  • Patent number: 4597126
Abstract: A machine for cleaning a plurality of floor maintenance pads by rotation and agitation in a tank of cleaning solvent. The pads are loaded onto a drive axle with gripper rings placed therebetween. After rotation in a solvent, the pads rotate against an agitator bar frame which contacts with both sides of the pads simultaneously. Preferably, the solvent drained from the tank can be returned to a container for reuse or discharged depending upon its level of contamination. Most preferably, the cleaning machine and the container of cleaning solvent are positioned together on a movable support stand.

  • Patent number: 4590022
Abstract: A moisture vapor permeable sheet material is comprised of a homogeneous admixture of a synthetic polymer material and a protein derivative. The sheet material is moisture vapor permeable and non-penetrable by liquid water. The sheet material additionally can have coated thereon a pressure sensitive adhesive which is comprised of a synthetic organic polymer adhesive and a soluble protein derivative in solid solution. Sheet material is formed by providing a homogeneous fluid solution of a soluble protein derivative and a synthetic organic polymer in a solvent. The protein derivative has a pH level compatible with the pH level of the organic polymer. Film is formed from the homogeneous fluid solution and the solvent is removed from the film to form the sheet material which is moisture vapor permeable. When the sheet material includes an adhesive, the adhesive is coated as a fluid solution in a solvent on one side of the sheet material.

  • Patent number: 4588889
Abstract: A process of obtaining spectra of daughter ions which are produced by collision of sample ions with neutral molecules for dissociating the sample ions in a collision chamber disposed in an ion path to thereby provide a structural analysis of organic compounds. To carry out this process, a mass spectrometer is used which has mass spectrometric units located before and after the collision chamber. The spectrometric unit located behind the chamber has superimposed magnetic field B and electric field E perpendicular to the magnetic field. Daughter ions having a mass m.sub.x produced from parent ions having a mass m.sub.0 inside the chamber are detected and measured by sweeping the voltage Vd.sub.x for producing the electric field or the intensity B.sub.x of the magnetic field singly or sweeping both in an interrelated manner so as to satisfy the relation ##EQU1## where V.sub.00 is the voltage for producing the electric field used to detect the parent ions having infinitely large masses, B.sub.

  • Patent number: 4587431
Abstract: A tilt stage that tilts about Y axis perpendicular to the optical axis of an electron beam which is called "the Z axis" herein is mounted to the front cover of a specimen chamber. A Z-axis stage capable of moving in the direction of Z axis and an X-axis stage capable of moving in the direction of X axis perpendicular to Y and Z axes are mounted on the tilt stage. A specimen holder for holding a specimen can be located at any desired position relative to the electron beam by the movements of these stages. Two driving shafts are disposed concentrically about the Y axis, i.e., their common axis. Driving mechanisms for independently driving the driving shafts along the Y axis are mounted to the front cover of the specimen chamber. The movements of the driving shafts are transmitted to the Z-axis stage and the X-axis stage via two levers whose pivots are supported on the tilt stage.

  • Patent number: 4585942
Abstract: A transmission electron microscope having objective lens comprising upper, middle and lower magnetic pole pieces installed inside a yoke enveloping the first and second excitation coils. The polarity of the first magnetic field between the upper and middle magnetic pole piece is changed according to the selection of the two observation modes for an electron microscope image and for a converged beam diffraction pattern. However, the position of a specimen located at the midst of the second magnetic field between the middle and lower magnetic pole pieces is fixed during said two operation modes, so that analysis for a crystalline material of a very small area in the specimen is carried out by easy operation.

  • Patent number: 4580328
Abstract: The invention relates to a can-type housing made of metal, as a semi-finished product, such as is used, for example, for electrolytic capacitors. Furthermore, the invention relates to a process and a device for reducing the diameter of and flanging such a can-type housing. In the conventional way, the diameter of a can-type housing of this type was reduced from below in the direction of the upper open can edge. As a rule, flanging is carried out by a separate device. The invention improves the conventional measures by rewidening under dry conditions the can-type housing pre-widened under wet conditions. According to the process, the can-type housing provided with the housing widening is then closed from the can edge axially downwards so as to reduce its diameter, this process step being supplemented, in addition, by a further flanging step carried out in the same device.

  • Patent number: 4574697
Abstract: A sheet material for mounting flexible printing plates to the drum of a printing press includes a base film, a flexible foam uniformly coated on the base film, and a pressure sensitive adhesive coated on both the base film and the foam. The cohesion of the base film and the foam, the adhesion of the base film to the foam, and the adhesion of the adhesive to the base film and the foam is greater than the adhesion of the adhesive to the flexible printing plate and to the drum of a printing press. When the sheet material is removed from the printing plate and the drum, the foam, the base film, and the adhesive remain an integral sheet. A method for preparing and using the sheet material is also disclosed.
