Abstract: A system and method in accordance with the present invention reduce the amount of data that is stalled in a source Node B after a serving HS-DSCH cell change in a communication system that includes a serving RNC and at least one Node B. In a first embodiment, the RNC temporarily suspends data transmissions from the RNC to the Node B. In a second embodiment, the activation time is used in data scheduling. In a third embodiment, a more robust MCS level is selected. In a fourth embodiment flow control is employed for the data transmitted between the RNC and the Node B.
Abstract: A method for determining whether a connection event between a base station and a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) should be accepted or rejected, comprises measuring the interference level I0 in a candidate timeslot; measuring the path loss L between the base station and the WTRU; measuring the total transmit power P0 of the base station; determining a thermal noise level ?, determining a fading average signal-to-interference ratio (SIR); and calculating a ratio R, wherein if the ratio R is above a certain threshold the connection event will be accepted and if the call is below the threshold it will be rejected.
Abstract: A rail used as a torsional stop for the valve train of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The rail includes spaces (10) which are arranged in a row spaced apart at a distance from one another within the rail (8) and accommodate inserted valve lifters provided as roller tappets (9). Two parallel torsional stop areas (15) are configured on the outer surface of each roller tappet (9) in the form of planar flattened zones in order to secure the roller tappet (9) against rotation about the central longitudinal axis thereof. The torsional stop areas (15) rest against guide areas of the rail (8), which are located inside the associated accommodating space (10).
Abstract: The proposed soft-switching DC/DC converter includes a converter circuit including a main switch having a first, a second and a control terminals for converting an input DC voltage to an output DC voltage, a resonant circuit electrically connected to the converter circuit, and an energy transferring circuit including an auxiliary switch having a first, a second and a control terminals and magnetically coupled to the resonant circuit. In which, the main switch is turned on under a specific voltage across the first and the second terminals of the main switch and the auxiliary switch is turned off under a specific current flowing through the first and the second terminals of the auxiliary switch both controlled by the resonant circuit through a resonance effect so as to accomplish a soft-switching of the converter.

Abstract: A driving device in a lens barrel unit of a lens unit drives advancing/retreating of a lens frame holding a lens, and manual focusing. The lens frame is supported freely movably back and forth by an internal driving ring turned and driven when automatic focusing. The internal driving ring is supported by a distance ring so as to be turned and driven via an external driving ring supported turnably by a fixing frame. An operating ring is fixed on the perimeter of the distance ring, and manual focusing driving is performed by turning the operating ring. A transducer of an ultrasonic actuator is pressed against the end face of the distance ring via a driver, frictional contact force between the distance ring and the driver is adjusted by applying flexion standing wave vibration to the transducer, and the amount of turning operating force of the operating ring can be increased/decreased over a wide range.

Abstract: A system and method which permit the RNC to control purging of data buffered in the Node B. The RNC monitors for a triggering event, which initiates the purging process. The RNC then informs the Node B of the need to purge data by transmitting a purge command, which prompts the Node B to delete at least a portion of buffered data. The purge command can include instructions for the Node B to purge all data for a particular UE, data in one or several user priority transmission queues or in one or more logical channels in the Node B, depending upon the particular data purge triggering event realized in the RNC.

Abstract: A method for scheduling RRM procedures in a wireless communication system begins by receiving at least one trigger, each trigger being associated with at least one RRM procedure. A radio link is placed into a busy state, whereby the radio link is accessible only by a currently executing RRM procedure. The RRM procedure is performed on the radio link, and a set of predicted measurements is prepared for use by the other RRM procedures. The radio link is placed into an idle state, whereby the radio link is accessible by any RRM procedure.

Abstract: A series resonant circuit device and a voltage stabilizing method thereof are provided. Abstract: The invention relates to a device for feeding ball-like ammunition, so-called paint balls, into the projectile chamber of a sporting arm. The magazine is arranged separately from the arm and is connected to same by means of a feeder tube. A motor-driven feeder feeds the balls from the ball container into the feeder tube. In so doing, a spring element stores the traction from the motor, so that, even when the motor stops, balls can still be transported using the energy stored in the spring element. The traction from the motor is transmitted via a connection or clutch consisting of a spring element and a transmission element. Protrusions are arranged on both the spring element and the transmission element, which come to bear on each other for transmitting traction. The protrusions are at least partially flexible, so that the transmitted force is limited. This way, explosion of the balls from excessive pressure is prevented.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing transient impacts of beam switching in a switched beam antenna system are disclosed, a switch beam antenna system generates a plurality of beams in a predefined beam pattern and switches the current beam position to one of the plurality of predefined beams in accordance with measurement results for each of the beams, quality of signals is periodically measured for each of the plurality of predefined beams, and the best beam is determined, the current beam is switched to either the best beam or an intermediate beam in accordance with the separation between the best beam and the current beam.

Abstract: A wireless communication system is configured to monitor transmission sequence numbers (TSNs) assigned to protocol data units (PDUs) processed by the system. The system includes at least one user equipment (UE) having, a queue, and a Node B in communication with the UE. The UE determines that a data block having an expected TSN was not received, and generates a TSN status report message. The Node B retransmits a data block including the expected TSN to the UE in response to the TSN status report message. Abstract: Double layer forming fabrics, woven to an overall repeating weave pattern requiring at least 8 sheds in the loom, provide a low drainage area in a notional center plane between the paper and machine side layers, to resist and retard initial impingement drainage. Transverse binder yarn pairs follow a single combined path interweaving with paper side layer and machine side layer yarns, with long internal floats under at least four paper side layer yarns between exchange points and interlacing points in the machine side layer. The members of the pairs are laterally displaced in relation to each other along the single combined path. The fabric has a total warp fill after heatsetting of at least 100%. The drainage areas of the paper side layer and the machine side layers are between 25% and 50%, and the center plane drainage area is between 8% and 20%.

Abstract: A wireless communication method and antenna system for determining the direction of arrival (DOA) of received signals in azimuth and elevation, (i.e., in three dimensions), to form a beam for transmitting and receiving signals. The system includes two antenna arrays, each having a plurality of antenna elements, two first stage multi-mode-port matrices, at least one second stage multi-mode-port matrix, an azimuth phase detector, an elevation amplitude detector, a plurality of phase shifters and a transceiver. The antenna arrays and the first stage multi-mode-port matrices form a plurality of orthogonal omni-directional modes. Each of the modes has a characteristic phase set. Two of the modes' phases are used to determine DOA in azimuth. The second stage multi-mode-port matrix forms a sum-mode and a difference-mode used to determine the DOA of the received signals in elevation. A beam is formed in the direction of the received signals by adjusting the phase shifters.

Abstract: A criterion for biasing a binary decision requiring an unequal protection which utilizes a measured signal to interference ratio (SIR). Abstract: A sliding window based data estimation is performed. An error is introduced in the data estimation due to the communication model modeling the relationship between the transmitted and received signals. To compensate for an error in the estimated data, the data that was estimated in a previous sliding window step or terms that would otherwise be truncated as noise are used.
