  • Patent number: 7240395
Abstract: A motor-driven outdoor vacuum has a ground level intake and a hose intake. When a hand-operable actuator moves a first or main door into a ground pick-up position, the ground level intake, which is carried by the first door is in direct air-flow communication with the impeller and the hose intake, which is carried by the first door is closed by a spring-actuated second door carried by the main door. When the actuator is moved to a hose intake position, the main door is moved to a second position in which the hose is in air-flow communication with the impeller and the ground level intake is closed.

  • Patent number: 7230227
Abstract: An assembly is provided that may be used in high data rate optical communications, such as free-space communication systems. The assembly may include a main optical receiver element and a lenslet array or other optical element disposed near the focal plane that collects an optical signal and focuses that signal as a series of optical signal portions onto a photodetector array, formed of a series of InGaAs photodiodes, for example. The electrical signals from the photodetectors may be amplified using high bandwidth transimpedance amplifiers connected to a summing amplifier or circuit that produces a summed electrical signal. Alternatively, the electrical signals may be summed initially and then amplified via a transimpedance amplifier. The assembly may be used in remote optical communication systems, including free-space laser communication environments, to convert optical signals up to or above 1 Gbit/s or higher data rates into electrical signals at 1 Gbit/s or higher data rates.

  • Patent number: 7200015
Abstract: In a DC power supply or a battery charger, plural output filter capacitors remain highly charged after the load is removed and the converter is turned off. A transistor connected across the capacitors is non-conductive during normal power supply operation and a bleed resistor connecting the transistor to the output capacitors is not in the circuit during normal power supply operation. When the power supply is turned off and the load is removed, the transistor is automatically rendered conductive with the removal of the pulsed output of the power supply's power transformer to the transistor, with the energy stored in the capacitors safely and quickly discharged to the output return via the bleed resistor which is placed in circuit by the conducting transistor.

  • Patent number: 7158958
Abstract: Fault trees are automatically converted to Bayesian networks for assisting in system reliability, failure analysis and diagnostics by using information from the fault tree structure to create the Bayesian network structure, creating parameters of the Bayesian network using information from the fault tree, obtaining information about observation nodes for the Bayesian network from a list of observations that augments information contained in the fault tree, and inserting the observation nodes into the Bayesian network. The fault tree is pre-processed into an intermediate format prior to conversion that may include adding reliability values from a separate text document when the fault tree is in such format that requires it.
