Abstract: The tracking of a motion of an optically readable tag is disclosed. In one embodiment, an optically readable tag comprises a plurality of data features, one or more orientation features, and an optically readable tracking feature. The tracking feature comprises a continuous region with a minimum dimension greater than a maximum dimension of each data feature. Additionally, the data features and the orientation features are separated from the tracking feature by a border having a minimum width greater than a maximum dimension of each data feature. With this configuration, the tracking feature may be tracked even when a tag is moving too quickly for the data features to be read and tracked.
Abstract: Boosted engine operation and spark timing of an engine may be adjusted with alcohol content of the fuel in a direct injection engine. Further, various adjustments may be performed in numerous related systems to account for increased maximum engine torque, such as traction control, transmission shifting, etc.
Abstract: The device comprises: a tubular member (1); means (3, 5, 11) to insert and stretch a tubular knitted article (M) over the outside of said tubular member and over an end thereof; a control unit. It also comprises a crown (101) of detection elements cooperating with the end of the tubular member, and the control unit is programmed to determine the angular position of the tubular article stretched over the tubular member by reading the signal supplied by the detection elements in a definite reciprocal position of said tubular article, of said tubular member and of said detection elements.
Abstract: The display of a scrollable list of items is described. In one disclosed embodiment, a list of items may be displayed on a scrollable computing device display in such a manner that, upon receiving an input requesting movement of a select indicator to a different list item, the select indicator is moved on the display toward the different list item and the list is scrolled on the display in an opposing direction.
Abstract: A cladding (cover) element (32) includes a reception unit which is integrated therein. The reception unit contains a receiving coil (10) for the contactless transfer of electric energy and a plurality of flux-conducting elements (15a, 15b; 16a, 16b) that are associated with the receiving coil (10) for concentrating the field strength. The cover element (32) is made of a fiber-reinforced plastic. The flux-conducting elements (15a, 15b; 16a, 16b) and the receiving coil (10) are arranged in a base body (18) that is used to position the elements and coil and are embedded with the base body (18) in the cladding element (32). A process is also provided for producing the cladding element (32).

Abstract: A method for machining workpieces (6) uses a moving laser beam (4), whereby the laser tool (3) is held at a separation above the workpiece (6) by means of a multi-axis mechanical manipulator (2) with a manipulator hand (8) and moved along a given track in an offset movement. During the machining process an at least partly opposing compensation movement of the laser beam (4) is superimposed on the offset movement. A device is provided for machining workpieces (6) with a moving laser beam (4). The laser tool (3) is held by means of a multi-axis mechanical manipulator (2) and a device for generation of a opposing compensation movement of the laser beam (4) is superimposed on the offset movement.
Abstract: An insole which is individually adaptable for insertion in footwear is disclosed. The insole has an upper cradle having an upper surface for contact with a foot. The upper surface is a ETC material. A lower interlocking surface is molded of EVA for cushioning of the foot. A lower cradle having an upper surface with an arch depression and a lower surface with flow domes provided. The flow dome has a flow hole fluidly communicating with the arch depression. A gel layer is placed in the arch depression, the gel layer being moldable via heat. The insole is heated to allow the gel layer to soften. The user then places their foot in on the insole allowing the gel layer to conform to the user's feet. The gel layer then cools and sets in the shape. Excess gel in the gel layer runs out through the flow holes and fills the flow domes. The excess gel is removed and the flow dome is plugged.
Abstract: Various methods are described for monitoring cylinder valve deactivation in an engine, the engine including at least a cylinder valve actuator for deactivating at least a cylinder of the engine. One example method comprises indicating degradation of the valve actuator based on crankshaft acceleration.

Abstract: A method is described for starting an internal combustion engine. During a run-up in engine speed of the engine starting, the method includes adjusting intake valve closing timing in response to barometric pressure to provide a desired air amount in the cylinder, with a longer valve opening with respect to crankshaft angle at higher altitudes as compared to a shorter valve opening with respect to crankshaft angle at lower altitudes for a given operating constraint.
Abstract: A system for calibrating a response to an exhaust-stream NOx level in a motor vehicle is provided. The system comprises a NOx sensor that includes an electrode, a current from the electrode responsive to the exhaust-stream NOx level while a bias voltage is applied to the electrode. The system further comprises a controller configured to interrupt the bias voltage and to adjust a motor-vehicle response to the current based at least partly on an attained voltage of the electrode while the bias voltage is interrupted. Other embodiments provide a method of calibrating a NOx sensor response in terms of gain and offset parameters.
