Abstract: An encrypted stream of video information (20) contains first video frames (22) and second video frames which are accessible and not accessible during trick play respectively. From a source stream encrypted that is for decryption with repeatedly changing control words sections of the stream are identified where respective first ones of the frames occur in the stream. Control words for decryption (24) are included in the stream. At least part of the control words are included in the stream at positions selected synchronized to the identified sections.

Abstract: An image pickup device disposed in a predetermined position relative to a surface of a strained silicon wafer photographs the surface of the strained silicon wafer in a plurality of rotation angle positions on photographing conditions under which bright lines appearing on the surface of the strained silicon wafer can be photographed, in an environment where a light source device illuminates the surface of the strained silicon wafer which is rotating. A composite image in a predetermined angle position is generated from surface images of the strained silicon wafer in a plurality of rotation angle positions obtained by the image pickup device.
Abstract: The present invention is a board game. In a preferred embodiment, a competitive board game for two to nine players is disclosed. The game board is initialized by placing markers on the game board in a specified fashion. Distinct markers are distributed, and play progresses in turn by each player placing a marker on the game board such that each row, column, and box does not contain two identical markers. In an alternative embodiment, a board game for team play is disclosed. The board game may also be implemented in a computer or other electronic device.
Abstract: A method of using a mobile unit in a multi-cell communication system to determine whether to commence handover of the mobile unit from a serving base station located in a first cell of the communication system to a target base station located in a second cell of the communication system. The mobile unit determines the serving base station received signal code power (RSCPser), the first cell interference signal code power (ISCPser), the target base station received signal code power (RSCPtar) and the second cell interference signal code power (ISCPtar). If the ratio RSCPser/ISCPser is less than the ratio RSCPtar/ISCPtar, the mobile unit commences handover to the target base station. The multi-cell communication system may be a time division duplex (TDD) system. The mobile unit may send a message to a radio network controller (RNC) in communication with the serving and target base stations to initiate the handover.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing power during discontinuous reception (DRX) mode are disclosed. A DRX mode is defined for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) for reducing power consumption of the WTRU. During the DRX mode, the WTRU enters into a sleep state and periodically wakes up for processing paging blocks for detecting a paging indication for the WTRU and a corresponding paging message. If the WTRU is paged the WTRU terminates the DRX mode. If the WTRU is not paged, the WTRU reenters the sleep state. For power management during the DRX mode, a synchronization update period is defined. The synchronization update period is a period for performing automatic frequency correction and/or frame time correction.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing inserts, such as lift inserts and step inserts, in cast members. The inserts have breakaway tabs mounted in receiving slots in either a reusable holder or disk-shaped member. The assembled insert and holder are inserted through a collar on the outer jacket of a mold assembly and a locking pin passes through cooperating openings in the holder and collar to retain the lift insert/holder in place during the casting operation. The disk-shaped member is fixed to a jacket of the mold assembly. The breakaway tabs break away from the insert when the cast member is separated from the mold assembly, the breakaway tabs being discarded and the holder (disk-shaped member) being reusable many times for subsequent casting operations. The slots, in one embodiment, have a locking shoulder to lock the tabs in their slots. In another embodiment, a cam surface on the tabs lock the tabs in the slots.

Abstract: A method and system for determining amplitude and phase compensation values used to adjust the amplitude and phase characteristics of real and imaginary signal components of complex signals processed by an analog radio transmitter. Abstract: A physical automatic repeat request method implemented by a base station having a transmitter and a receiver. A physical layer, at the transmitter receives data and formats the received data into packets having a particular encoding/data modulation. The physical layer transmit the packets and retransmits packets upon failure to receive a corresponding acknowledgment for a given packet. An adaptive modulation and coding controller in the transmitter collects retransmission statistics and adjusts the particular encoding/data modulations using the collected statistics.
Abstract: A plurality of communication bursts are used to communicate data in a shared spectrum in a time slot of a time division duplex communication system. Each burst has an associated midamble sequence of a set of known sequences. A wireless communication apparatus has a receiver component configured to receive the plurality of communication bursts and to define a received vector corresponding to the received bursts. A channel estimator is provided that is configured to estimate channel information of the plurality of communication bursts by constructing a block matrix having a plurality of identical right circulant matrix blocks using the known midamble sequences and the received vector. A data detector then recovers data from the received communication bursts using the estimated wireless channel information.
Abstract: A lead free solder is provided. The lead free solder includes about 1.5 wt % to about 2.5 wt % silver (Ag), about 3 wt % to about 6 wt % bismuth (Bi), about 0.005 wt % to about 0.1 wt % of a deoxidizing agent, and a balance of tin (Sn). The lead free solder has improved wettability, a lowered melting point, little or substantially no formation of oxidation layer in a solder bath, suppressed brittleness, improved thermal shock resistance and drop resistance.

Abstract: A motorbike whose driving force is enhanced and whose wheels are prevented from slipping is disclosed. Abstract: In a wireless communication network having a plurality of devices operating at different data rates that contend for access to the network, a method is provided that assigns network access parameters to one or more of the devices so as to control throughput on the network. Examples of network access control parameters are the maximum data packet size and the contention window size. Generally, the network access control parameter for slower data rate users is configured so that they do not occupy the network a disproportionate amount of time compared to faster data rate users.

Abstract: In an image recording apparatus according to this invention, an image recording media which has an image data recording area and an image data management area for managing the recording state of image data in the image data recording area and cannot be overwritten is applied, and an image data unerased area of the recording media is detected by an unerased area detection circuit when a recording mode is set by a recording mode setting REC switch, so that the image data in the detected unerased area is substantially erased by a CPU. In this state, the CPU waits for the start of an image recording operation by operating a recording trigger switch. According to this apparatus, a high-speed recording operation can be performed without missing a chance of recording even if a recording media which cannot be overwritten is applied as an image information recording media.
