  • Patent number: 7454214
Abstract: A wireless communication method and system for optimizing channel selection for an AP. The channel selection optimization process includes four sub-processes: 1) a measurement process; 2) a candidate channel determining process; 3) a channel selection process; and 4) a channel update process. Candidate channels used for supporting communication performed by the AP are determined. The candidate channels are chosen from an allowable channel set (ACS) if a detected interference of each candidate channel is less than an established maximum allowed interference.

  • Patent number: 7453862
Abstract: In a wireless communication system using a reference channel used for error rate measurement and associated with a plurality of transport channels multiplexed on a coded composite transport channel (CCTrCH), a method is employed for reselection of the reference channel from favorable candidate transport channels. A channel is initially selected from the plurality of multiplexed channels as the reference channel. Channels are monitored based on quantitative data content criteria to determine whether an ON or OFF state exists. A different channel is selected from the plurality of multiplexed channels as the reselected RTrCH when a better candidate transport channel in the ON state becomes available, or when the monitored RTrCH reflects an OFF state.

  • Patent number: 7448336
Abstract: A drive arrangement for the drive elements for the threading of the upper thread into the eye of a sewing machine needle is provided. Instead of individual drives for lowering the threading device and rotating it as well as threading the thread regulator to deflect the upper thread around the thread brake, drives not used at that time for the needle rod, the presser foot pressure, and the thread brake are utilized. In this way, two to three additional electric drives can be omitted and thus the controlling expense can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7448704
Abstract: A guide rail assembly is provided with a sliding movement synchronizing member. The assembly includes a fixed guide mounted on a support part, an intermediate rail slidable relative to the fixed guide and an outer pull out channel slidable on the intermediate rail. A rail protrusion is provided on either the fixed guide upper surface or the pull out channel bottom surface. The synchronizing member pivotally mounted on the intermediate rail includes first and second arms that extend in opposing directions from a central portion that contains the pivot point. Each of the arms has a roller that enables the member to travel along either the pull out channel bottom surface or the fixed guide upper surface. Its central portion interacts with the rail protrusion so as to interchangeably lock the intermediate rail with the pull out channel and with the fixed guide, during opening or closing of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 7450905
Abstract: A method for reducing cross cell interference in a wireless time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access, the system having at least one user equipment (UE) and a base station (BS) is disclosed. The method begins by measuring an interference level of each timeslot at the BS. A timeslot is eliminated for additional uplink communication if the measured interference level exceeds a first threshold. An interference level of each timeslot is measured at the UE, and the timeslot is eliminated for downlink communication for the UE if the measured interference level exceeds a second threshold. UEs in nearby cells that are large interferers are identified and their downlink timeslot usage is gathered. A timeslot is eliminated for uplink communication for a large interferer UE that uses the timeslot for downlink communication.

  • Patent number: 7450904
Abstract: A method for changing a channel in a wireless local area network (WLAN) to alleviate congestion and high interference levels, the WLAN having an access point (AP) and at least one station, begins by determining a list of candidate channels. A channel is selected from the candidate list and is evaluated against predetermined criteria. If the selected channel meets the predetermined criteria, then all of the stations communicating with the AP are disassociated and the AP is changed to the selected channel. If the selected channel does not meet the predetermined criteria, then the selected channel is removed from the candidate list and the selecting step is repeated if there are additional candidate channels.

  • Patent number: 7445002
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a ball feed mechanism for use in a paintball loader. The ball feed mechanism includes a feeder which conveys or impels balls toward a feed neck, and a drive member which is concentric with the feeder. The feeder is coupled to the drive member through a spring. The spring is configured to store potential energy which is used to rotate the feeder and, thus, drive the balls toward the feed neck. An electric motor is used to rotate the drive member to wind the spring. The feed mechanism includes sensors which detect the motion of the feeder and the drive member. A controller determines the spring tension based on the relative motion of the feeder and drive member, and actuates a motor when necessary.

  • Patent number: 7447519
Abstract: A multi-mode wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes at least one antenna, first and second communication mode receivers and a first communication mode transmitter. The first and second receivers simultaneously receive signals from the antenna. The first transmitter generates and sends a first type of signal to the antenna while, at the same time, the second receiver receives a second type of signal from the antenna. In a preferred embodiment, the WTRU further includes a vector multiplier configured to reduce or eliminate interference of signals received by the second receiver, the interference being caused by the first transmitter. The vector multiplier adjusts the phase and amplitude of noise (i.e., spurious in-band noise) measured by the second receiver. The WTRU may further include a second communication mode transmitter configured to generate and send a second type of signal to the antenna.

  • Patent number: 7447517
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed wherein timeslots designated in a wireless communication system as Common Physical Channel (CPCH) timeslots may be reused for user traffic. A CPCH timeslot used in a first cell may be reused by a second cell, assuming the first and second cells transmit control information in different CPCH timeslots, for user traffic. The second cell is permitted to reuse the timeslot in which the first cell is transmitting control information so long as the second cell's reuse of that timeslot does not degrade reception of control information in the first cell.

  • Patent number: 7447187
Abstract: A technique for encoding digital communication signals. Data symbols are augmented in pilot symbols inserted at predetermined positions. The pilot augmented sequence is then fed to a deterministic error correction block encoder, such as a turbo product coder, to output a coded sequence. The symbols in the error correction encoded sequence are then rearranged to ensure that the output symbols derived from input pilot symbols are located at regular, predetermined positions. As a result, channel encoding schemes can more easily be used which benefits from power of two length block sizes.

  • Patent number: 7443513
Abstract: An apparatus for optical measurement of an object, especially for measuring movement, is provided, which includes an interferometer for measuring movements along the measurement beam of the interferometer, as well as a confocal auto-focus microscope. The interferometer is coupled in the beam path of the confocal auto-focus microscope, such that the measurement beam of the interferometer is simultaneously the focusing beam of the microscope. Here, it is guaranteed that the interferometric movement measurement is always performed at the focal point of the microscope that is used. This enables automatic correction of the Guoy effect for objectives with high numerical aperture. In addition, for the use of a scanning confocal auto-focus microscope, data sets of test objects can also be measured, which comprise their vibrational behavior, height profile, and optionally also their in-plane movement behavior.
