages respective stop means on the first member, the valve member allowing fluid to flow unrestricted through an orifice at one end of the passage in one direction when in one of its said extreme positions, and at the other extreme position restricting flow through said orifice in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4570160
Abstract: A system is provided for transmitting data from at least one control position to at least one remote display position over a plurality of transmission lines coupled between the control position and the display position. These transmission lines include a common power supply line, a ground line and a number M of conductors. Each conductor is used for transmitting one or more of a number N of different data. The display position includes a number R of display characters. The invention provides circuits for transmitting N data on M transmission lines to actuate a given combination of R display characters corresponding to each of the N data wherein both R and N are greater than M so that the transmission lines are fewer in number than either the number of data or the number of display characters.

  • Patent number: 4570247
Abstract: A motion detector system includes an ultrasonic transmitter, receiver and phase detector which produces as output signals of frequency related to the speed of movement of any moving object in a zone being monitored. The output of the phase detector is fed to two separate bandpass filters having different pass-bands characteristic of the frequencies generated by a human being moving in the zone being monitored. A warning is sounded only when signals have been present in both bands for more than a predetermined period.

  • Patent number: 4567317
Abstract: An EMI/RFI shielded housing for an electrical apparatus comprises a case member and a complementary cover member, each comprising an end wall portion and a side wall portion together defining substantially continuous and unbroken peripheral surfaces. The side wall portions of these members are respectively configured for an interference fit therebetween to define an assembled condition of the housing. This interference fit is defined by the side wall portion of the case member being received interiorally of the side wall portion of the cover member. Moreover, substantially the entire inner surfaces of the end wall portions of both case and cover member are electrically conductive, substantially the entire inner surface of the side wall portion of the case member is electrically conductive and major fractional portions of respective facing surfaces of the assembled and interference-fitted side wall portions are electrically conductive.

  • Patent number: 4563821
Abstract: A bow-string mounted, self-aligning, positively positioned peep sight for a compound bow. The body of the peep sight includes a plurality of posts extending therefrom and about which divided strands of the bow string are laced or woven for selectively positioned securement of the peep sight in place. A peep sight hole is formed as a sighting port extending through the body of the peep sight. A bow sight aligner distinct from the string-mounted bow sight is secured to the bow string and connected by means of a tensioning band to a straight cable segment of the compound bow, whereby when the bow string is drawn, the band is tensioned and acts upon the bow string positively and reproducibly physically to orient the peep sight mounted thereon so that the sighting path through the peep sight bears directly on and aligns precisely with a longitudinal axis of an arrow held in the drawn bow.

  • Patent number: 4562626
Abstract: A snap fastener and method of attaching the same to a section of sheet material are disclosed. The snap fastener comprises an operative component and a securing component, both of these components being formed of plastics material. The operative component has a base wall with an opening therethrough and a tubular portion including a snap engaging portion formed thereon surrounds the opening and projects from one side of the base wall. The securing component has a pin and a cap flange at one end thereof, the pin being adapted to pass through the opening of the operative component so that the terminal end portion of the pin is located beyond the side of the base wall from which the tubular portion projects. The terminal end portion of the pin is deformable when so located relative to the operative component so as to secure the two components against separation. At least a peripheral portion of the cap flange slopes outwardly in a direction towards the terminal end of the pin.

  • Patent number: 4555963
Abstract: A roller-type drive is provided having three rollers, one of which is a wedging roller which produces a tighter wedging action for all three rollers in response to increasing torque. A cross-pin is provided in the stud or axle about which the wedging roller turns, and this cross-pin is biased by a spring-pressed axial pin having a tapered nose received in a tapered notch in the cross-pin such that the cross-pin initially urges the wedging roller into wedging position. The cross-pin subsequently follows the wedging roller as it moves further into wedging position, but eventually is stopped by the axial pin, and thereafter limits further movement of the wedging roller into wedging position, thereby limiting the torque that can be transmitted by the roller-type drive.
