  • Patent number: 7613226
Abstract: Data is transferred in a wireless communication system, such as a wireless spread spectrum communication system. A plurality of transmitting antennas are provided. Data is encoded to produce a plurality of data streams for each of the plurality of codes. The plurality of data streams are spread with the plurality of spreading codes, and for each transmitting antenna, one of the spread data streams of each code together is combined to produce a spread data vector. Each transmitting antenna transmits its spread data vector. The transmitted spread data vectors are received by each of a plurality of receiving antennas as a received version, and the data is recovered using the received versions.

  • Patent number: 7613227
Abstract: A single, common correlation filter (CF) core is provided in a receiver for recovery of data from received code division multiple access (CDMA) signals. Signals are received over CDMA channels with different data rates, where the received signals include user information such as pilot and data symbols that have been spread according to different despreading rates including tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 rates, where tier 1 is the smallest despreading rate. The received signal is correlated at the smallest despreading rate in the correlation filter (CF) by time multiplexing delayed versions of the pseudorandom noise (PN) code. The correlated information is then demultiplexed and pilot-aided QPSK demodulated. The demodulated information is summed at the proper integer multiple of the tier 1 rate to achieve tier 2 and tier 3 despreading rates. According to an embodiment, the three strongest multipaths components in terms of the received power are selected in a window or time period for optimal information recovery.

  • Patent number: 7613159
Abstract: A transmission power level of a selected user is estimated in a code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system. An initial estimate of a transmit power level associated with the selected user is determined. A transmit power level of users of the system other than the selected user is provided. Subsequent estimates for the selected user and the other users are estimated using previous transmit power level estimates of the selected user and the other users. The estimating subsequent estimates is repeated with a last repetition's estimated transmit power levels for the selected and other users being the estimated transmit power levels of the selected and other users.

  • Patent number: 7610886
Abstract: A force transmitting device (4) for a valve drive (1) of an internal combustion engine (2) with a hydraulic valve lash compensating device (6) is provided. The force transmitting device (4) has a hollow cylindrical compensating piston (13), which on one end defines a working chamber (35) of the valve lash compensating device (6) and on the other end encloses an internal hydraulic medium reservoir (15) used to supply the working chamber (35). This is connected to a hydraulic medium supply (16) of the internal combustion engine (2) and is protected from a return flow of hydraulic medium in the direction of the hydraulic medium supply (16) by means of a valve plate (26), which can be pressurized and which can move axially, in that the valve plate (26) interacts in a sealing way with an axial annular surface (28) of the compensating piston (13) for a non-pressurized hydraulic medium supply (16).

  • Patent number: 7613119
Abstract: In a wireless local area network including an access controller (AC) and an access points (AP), the AC transmits a functionality inquiry to the AP. Upon receiving the inquiry, the AP transmits a query response including the functional capabilities of the AP. The AC then generates a map of the functional capabilities present in the network based on the inquiry response. Conflicting or redundant functional capabilities are identified and are disabled, enabled, or reconfigured by instructions from the AC. The AC may selectively enable and/or disable functional capabilities at nodes in the network to provide a more balanced load on the network, and to provide for load sharing by allocating functionalities between and among network nodes having common functional capabilities to satisfy a variety of situations encountered in the network.

  • Patent number: 7609785
Abstract: A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) provides facilitation of cell search. In one embodiment, received samples are split into a plurality of sample sets for processing. Each of the sets is processed and an accumulated result is divided by an estimated noise value. In another embodiment, a code correlator correlates the received signal with a primary synchronization code and an auxiliary code correlator having a same length as the code correlator correlates the received signal with a code having a low cross correlation with the primary synchronization code. In another embodiment, a division of an accumulated result with a noise estimate is performed using indexes of the most significant bits.

  • Patent number: 7609790
Abstract: A receiver is capable of demodulating both high data rate and low data rate transmissions. An antenna receives the high and low data rate transmissions, as a received signal. An interference canceling device cancels a contribution of at least one shared/common channel from the received signal, producing a first interference canceled signal. A first data detector for detecting data of one of the high or low data rate transmissions by processing the first interference canceled signal. An interference canceling device for canceling the detected data of the one transmissions from the first interference canceled signal, producing a second interference canceled signal. A second data detector for detecting data of an other of the high or low data rate transmissions from the second interference canceled signal.

  • Patent number: 7610059
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed wherein timeslots designated in a wireless communication system as Common Physical Channel (CPCH) timeslots may be reused for user traffic. A CPCH timeslot used in a first cell may be reused by a second cell, assuming the first and second cells transmit control information in different CPCH timeslots, for user traffic. The second cell is permitted to reuse the timeslot in which the first cell is transmitting control information so long as the second cell's reuse of that timeslot does not degrade reception of control information in the first cell.

  • Patent number: 7609794
Abstract: Data estimation is performed in a wireless communication system using both oversampling and multiple reception antennas. A receive vector is produced for each antenna at a sampling interval which is a multiple of the chip rate of the received signal. A channel response matrix is produced for each antenna at a preferred multiple of the sampling rate. Each receive vector is processed using a sliding window based approach, where a plurality of successive windows are processed. For each window, a combined circulant channel response matrix is produced using the channel response matrices. Using the combined circulant channel response matrix and a combined received vector comprising each received vector in a discrete Fourier transform based approach to estimate a data vector corresponding to that window; and combining the data vector estimated in each window to form a combined data vector.
