  • Patent number: 5719906
Abstract: A signal generating apparatus generates four sets of signals whose rising timing and falling timing are controlled. One signal among the four signals is produced by employing a first sequence control unit, a first coincidence detecting unit, a second coincidence detecting unit, and a first output controlling unit. A timer increments a count value in response to a timer increment signal to produce a timer output value. The first sequence controlling unit produces two correction values obtained by correcting the timer output value inputted from the timer. The first coincidence detecting unit outputs a coincidence detection pulse when the correction value inputted from the first sequence control unit is coincident with the internally set set value. The second coincidence detecting unit outputs another coincidence detection pulse when the correction value inputted from the first sequence control unit is coincident with the internally set set value.

  • Patent number: 5718235
Abstract: The duration of Time Intervals, preferably 101, in an electrocardiogram, or pulses are recorded. The Mode, ?Mo!, or the duration most often recorded, the Median, ?M!, of all durations recorded, the Amplitude of the Mode, ?AMo!, expressed as a percentage of the most frequently recorded Modes, and the difference in duration between the longest and the shortest duration recorded, Delta X, ?DX!, are determined and consolidated into one or more Cluster Modes, ?CMo!, comprised of three Modes each, establishes a user's baseline. If any of the 9 formulas derived from these functions differs by a predetermined percentage and time duration from the user's baseline, then the user's stress has reached an ALARM level. The apparatus make take the form of a chest strap on which are mounted electrocardiogram electrodes, which transmits Time Intervals to a wrist watch like device where the calculations are performed and the results displayed.

  • Patent number: 5719954
Abstract: A method for measuring stereo image disparity between right and left stereo images for each of two-dimensional blocks having a rectangular shape. In particular, the method includes the steps of deciding a level of each pixel in the right and left stereo images according to a ternary value, sequentially setting a one-dimensional window having a size of N pixels along a horizontal direction in one of the right and left stereo images by overlapping N/2 pixels, determining the disparity for each one-dimensional window by determining a portion in the other of the right and left stereo images corresponding to each one-dimensional window on the basis of the ternary value obtained through the deciding step to generate a histogram of the disparities, and determining the stereo image disparity for each of the two-dimensional blocks on the basis of the histogram of the disparities.
