  • Patent number: 4036256
Abstract: An adjustable valve assembly as disclosed wherein a plurality of valve blocks may be stacked or ganged side by side, and each used to control a machine part. Each valve block has a solenoid actuated valve to control flow of fluid such as air into a piston and cylinder assembly to move a part of the machine. The air flow is adjustably throttled by a needle valve in either the forward stroke or return stroke of the machine part. The needle valve has a normal at-rest position and may be moved in two directions toward opening and toward closing to establish a variable orifice in the valve block. First and second line shafts extend transversely to all of the various valve blocks for actuating the needle valves in the several valve blocks. Such actuation includes for each valve block first and second drive trains from the line shafts to the needle valve member with first and second clutches in the first and second drive trains and selectively actuable for opening and closing movements of the valve member.

  • Patent number: 4032251
Abstract: A cutting tool is disclosed which has an axis of rotation and comprises a cutting portion having a tapered body and a generally conically shaped surface. Wall means extend radially into the tapered body and define a curved cutting face wall. A relieved land surface extends to and meets the cutting face wall to define a curved cutting edge. The curved cutting edge is located substantially on or at the conical surface of the tapered body. A lateral support surface is located substantially at or on the conical surface of the tapered body and at a positon generally diametrically opposed to the curved cutting edge. The conical surface of the tapered body is substantially recessed rotatively ahead of the cutting edge to the lateral support surface to provide space for chips and is, also, sufficiently recessed rotatively rearwardly of the cutting edge to the lateral support surface to prevent that area from making contact with the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4013910
Abstract: A two-pole off-set construction of an electric motor has winding portion laminations and rotor portion laminations which are separate so that the winding may be formed or placed on the winding portion and then the two portions of the stator interconnected to complete the flux path for the rotor circumscribed by a rotor aperture in the rotor portion. There must be a window space between these two portions to accommodate the winding on the winding portion and formerly the metal removed from this window space was scrap metal, necessitating an excessive amount of steel lamination material. In this invention, the layer of lamination is made in two complementary pieces and this layer has a rotor portion and a winding portion. The two separate lamination pieces for a layer of complete lamination are to permit the winding to be placed on this complete stator.
