Abstract: Systems and related methods for supplying power to a medical device employ serially-connectable portable batteries. A method of supplying electrical power to a medical device includes discharging a first external battery to output electrical power to a second external battery. Distribution of the electrical power received by the second external battery is controlled to simultaneously charge the second external battery and output electrical power from the second external battery to supply electrical power to the medical device.

Abstract: A location designation RFID tag for use in a storage facility includes an inlay, a first layer disposed on a first side of the inlay and having a first thickness, and a second layer disposed on a second side of the inlay. The first layer has a first thickness and the second layer has a second thickness. The inlay includes substrate, an antenna disposed on the substrate, and an integrated circuit disposed on the substrate. The location designation RFID tag may be easily and non-invasively placed and relocated on a floor of a storage facility in a manner that mitigates, and likely resolves, the issues experienced by known RFID tags when placed on a floor. Utilizing an inlay having a long, thin antenna, reduces the overall thickness of the location designation RFID tag, which allows layers to be disposed on the inlay that include a sufficient thickness to improve durability, mitigate detuning, and allow movable devices to readily pass over the location designation RFID tag.

Abstract: An impeller includes a hub, and a plurality of blades supported by the hub, the blades being arranged in at least two blade rows. The impeller has a deployed configuration in which the blades extend away from the hub, and a stored configuration in which at least one of the blades is radially compressed, for example by folding the blade towards the hub. The impeller may also have an operational configuration in which at least some of the blades are deformed from the deployed configuration upon rotation of the impeller when in the deployed configuration. The outer edge of one or more blades may have a winglet, and the base of the blades may have an associated indentation to facilitate folding of the blades.

Abstract: An artificial intelligence (AI) entry management (EM) security system includes a camera, a microphone, a motion detector, a speaker, and a software platform. Geofences are utilized to create boundaries around physical areas, such as locations for package delivery or property boundaries. The EM device and other devices connected to the software platform are configured to monitor the geofences and detect a presence of an activity, an event, an object, or a device. At least one license plate reader is utilized to read license plate characters. Voice recognition and voice identification are used to grant or deny permissions for individuals on a property.
Abstract: An exercise machine creates a simulated continuous resisted climbing motion. The machine includes a floor- or ground-contacting base frame and two or more substantially vertically oriented uprights, wherein at least one upright is rigidly connected to the base frame. The machine further includes two handles and two foot pedals, each handle and each foot pedal being movably engaged with an upright for linear reciprocating motion along the upright. The handles and foot pedals are interconnected so that they move concurrently. An adjustable resistance mechanism may be operatively connected to the interconnection of the handles and foot pedals to provide adjustable resistance for the simulated continuous climbing motion.

Abstract: The invention provides a new class of synthetic sequence-defined polymer (SDP) and a method of synthesizing the same. The synthetic sequence-defined polymers have dithiocarbamate incorporated to the backbone. The method introduces a functional group dithiocarbamate in the backbone by using a new support-free, protection-deprotection free three-component reaction strategy. Dithiocarbamate-SDP is prepared from a unique bifunctional monomer, CS2 and chloroacetyl chloride. Chloracetyl chloride is used as a co-monomer. Different functional groups may be introduced in the dithiocarbamate-SDP via custom synthesis of monomers with the desired functional group, using the method disclosed. The SDPs may undergo modular post-synthetic modification through multiple paths. SDP is produced in multi-gram scale at low cost and in an eco-friendly manner through the method. No hazardous waste is produced in the process as HCl gas released from the reaction may be neutralized by bicarbonate in the medium.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a facility for forming a wood plastic composite by mixing and extruding wood powder and a polymer resin. According to a facility of the present disclosure, in a process of forming a wood plastic composite, gas and water vapor contained in wood powder and polymer resin are efficiently removed, and thus, a coupling force between wood powder and polymer resin increases, and also, wood powder is uniformly dispersed inside polymer resin, and thus, physical properties of a wood plastic composite to be formed is not degraded, and in addition, since there is no stagnant section while molten liquid of wood powder and polymer resin passes through each apparatus in the facility, wood powder is prevented from carbonizing or polymer resin is prevented from solidifying, and thus, physical properties of the wood plastic composite to be formed are maintained constant.
