  • Patent number: 4966182
Abstract: An apparatus for de-gelling a liquid mixture in accordance with the present invention includes a device interposed in the flow of the solution for agitating the solution, the agitation sufficient to substantially de-gel the solution. The device for agitating may include a valve which has a chattering motion on opening and closing to agitate the solution; a bead chamber containing closely packed beads through which the solution must pass to reach an outlet, or both the valve and bead chamber.

  • Patent number: 4960008
Abstract: The new automatic-manual transmission system includes all of the components of a standard transmission including a conventional gearshift lever and a clutch pedal. In addition, the system includes a gearshift position-selection panel is located apart from the gearshift lever. The panel enables the driver to select the desired gear position of the gearshift lever by manipulating the panel without the necessity of handling the gearshift lever. Also, included is a controller which transforms the driver's gearshift selection to an output signal which corresponds to the gearshift position selected by the driver. The system also includes a linkage means for mechanically repositioning the gearshift lever automatically in accordance with the output signal. The linkage includes two motors, two driving links each pivotally engaged with the motor, a coupler attached to one of the driving links, and a gripper link which is secured to the gearshift lever.

  • Patent number: 4953633
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a cylindrical vessel provided at one end with an inlet and at the other end with an outlet for the mixture. A conveyor mechanism acting selectively on the solid pieces in the mixture is disposed in the vessel. The conveyor mechanism has a rotor in the form of a shaft coaxially rotatable in the vessel and provided with at least one series of rotor arms on the shaft, extending radially and lying substantially next to one another and spaced apart in the axial direction. The conveyor mechanism also has a stator in the form of at least one series of stator arms extending radially inwards from the wall of the vessel and lying substantially next to one another and spaced apart in the axial direction. The stator arms extend between the rotor arms and reach to a point close to the rotor shaft. The mutual distance between the rotor arms and the mutual distance between the stator arms, in the axial direction, varies from the inlet to the outlet, the variation occurring mainly in one direction.

  • Patent number: 4950100
Abstract: An articulated arm for supportably attaching a movable first body to a second body comprises a connector bar which fits inside a substantially hollow sheath, each of the connector bar and sheaths being pivotally attached to a first intermediate member at a first end thereof and to a second intermediate member at a second end thereof. Fasteners are provided to temporarily and disengagably fix the position of the connector bar with respect to the sheath. Hardware is described for attaching the first intermediate member to a movable first body and for attaching the second intermediate member to a second body which is substantially stationary with respect to the first body.

  • Patent number: 4944608
Abstract: A roller-type linear guide includes a slider having side walls and mounted on a guide rail. The slider is provided with a pair of upper slider support members and a pair of lower slider support members, respectively, protruding obliquely from the inner surfaces of side walls thereof towards V-shaped track grooves formed in opposite sides of the guide rail. Each of the upper and lower slider support members includes a roller supported rotatably on the tip of a support shaft, and an eccentric bushing is fitted around the support shaft integrally therewith. The support shaft with the eccentric bushing fitted thereon is inserted into a fixing through hole which penetrates the side wall, obliquely, so that the roller is eccentrically supported with respect to the axial line of the fixing hole. The roller abuts against the surface of the V-shaped track groove of the guide rail with a preload to absorb looseness between the slider and the guide rail.

  • Patent number: 4942924
Abstract: A liner setting assembly is useful in setting a liner into a casing string secured in a borehole of a well. The liner setting assembly includes a cone and a cage. The cone enables slidably fitting over the liner, the cone having grips with an oblique notched face forming an engaging surface. The cage receives the cone and includes a second set of grips having oblique notched faces. The cone and cage assembly is secured to the casing string by the grips. Since the cone has a sliding fit in relation to the liner, the operator can reciprocate and rotate the liner even after the cage and cone assembly has been securely engaged with the casing string in the borehole, thereby enabling a positive indication of the correct set position prior to the cement bonding of the liner to the wall of the well.

  • Patent number: 4938496
Abstract: The present invention is a ball hitch connector for use with a conventional ball hitch socket. The ball hitch connector includes a spherical body having a polygonally shaped bore to receive a generally cylindrical stud, where the upper section of the stud has a polygonal shape complimentary to the bore of the spherical body. The stud attaches to a generally conical collar, by means of a latch pin through two bored holes, one located in the lower section of the stud and one located in the base of the collar. The stud and attached collar are insertable within a base plate. The base of the collar is polygonal in shape. The base plate is a ring which has an inner cavity of corresponding shape to the collar. The collar and attached stud are held in place by means of the complimentary configured base plate cavity. The stud is secured to the base plate by a fastening means such as a nut and washer.

  • Patent number: 4938518
Abstract: The invention serves as a thermal barrier between the passenger compartment and the cargo area of a vehicle to be used to transport cargo, enabling elongated objects to be stored along the entire internal length of the vehicle, while at the same time enabling the driver of the vehicle to have a clear and unobstructed view of the rear window of the vehicle. The assembly is mounted across the width of a vehicle and is secured across the top of the vehicle. The assembly includes a crossmember, a viewing means, and a suspended thermal barrier. The thermal barrier comprises a plurality of flexible transparent strips which form a curtain. The flexible strips extend substantially to the floor of the vehicle, in an overlapping relationship with each adjacent strip.
