Abstract: A topside platform for a voltage source converter high voltage direct current, VSC HVDC, symmetrical monopole converter station. The topside platform including a first floor and a second floor, an incoming AC switchgear module, and first and second transformer modules, wherein the incoming AC switchgear module is configured to distribute a first alternating current, AC, signal from an AC grid to the first and second transformer modules, wherein the first and second transformer modules are arranged on the first floor of the topside platform and are configured to transform the first AC signal into a second AC signal; and first and second converter modules configured to convert the second AC signal into a direct current, DC, signal for a DC circuit, wherein the first and second converter modules are positioned on the second floor of the topside platform, wherein the incoming AC switchgear module is positioned between the converter modules.

Abstract: A portal box assembly for mounting a wheel to an off road vehicle in a lifted and extended wheelbase position. The assembly includes a portal gear box having an input shaft opening for an input shaft, and an output shaft extending from an output shaft opening. The portal gear box also includes a set of gears effective to transmit power from the input shaft to the output shaft, and optionally to reduce the gear ratio. The assembly is mountable to the vehicle in an extended wheelbase position in which the output shaft is positioned below and forward of the input shaft when the assembly is used to mount a forward wheel, and in which the output shaft is positioned below and rearward of the input shaft when the assembly is used to mount a rear wheel.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed towards polypeptide substrates and methods of synthesis thereof. Such substrates can be embedded with calcium ions from a number of ionic sources. These calcium-embedded, polypeptide substrates can be used to grow a variety of crystal structures including flower-shaped, onion-shaped, and needle-like crystal structures. As such, the disclosure is additionally directed towards methods of crystal growth from polypeptide substrates. Compositions of the disclosure can be used in a wide variety of medical and other applications.

Abstract: A tread extractor assembly for removing a molded article from a mold is provided. The tread extractor assembly includes a chassis, a first spindle rotatably coupled to the chassis, and a second spindle rotatably coupled to the chassis. The first spindle is configured to rotate in a first direction and the second spindle is configured to rotate in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The first spindle and the second spindle are disposed to extend substantially in parallel to one another and are separated by a gap. The gap is configured to receive a portion of the molded article such that the portion of the molded article is clamped between the first spindle and the second spindle during extraction of the molded article from the mold.

Abstract: This document discloses techniques, apparatuses, and systems for secure multi-rail control for sparsely encoded signals. Integrated circuits (ICs) may transmit various signals to manage interactions between circuit components of the IC. These critical signals are common targets for malicious attacks because, when altered, they can cause the IC to perform differently than is intended, and in some cases, bypass security measures. While various strategies may be used to protect against these attacks, modern circuit synthesis tools may optimize away these security measures, leaving the IC vulnerable to manipulation. In contrast, the secure multi-rail control for sparsely encoded signals described herein utilizes multiple rails to transmit sparsely encoded critical signals.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for digitally providing access to one or more articles is disclosed. The system includes one or more locking units to secure the articles in a locked state. A server generates or stores a digital key associated with the article or the locking unit. When the digital key is provided to a portable electronic device of a user, the digital key enables the portable electronic device to alter the locking unit between the locked state and the unlocked state without the user paying for the article or authorizing payment for the article. Upon a first event, the digital key is assigned to the user and provided to the portable electronic device of the user. The first event includes the user initiating a request for access to the article or the digital key, and verification that the user satisfies a predetermined condition.

Abstract: Examples are disclosed that relate to fans configured to automatically adjust for imbalances in mass. One example provides a self-balancing fan, comprising a hub comprising a plurality of blade interfaces, and a plurality of blade structures each attached to a corresponding blade interface of the hub, each blade interface comprising a tapered notch in the hub and being configured to increase a balancing force exerted by the hub against the blade structure as a function of increasing distance of the blade structure from the hub.

