  • Patent number: 6438171
Abstract: Tables of data included in a digital stream of encoded data, e.g. a digital transport stream of a digitally compressed television signal, are modified. The tables of data are extracted from the stream and the extracted tables are processed to identify data that are to be dropped. A filter is used to filter out the identified data and new local data is entered into the extracted tables to replace dropped data and thereby form modified tables of data. The filtered stream is multiplexed with the modified tables of data to form an output digital stream. The constantly updated tables in the input stream are modified only in respect of the local changes and the updates are passed through to the output stream.

  • Patent number: 6437827
Abstract: The present invention relates to filtering an interlaced input digital signal containing fields of chrominance information preparatory to converting the format of the signal by means of a downsampling conversion from a 4:2:2 format to a 4:2:0 format. In the invention, the input signal is applied to a delay circuit to derive samples of the input signal representing spatially separated elements from each chrominance field where the spatial separation is of one line. The magnitudes of the samples are compared relative to one another to identify frequencies which fall within different high and low frequency ranges. An adaptive filter has a plurality of frequency responses corresponding to the frequency ranges and a frequency response is selected in accordance with the identified frequency range of the input signal samples.

  • Patent number: 6427969
Abstract: A vacuum processing device has at least one vacuum processing unit, which includes a housing defining a vacuum chamber, and a gate valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a lid plate. for covering an opening in the housing, and a connecting member connected fixedly to a rotating shaft. A plurality of resilientunits biases the plate away from the connecting member to press against a wall of the housing, which defines the opening. A plurality of adjusting units are movable respectively on the rods to vary the distance between a portion of the plate and a portion of the connecting member, which are interconnected by the respective one of the rods, so that the plate can be pressed entirely against the wall of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6424750
Abstract: A multiple mode digital X-ray imaging system providing for preprocessing “binning” of analog pixel signals from a detector array by selectively summing, within the detector array, adjacent pixel charges on a row-by-row basis and selectively summing, within detector array readout circuits, the previously summed pixel charges (by rows) on a column-by-column basis. An array, or mapping, of “defective pixel” flags is used to identify defective pixels within the detector array, with such flags being added to, or inserted into, the incoming data stream for dynamic processing along with the incoming pixel data. A buffer and filter is used to perform still image capture during the radiographic mode of operation and to recursively filter incoming data frames during the fluoroscopic mode of operation by summing a scaled amount of pixel data from prior data frames with a scaled amount of incoming pixel data from the present data frame.

  • Patent number: 6421383
Abstract: A motion factor coding apparatus receives an input video signal which is applied to a subtractor and to a motion estimator which generates motion vectors for the current frame relative to a reference frame that is stored in the motion estimator. The motion vectors are passed to a buffer which are then iteratively update in a re-estimator. The number of iterations can be set to a fixed number or can be controlled by measuring the effect of each successive update on the motion. When a satisfactory number of iterations is reached, update motion vectors are passed to a motion compensator which generates a predicted frame which is applied as another input to the subtractor where the predicted frame is subtracted from the current frame in the input digital video signal. The subtraction removes temporal redundancy in the signal.

  • Patent number: 6414718
Abstract: The present invention relates to converting a video signal comprising input image samples conforming to an interlace scanning lattice into a video signal comprising output image samples conforming to a progressive scanning lattice. First and second temporal filters receive and divide the input image samples into first and second temporal sub-bands. First and second low-pass vertical filters vertically filter each temporal sub-band such that the higher temporal sub-band is vertically filtered to a greater degree than the lower temporal sub-band. The filtered image samples from each sub-band are combined to form a filter output signal and a re-sampler re-samples the filter output signal to form the output image samples.

  • Patent number: 6388525
Abstract: A linear amplifier with a variable signal gain controlled by a control signal that is externally generated and based on the magnitude of the incoming signal. A shunt impedance is connected at the input of the amplifier and a feedback impedance is connected between the output and input of the amplifier. The amplifier is an inverting amplifier, thereby making the output signal phase inverse to the input signal phase. Both impedances are variable and are controlled by the control signal. Together, the signal gain of the amplifier and the values of the shunt and feedback impedances determine the overall signal gain of the circuit.

  • Patent number: 6388481
Abstract: Oscillator control circuitry for a phase lock loop, including phase detection circuitry, control signal generator circuitry, bias control circuitry and charge pump circuitry. The control signal generator circuitry introduces specific and distinct time delays to the phase signals from the phase detection circuitry representing the phase difference between the reference and oscillator output signals. These time delays cause the bias control circuitry to enable and disable the output charge pump circuitry slightly before and after, respectively, those time intervals during which an output source (“pump up”) or sink (“pump down”) current is needed to drive the oscillator via the loop filter. This produces charge pump circuitry output signals with significantly faster rise and fall times and shorter pulse widths, thereby resulting in a charge pump output signal with higher SNR and reduced spurious signal energy.

  • Patent number: 6377681
Abstract: A signal line driving circuit with power control for selectively reducing internal power dissipation when driving an external load. While driving the external load with a constant current the output voltage generated across such load is monitored. If the load impedance decreases sufficiently to cause the output voltage to fall below a predetermined threshold value and, therefore, cause the voltage across the signal line driving circuit to increase, the magnitude of the power supply voltage is automatically reduced, thereby reducing the voltage across the signal line driving circuit. Such a signal line driving circuit is particularly advantageous as a subscriber line interface circuit (SLIC). As the subscriber goes from an on-hook condition to an off-hook condition and if the subscriber loop is sufficiently short (or low in impedance), a lower power supply voltage is used to minimize the power dissipation of the SLIC while still maintaining the required subscriber loop current.
