Abstract: A novel method for the selective electrodeposition of a metallic coating onto a base material and the products produced thereby. In the method of the invention, a thin adherent coating of an electrically conductive material is initially applied to the base material to mask off those portions of the material not to be electroplated. The composite thus formed is then placed in a suitable electroplating apparatus wherein a metallic coating such as gold or other precious metal is electrodeposited onto the portions of the composite not covered by the masking material. After electroplating, the masking material may readily be removed from the base material by chemical or mechanical means, or it may be left intact on the plated article to perform a utilitarian or decorative function in the end product application.
Abstract: An irrigation signal which has a cylindrical body to receive a cylindrical elongated float, the body having an upper portion and a lower portion, the lower portion being adapted to extend below the bottom of the irrigation ditch in which it is installed in order to form a well in which irrigation water may enter in order to raise said float a substantial distance above the top of the ditch to signal that irrigation water has been present or is present in said ditch. The irrigation signal has a removable plug at the lower end of the body so that when the plug is in place irrigation water will be retained in the body and keep the float in a signalling position, or in which, when the plug is removed, the water will drain from the lower end of the body so that the signalling float will be in signalling position only when there is water in the irrigation ditch.
Abstract: A continuous motion picture projection apparatus for use with a film strip having two side by side data tracks each comprising a photographic image track and a synchronized sound track. The first half of the program is carried by one data track and the other half by the second data track. The apparatus includes a main drive assembly which moves the film strip through the unit alternately in a forward and reverse direction and further comprises an illumination system, a projection lens system and a sound track sensor system. These systems are movable between a first position in alignment with the first data track and a second position in alignment with the second data track. Mechanisms associated with each of the systems are operably coupled with the main drive assembly and serve to automatically move the systems between their first and second positions upon reversal of the drive assembly.

Abstract: A keyed control device arranged to measure and control an operating characteristic of a machine or other instrumentality, and at a predetermined measurement of the operating characteristic will function to control the energization of means for interrupting an established control circuit to the machine or instrumentality. The control device includes a plug-in keying unit which limits use of the machine or instrumentality to authorized personnel. The keying unit may contain means for either or both visually and non-visually measuring the operating characteristic of the machine or instrumentality, such as a counter of signal impulses representative of the machine or instrumentality productivity.
