  • Patent number: 4070555
Abstract: A switching mechanism is disclosed which may be either a single pole or a multiple pole switch. Actuator means is provided to actuate first and second contact means between open and closed circuit conditions. This actuator means is shown as a lever which acts on an actuable portion of a contact blade or directly moves a contact portion into and out of engagement with an individual contact. For economy the actuator means lever may be unitary with a housing by means of a unitary hinge which not only permits movement of the lever but also provides a resilient force in first and second generally perpendicular directions. This resilient force is used to establish the contacts in a closed circuit condition and is also resisted by a detent so that the switch remains in that selected circuit condition. When the switching mechanism is constructed as a multiple pole switch, then a common conductor is provided which has individual contact portions actuated by a plurality of levers for an economically produced switch.

  • Patent number: 4064926
Abstract: Particulate material, hereinafter called sand, is used in a sand article, such as a mold article, for foundry purposes such as a green sand mold and sand core consisting of sand and a binder and is hardened in a molding box by sucking a catalyst gas from a catalyst gas source through the molding box and the sand article. The molding box is continuously exposed to the action of a reduced pressure source and normally evacuated to the atmosphere. When the pressure has been reduced to a predetermined pressure less than atmospheric pressure, the catalyst gas is briefly supplied to the molding box under slight increase of the absolute pressure, whereupon the molding box is evacuated to the catalyst gas source until the pressure therein is reduced to the predetermined pressure to recycle the unused catalyst gas leaving the molding box to the catalyst gas source.

  • Patent number: 4064487
Abstract: A receiver and decoder is disclosed wherein the receiver may be used as a remote control receiver in conjunction with a transmitter transmitting a carrier modulated with an encoded data train of first and second modulation frequencies for first and second modulation patterns. A third modulation pattern may be established by providing successive portions of the first modulation signal and then the second modulation signal during a given time. If the receiver is on the same carrier frequency and is set to receive the same modulation pattern sequence as in the encoded data train from the transmitter, then the receiver has an output which may be used to control some remote load. This may be a garage door operator to open a garage door, for example. The decoder in the receiver is responsive to the modulation signals and a signal discriminator discriminates among the three different modulation patterns or logic conditions of bits.

  • Patent number: 4059237
Abstract: A double disc refiner for wood products solves the problems caused by steam generation in the refining space between the feed end disc and another disc. This problem is solved by the use of a separate steam removal channel connected to an inlet passage closely adjacent the feed end disc and at a location between the feed end disc and a means for feeding wood materials into the inlet passage at one end thereof. The means for feeding wood materials feeds the materials through the inlet passage and thereafter into the refining space through openings in the feed end disc.

  • Patent number: 4053160
Abstract: A golf putting device is disclosed for practicing putting a golf ball toward a hole by a player with a golf putter club having a putter shaft and a putter face. The invention comprises an alignment member being mounted to the putter shaft to extend in front of and being substantially normal to the plane of the putter face. A reflector element is mounted to be behind the plane of the putter face. The relative position of the alignment member and the reflector element enables the player to observe the alignment member being simultaneously superimposed over the ball and over the reflection of the hole in the reflector element to establish the putter face to be normal to a line extending between the golf ball and the hole. The forward extension of the alignment member is superimposed over the golf ball during substantially all of the putting stroke enabling the player to practice maintaining the putter face normal to the line extending between the golf ball and the hole.

  • Patent number: 4052692
Abstract: An accentuator circuit for underwater acoustical devices having a transmitter circuit and a receiver circuit each connected to underwater unit means which interchanges electrical signals and acoustical wave fronts in the water. The receiver circuit provides receiver outputs in accordance with distances traversed by the reflected wave fronts. The wave fronts reflecting from the bottom of the body of water produce a series of receiver outputs within an interval of time resulting in a bottom smear in the display in the prior art units. The invention includes an accentuator circuit connected to the receiver output comprising a series connected diode which substantially eliminates the bottom smear encountered by the prior art units enabling the resolution of an object which occurs within the aforesaid bottom smear. Consequently, objects such as fish which are located in close proximity to the bottom of the body of water can be readily detected.

  • Patent number: 4041259
Abstract: A switch mechanism is disclosed which is readily adaptable to a multiple pole switch mechanism wherein a removable card is supported in a housing. First and second contacts make up a switch pair and are mounted in the housing for mutual cooperation with the first contact having a mounting portion, a movable contact portion and a movable actuable portion. The removable card provides a selective actuation means to actuate the first and second contacts between open and closed circuit conditions. The card has abutment means to engage the movable actuable portion of the contact blade or blades. Also, the card has alternative areas which do not actuate respective ones of the contacts and this may be provided by apertures in the card so that no material of the card is present to engage the contact blade actuable portion. Accordingly, either open or closed circuit conditions may be achieved.
