  • Patent number: 4828161
Abstract: A method and device for manufacturing thin-walled hollow bodies comprising concentric layers employs, for thin-walled structural parts of chemical installations subjected to stress at high temperatures, non-layered pipes of single-metal materials. Due to the methods of manufacture, structural parts of these materials have disadvantages because the single materials of which they are built cannot simultaneously satisfy the demands of corrosion resistance, high-temperature stability and resistance to scaling. According to the new method, for example, thin-walled pipes of concentric, non-corrosive, high-temperature stable, and non-scaling material layers are intended to be produced. For the non-corrosive inner layer, for example, a conventional thin-walled pipe is used.

  • Patent number: 4828228
Abstract: A device for changing tap runners in shaft furnaces includes tap runners which have linings subject to wear and therefore such runners must be repaired regularly. Transport of the runner requires a considerable crane capacity with correspondingly heavy building construction. The device according to the invention permits transport of the tap runner without a casting room crane. Instead, the tap runner is raised or lowered between the mill floor, or another level, and a tapping platform by means of hydraulically driven traction elements taking support on runner supports arranged at tapping platform level.

  • Patent number: 4828861
Abstract: The invention concerns the spreading of dough string when it moves on a cloth band. The spreading is effected by means of a pressing roll having a spiral like ridge around its periphery. The spiral runs from one end of the roll to the opposite end, but alters its spiral direction at the middle area of the roll. According to the invention the spiral roll is kept out of direct contact with the surface of the dough string by a cloth conveyed between the roll and the dough string with the advance speed of the dough. With this arrangement the rotation speed of the pressing roll can be selected independently of the advance speed of the dough string.

  • Patent number: 4825982
Abstract: An exhaust brake incorporates a slide valve with a decreasing returning or opening effort without also having an increased working or closing effort of its valve elements incorporated therein. The brake system includes a first valve piston connected to a closing slide valve and adapted to move in reciprocating motion inside a cylinder under an operating pressure supplied thereto, and in addition, a second valve piston adapted to be driven in rectilinear motion under the operating pressure in the cylinder so as to work upon a resilient member to be deformed resiliently. When opening the slide valve, a restoring effort of the resilient member is relayed effectively to the first valve piston through a transmitting member to work in assistance with the returning motion of the valve piston.

  • Patent number: 4823660
Abstract: A device and method for cutting labels from a strip of heat meltable material comprises a frame, a die plate mounted for resilient movement on the frame and a punch mounted for movement toward and away from the die plate. The punch carries a cutting edge which cooperates with a die surface of the die plate to cut a label. A reciprocating device includes a spring loaded plunger which moves the die plate with its cutting edge into contact with the die surface of the die plate. The die plate is spring mounted to the frame so that excess movement of the punch toward the die plate is absorbed by the springs of the die plate. Any additional excess movement is absorbed by the spring loaded plunger. The die plate may also be provided with a hole conforming substantially to the outer contour of the label. The edge follows the contour of the hole but it is dimensioned slightly larger than the hole so that a margin of die surface remains around the hole against which the cutting edge operates.

  • Patent number: 4822156
Abstract: A reflecting telescope according to the invention includes a tube having an inlet and a primary mirror end. A plurality of mirror segments cooperate to form a single mirror of a single paraboloid-shaped surface by grinding the mirror segments all together in a single grinding process. This mirror is then positioned at the primary mirror end of the tube. Each of the plurality of mirror segments has a circular disk shape and is arranged in one of circular tracks, each circular track being defined by an inner circle and an outer circle with each inner and outer circle being concentric to the tube central axis. The areas free of mirror segments lie between the mirror segments of circular disk shape and an innermost area free of mirror segments lies within an innermost circular track. Bearings are positioned about each of the mirror segments at the areas free of mirror segments for adjustment of the mirror segments.

  • Patent number: 4822300
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for connecting cable wires to cutting/clamping contacts of dropwire connector banks of telecommunication sytems by means of a press-in tool provided with guide and press-in pieces and an actuating face. In order to allow a connection of a dropwire cable wire that thick insulation jacket in one single operation step to a cutting/clamping contact of the dropwire connector bank, the actuating face of the press-in tool is formed as an application body immediately adjacent to the guide and press-in pieces for a striking or lever tool, in particular a screwdriver. By exerting a striking or lever force on the press-in tool, a dropwire cable wire can, thus, be connected in one single operation step to a cutting/clamping contact of a dropwire connector bank. In a further embodiment of the invention, the press-in tool is formed as a part of the closing plug and serves for the fixation of the thin cable wires in dropwire connector banks.

  • Patent number: 4822572
Abstract: A chemical oxygen generator for use in respirators and resuscitators for providing an oxygen reserve includes oxygen in chemically bound compacts or oxygen single-candles and the oxygen is released when needed in the course of a chemical reaction. The oxygen single candles are fitted together axially in a canister in modular construction with incandescence elements therebetween. In the cover of the canister, opposite the upper end wall of the first single candle, there is an igniting device, and in the bottom, an outlet opening for the escape of the released oxygen. As soon as the first oxygen single-candle is activated by means of the igniting device, the oxygen reaction sets in and a reaction front moves in the direction of the next single candle. The reaction transmission to the next single candle occurs through the intermediate incandescence element.
