Abstract: The invention provides a method for modulating attentive cognition comprising administering a compound that alters intraneuronal carbonic anhydrase activity thereby affecting establishment of a theta rhythm. The metabolic pathway of the compound preferably involves bicarbonate-mediated GABAergic depolarization. The term “attentive cognition” is meant to encompass memory formation, learning, spatial memory, and attention. The modulating may be stimulating, or the compound may have the multiple effects of inhibiting intraneuronal carbonic anhydrase activity, establishment of a theta rhythm, and memory acquisition. The invention further provides a method of modulating memory and attention comprising switching theta rhythm on and off, the switching comprising potentiating or inhibiting intraneuronal carbonic anhydrase activity.

Abstract: A separate parison separation assembly for each parison in a multiple parison blow molding apparatus. Each assembly has a shear plate secured in a recess machined into the mold in order to provide a positive and repeatable location of the shear plate. The shear plate is square and provides eight cutting edges; each of the four sides of the shear plate by rotating the shear plate as an edge wears, and by turning it over. The shear plate has a useful life up to eight times that of the prior art designs. The cut-off knife for each assembly is secured to the other half of the mold, directly on its surface, with a compression pocket cut into the face of this half of the mold to contain and to compress the parison between the mold halves. The design eliminates open space at the edge where the flash forms, reducing the mass of polymer at the edge and thus the temperature of the flash edge.

Abstract: A windup window shade has a windup shaft and a window shade web fastened on it. The window shade web is provided with a traction rod, which is moved at both ends by means of drive members along the guide rails. A compensating device is provided to compensate assembly tolerances or shape tolerances, which assures that too great tensions extending parallel with the windup shaft do not occur in the window shade web, which would lead to obliquely extending waves in the extended window shade web.
Abstract: A compound needle (1) is provided with a slider (8) having two slider springs (11, 12), whose ends constitute an open funnel pointing toward the hook (3). The ends, or legs (21, 22), constituting the funnel, are flattened. Therefore, starting at a starting point, the thickness of the material is reduced in the tapered area (29) toward the ends of the slider springs (11, 12). By means of this a correct functioning of the compound needle is also provided if the slider (8) is not completely centered. Moreover, it is possible to improve the easy movement of the slider (8) in the slider slit in that the funnel, formed by the legs (21, 22), can be embodied to be narrower at a constant width, than without the taper of the slider springs (11, 12).
Abstract: A first laser beam is transmitted through the actuation of the gun trigger, the trajectory of the virtual projectile is calculated, and the deviations of the trajectory from the target direction at the firing time are determined. The first laser beam is pivoted corresponding to the trajectory deviations, and the transit time of the laser pulses of the first laser beam reflected by the target is measured, and used to determine the target range. For this target range, the trajectory of the fired virtual projectile is calculated, and compared to the time that has passed between the firing time and the reception of the reflected laser pulses. If the two match within a tolerance range, a second laser beam comprising encoded laser pulses is transmitted in the transmission direction of the first laser beam, which is received at the target, where the impact damage is calculated.
Abstract: The present invention has an object to improve the efficiency of collection of solidification constituents and solids in exhaust gas and to prevent early blockage of the filter without damaging the vacuum pump. In an exhaust path 48a, a vacuum pump and exhaust gas filtration device are provided. This exhaust gas filtration device is constituted by a trap device, pre-filter and filter. The pre-filter reduces the exhaust gas flow rate flowing through the interior of the exhaust path by controlling the exhaust gas flow path in the vessel. The aforesaid exhaust path is constituted by connecting this vacuum pump, trap device, pre-filter and filter which are arranged in this order from the side of airtight vessel and connected through piping if required.
Abstract: A method of coating an inner surface of a weapon barrel includes the following steps: directing a laser beam against the inner barrel surface to cause melting of regions thereof; introducing a coating material in one of powder, wire and ribbon form into the laser beam for melting the coating material to produce in the surface regions a molten bath composed of the molten coating material and a material of the weapon barrel; and moving the laser beam inside the weapon barrel axially thereof and relative thereto, whereby the molten substance of the bath becomes rigid as the laser beam moves away therefrom.

Abstract: A synchronization acquiring method capable of reducing the length of time required to perform in wireless communication a synchronization acquiring operation is provided when the mobile station transits from a sleep state to an active state. A synchronization acquiring apparatus capable of performing such a synchronization acquiring method is also provided. The method has the following three steps. In the first step, multiple correlation values are obtained between the input data supplied from a base station to the mobile station and multiple phases of a spreading code multiplied to the input data in the mobile station before the mobile station transits from the active state to the sleep state, multiple phases of the spreading code that correspond to the correlation values are determined, and the multiple phases are stored. In the second step, phases of the spreading code multiplied to the input data are determined using the phase when the mobile station transits from the sleep state to the active state.
