  • Patent number: 7639729
Abstract: A low cost method and system for efficiently implementing channel estimation in a wireless communication system using any desired length of a fast Fourier transform (FFT) independent of burst type or signal structure. The hardware complexity required to perform the channel estimation to process a plurality of different burst types is reduced. Simple tail zero-padding is used when the length of FFT is extended to a desired length for more efficient computation.

  • Patent number: 7637450
Abstract: A fly-fishing reel is provided for rewinding a fishing line on a spool, whose movement is limited, in at least one sense, by a braking mechanism. The fly-fishing reel includes a self-supporting structure and a spool. The self-supporting structure includes a central axis which bears on it the braking mechanism, which includes a first lateral containing ring, a brake ring concentrically arranged within an adjustment track or ring, and a second lateral containing ring. The brake ring is a split ring defining a guide slot along which a braking adjustment member is displaced. The braking adjustment member expands or contracts the brake ring. A blocking member is also concentrically mounted on the adjustment track or ring, which is in turn arranged without a relative sliding among them within the spool.

  • Patent number: 7640362
Abstract: Compression efficiency is optimized by filtering protocol-specific header and control information of a protocol data unit (PDU) to determine compressibility of the contents of the protocol data unit. Based on the result of the filtering, the state of data link compression is selected for the protocol data unit in a manner optimizing compression efficiency. A filter performing the filtering may access a table having entries with specific media types deemed compression limited and associate individual PDUs to a specific media type. When associating the individual PDUs, the filter typically determines if a given PDU is associated with a previously filtered PDU and, if so, assigns the same state of data link compression for the given PDU as for the previously filtered PDU. The data link compression is disabled if the filter determines the compressibility of the contents of the PDU is determined to be low.

  • Patent number: 7636857
Abstract: A data processing system ciphers and transfers data between a first memory unit and a second memory unit, such as, for example, between a share memory architecture (SMA) static random access memory (SRAM) and a double data rate (DDR) synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM). The system includes a ciphering engine and a data-mover controller. • Patent number: 7636554
Abstract: A MIMO radio transceiver to support processing of multiple signals for simultaneous transmission via corresponding ones of a plurality of antennas and to support receive processing of multiple signals detected by corresponding ones of the plurality of antennas. The radio transceiver provides, on a single semiconductor integrated circuit, a receiver circuit or path for each of a plurality of antennas and a transmit circuit or path for each of the plurality of antennas. Each receiver circuit downconverts the RF signal detected by its associated antenna to a baseband signal. Similarly, each transmit path upconverts a baseband signal to be transmitted by an assigned antenna.

  • Patent number: 7631944
Abstract: A hub body for a bicycle wheel has a substantially tubular body extending along a longitudinal axis with a pair of opposite end portions, at least one of which has an annular front surface on which a plurality of housing seats for an end portion of respective spokes are formed. Advantageously, at least some of these seats comprise retention elements adapted to prevent said spokes from moving along a direction substantially parallel to said longitudinal axis in all operating conditions. The spoke is thus prevented from moving away from the hub in the case of untightening or breaking of a spoke during a race, which would compromise the correct operation of the wheel and/or constitute a danger to the cyclists.

  • Patent number: 7633242
Abstract: In a method of detecting arc discharge in a glow-discharge apparatus GD that has a high-frequency power source PS, a cutting pulse is output for time T1 to the high-frequency power source PS to stop a supply of power to the glow-discharge apparatus GD, when dVr/dt?dVf/dt increases over a first level, where Vf and Vr are a traveling-wave voltage and a reflected-wave voltage applied to the glow-discharge apparatus GD, respectively. Arc discharge is determined to have developed in the glow-discharge apparatus, when Vr/Vf increases to a second level or a higher level within a preset time To after the supply of power to the glow-discharge apparatus is stopped.

  • Patent number: 7631027
Abstract: An efficient, multichannel filter for CDMA modems permits multiple serial, digital bit streams to be filtered by digital signal processing techniques including sample weighting and summing functions. Each individual channel may have custom weighting coefficients or weighting coefficients common for all channels. If the weighting coefficients are by adaption, the same approach may be taken. The multichannel FIR filter is implemented with no multipliers and a reduction in the number of adders. To increase the speed of operation, the filter structure utilizes look-up tables storing the weighting coefficients. The invention can be embodied as either as a field programmable gate array or an application specific integrated circuit. The use of look-up tables saves significant chip resources.

  • Patent number: 7630688
Abstract: Multiple antenna elements of a WTRU are used to form an adaptive antenna beam pattern for receiving signals in the downlink direction. The WTRU utilizes the formed antenna beam to form a transmission antenna beam for transmitting signals in the uplink direction. In an alternate embodiment, the multiple antenna elements are used to form a plurality of fixed, predetermined antenna beams. The WTRU then selects and switches to the one of the predetermined beams that yields the best downlink reception signals. The WTRU utilizes the selected beam pattern to transmit signals in the uplink direction. In an alternate embodiment, the WTRU receives spectral arrangement information and utilizing this information to avoid transmitting in the direction of spectrally adjacent WTRUs.

  • Patent number: 7630690
Abstract: A Node-B/base station has an access burst detector. The access burst detector comprises at least one antenna for receiving signals from users and a pool of reconfigurable correlators. Each correlator correlates an inputted access burst code at an inputted code phase with an inputted antenna output. An antenna controller selectively couples any output of the at least one antenna to an input of any of the correlators. A code controller provides to an input of each correlator an access burst code. The code controller controls the inputted code phase of each controller. A sorter/post processor sorts output energy levels of the correlators.
