Abstract: A warhead (1) having a warhead casing (2) that encloses an explosive charge (5). To ensure that, during the detonation of the explosive charge (5), the warhead (1) effects a rapid acceleration of the fragments flying in the flight direction, and a lesser acceleration of the fragments flying away laterally from the warhead, and/or generates a relatively intense lateral pressure wave, the charge has at least two different partial charges (7, 8-10) corresponding to the intended use of the warhead (1). The first partial charge (7), which is disposed in the region of the tip of the warhead (1), and comprises, for example, octogen (HMX), possesses a high detonation speed in order, when detonated, to accelerate heavy-metal fragments (preferably WSM spherical fragments) disposed in front of the partial charge very rapidly forward. In contrast, the second partial charge (8-10), which adjoins the rear of the first partial charge (7), is a far less costly charge, e.g.

Abstract: A device for monitoring, sampling or delivering a substance to the skin of a patient includes a medical device and a stretching device for stretching the skin to enhance the contact by the medical device. The medical device generally includes at least a skin penetrating member, such as a cannula. The cannula can be a single needle or an array of microneedles. Abstract: A method of updating the system time of a data processor system that stores the actual system time which is linked to a subscriber station and a communication service of a communications network. The subscriber station of the data processor system communicates a message that contains the subscriber station's own address as the destination address. Upon receipt of this message, the time-related information of the message is parsed and transferred into a memory of the data processor system.
Abstract: A slot array antenna includes a feed waveguide plate, a radiating waveguide plate and a slot plate adhered or connected together. The feed waveguide plate is formed with a first feed port and a feed waveguide to which an electromagnetic wave is fed via the feed port. The radiating waveguide plate is formed with second feed ports communicated to the feed waveguide, and radiating waveguides communicated to the second feed ports. The slot plate is formed with slots for radiating electromagnetic waves fed via the radiating waveguides. The first feed port is positioned substantially at the center of the length of the feed waveguide. The slot array antenna allows a polarization direction of the antenna to be freely adjusted while minimizing a wasteful space otherwise allotted to peripheral circuits and is therefore miniaturized.
Abstract: An elongated bridge-like member which normally assumes an operative position in which it prevents access to a track for the advancement of finished or partly finished cigarette packs between two successive stations in a packing machine is designed to have its length reduced prior to being movable—without colliding with parts at the stations—from the operative position to an inoperative position in which the track and the cigarette packs in the track are accessible. To this end, the bridge-like member has two carriages each of which includes one of the two end portions of the fully extended bridge-like member; each carriage is movable toward the end portion forming part of the other carriage. A locking device must be disengaged in order to permit movement of the bridge-like member from the operative to the inoperative postion.
Abstract: A method for producing a roll from printed products in a winding operation includes winding the printed products with winding tape onto a winding core; driving a winding rug with a first drive, wherein the winding rug is arranged on the underside of the winding core and fitted against the winding core for rotating the winding core; driving a winding tape supply with a second drive, wherein the winding tape is unwound from the winding tape supply; and maintaining a predetermined tape tension during the winding operation. Maintaining the predetermined tape tension includes measuring speed and distance with measurement devices at the first and second drives to obtain measured values, computing the diameter of the winding tape supply with the measured values, and regulating a rotational moment with the computed diameter of the winding tape supply to maintain the tension.
Abstract: An apparatus for increasing the permeability of tubular wrappers of a succession of cigarettes by at least one pulsed beam of coherent radiation issuing from a laser has a hollow drum-shaped conveyor cooperating with a rolling member to define an arcuate channel wherein successive cigarettes roll while advancing sideways past a perforating station. Each beam of coherent radiation is generated in or is caused to enter the interior of the conveyor prior to being influenced by one or more deflecting and/or focussing elements to be propagated substantially radially and through an opening of the hollow conveyor and to impinge upon the wrapper of a cigarette rolling at the perforating station.
Abstract: An idling stop signal display apparatus is connected to traffic relating equipment for prompting a running automobile to stop. The idling stop signal display apparatus comprises display means for prompting an automobile driver to stop an engine and to restart the stopped engine, and control means, including said display apparatus, which prompts engine stop by determining a preferable period of time based on an input signal from the traffic relating equipment and functions to prompt the stopped engine to restart by determining a preferable timing.

Abstract: A door or window operator includes a motor-driven double-chain operator with two chain members in a substantially closed operator housing separately in engagement with a rotating drive member and joined in a back-to-back arrangement. The chain members include links having hinge parts with parallel rotational axes oriented transversely to the direction of propagation of the chain member for engagement with neighboring chain links in the same chain member and having a back surface provided with zip engagement members for engaging corresponding engagement members on the back surfaces of adjacent links in the other chain member for securing the chain members in the joined operator member against displacement transversely to the opening/closing direction. The chain members allow a mutual displacement between neighboring links in the direction of the rotational axes and the separate chain paths extend only in a part of the housing in a plane common with the outlet openings.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a positioning system for use in underwater/subsea hydrographic surveying and positioning applications The system comprises a submersible having a transponder formed and arranged for communication with a remote receiver. The transponder is formed and arranged to transmit a continuous water propagatable data signal, which signal includes a binary signal sequence, preferably a “gold code”, each of the transponder and the receiver being provided with an internal clock. The clock on the receiver and transponder are in substantial synchronisation. The remote receiver is provided with processing means for determining the position of the submersible by calculating the time taken for a signal to be transmitted by the transponder to be received by the remote receiver utilising the clock time of transmittal with respect to the clock time of reception at the remote receiver. Means for determining clock variation and resynchronising the clocks is described.
Abstract: In an image browser for browsing a deck of hyperspectral images, the images of the deck are divided into square blocks each containing 25 pixels. The images are browsed by selecting foci of attention in selected images in sequence. Each time a focus of attention is selected, the image block containing that focus of attention is read out and displayed. Then if no new focus of attention has been selected by moving the focus of attention in the selected image or by changing the selected image, the image blocks surrounding the focus of attention in the selected image are read out and displayed in a spiral pattern until a new focus of attention is selected whereupon the process of read out and display starts again from the new focus of attention.

Abstract: The invention relates to an offset regulation device for a sensor module and a method for realizing such an offset regulation, particularly for acceleration sensors and pressure sensors. The disadvantage of currently used offset regulation devices is that impermissible offset drifts or other errors are not recognized and are camouflaged by the offset regulation device. As a result, the measuring values can be distorted. The offset regulation device according to the invention comprises a monitoring device that is integrated into the offset regulation device and which recognizes and indicates such errors. This monitoring device comprises an analog or digital adder, which detects the deviation of the actual value from the desired value or values depending thereon. If the regulation takes too long because the deviation is too large and the offset is therefore not permissible, then a maximum or minimum value is reached during the adding up in the adder.