Abstract: A fail-safe automatic mains-electricity cutoff system and method for automatic disconnection from a mains service drop in the event of mains power outage or instability, and automatic reconnection after restoration of stable mains power, with indications of operational status through a unit display, an indicator light, and an RF communication link to a remote unit. A unit enclosure having a unit door and a ground bus houses the fail-safe automatic mains-electricity cutoff system which is installed on the mains service drop, below the electrical meter and above the main breaker panel or main service disconnect switch. Low-voltage DC power for system operation is supplied through a battery unit. Disconnection and connection to mains power is effected through a switching unit providing a mains-voltage sensor, a fail-safe switch and a fail-safe switch actuator. A premises-voltage sensor and current sensor can also be provided in embodiments.

An inner bag is formed from a flexible polymer film and defines an interior flow path between a third port and a fourth port, the third port and the fourth port extending through the outer bag and provide fluid access to and from the interior flow path. In other embodiments, a flexible bag or container incorporates heat exchanger flow path(s) into one or more surfaces. In another embodiment, a container or vessel incorporates heat exchange flow path around a cylindrical surface formed by an inner jacket and outer jacket.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a turning angle indication indicating a turn of front wheels of the vehicle in one of a left direction or a right direction by a turning angle relative to a first direction of travel of the vehicle, and determining that a magnitude of the turning angle satisfies a threshold turn angle. Based on determining that the magnitude of the turning angle satisfies the threshold turn angle, the method also includes operating the vehicle in a drift mode by determining that an inner rear wheel includes one of a left rear wheel or a right rear wheel of the vehicle, determining that an outer rear wheel includes the other one of the left rear wheel or the right rear wheel, and commanding at least one torque machine to provide forward torque to the inner rear wheel without providing any forward torque to the outer rear wheel of the vehicle.

Abstract: Described is a dampening system for keyboard percussion instruments. The dampening system includes two spring towers and a damper T bar with an extended vertical member connected with the two spring towers to assure rigid vertical motion between the two spring towers. To assist and maintain rigid directional control, the spring towers include integrated low friction guides. Further, a centrally located “strap re-direct” set of low friction ball bearing rollers to assure that the angle of the strap connected to a pedal can be adjusted for an absolutely perfect vertical pull down on the “T” bar.

Abstract: A system and method for generating enhanced counter offers is disclosed. The system and method can generate, for a merchant, a list of alternative inventory items to a given item. A plurality of historic deal metrics based on past financing terms for each of the alternative inventory items may be determined. An alternative sale price based on applying the plurality of historic deal metrics to a merchant listed sale price for the given item may be generated. A report based on the alternative sale price may be generated. The report may be transmitted to the client device for display on an interactive graphical user interface (GUI).

Abstract: A splice variant of bcr-abl mRNA that produces BCR-ABL protein with a truncated C-terminus and its role in resistance to treatment with kinase inhibitors is disclosed. Vectors for expressing the truncated gene product are provided as well as recombinant cells that express the truncated gene product from a cDNA construct. Also provided are methods compositions and kits for detecting the BCR-ABL splice variant. Additionally, methods for screening BCR-ABL kinase domain inhibitors which rely on the recombinant cells and methods of predicting likelihood for resistance of a CML patient with a BCR/ABL translocation respond to treatment with one or more BCR-ABL kinase inhibitors are also disclosed.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for automatically assisting conversations using a graph database. In order to minimize misunderstanding of words and phrases used by participants during a conversation, phrases from the conversation may be received by conversation assistance application as the conversation takes place. Entities may be extracted from the phrase based on natural language recognition according to a domain context of the participant being assisted. One or more tags may be looked up from a graph database, and may be provided to the participant as a list of hashtags related to the conversation. Links to documents may be extracted based on the tags for the participant for viewing during the conversation.

Abstract: A system and method of re-identifying players in a broadcast video feed are provided herein. A computing system retrieves a broadcast video feed for a sporting event. The broadcast video feed includes a plurality of video frames. The computing system generates a plurality of tracks based on the plurality of video frames. Each track includes a plurality of image patches associated with at least one player. Each image patch of the plurality of image patches is a subset of the corresponding frame of the plurality of video frames. For each track, the computing system generates a gallery of image patches. A jersey number of each player is visible in each image patch of the gallery. The computing system matches, via a convolutional autoencoder, tracks across galleries. The computing system measures, via a neural network, a similarity score for each matched track and associates two tracks based on the measured similarity.
